Would it be wise for the Panthers, and their future, to play Rouse at a position other than QB?

He could have played, could he have played well was what I was getting at. Any skill position would be tough with a cast, not to mention a pad that would have to go over top of the cast.

I fit under that...back in 8th grade I played Freshmen/Sophomore ball.

They actually run the shotgun spread already. The difficulties would obviously come with ball control. He would have to catch the ball off the snap, not to mention the fact that the QB runs a lot out of the shotgun and it would make it difficult to not fumble. With that being said, I would love to see him back on the field!

Although the offense has essentially been the same for years, Rouse had big shoes to fill of King, King had big shoes to fill of Lewis. Rouse was a good football player but Ludlow has had a recent trend of finding athletic kids to fit this system at the QB position.

My Senior year of high school we (Ludlow) were playing Bracken County at home on homecoming. To say the least the Polar Bears were suppossed to be pushovers...we won 21-7. You can never underestimate teams, there would be no reason whatsoever for playing the games if you could and always get away with it.

It could always be worse, my sophomore year of high school while playing a game at Bardstown-Bethlehem the home team played a recording of "another one bites the dust" when one of our players were hurt.

Its also a home and home, Dayton will do the travelling next season.

Cincinnati schools are often hesitant to play NKY schools because of their playoff system. A positive would be getting your team to travel. Granted the Tigers of Beechwood would generally be the team to travel out of Dayton's district, you never know when your team will find themselves travelling deeper into the playoffs. Having a road trip in your back pocket could be an X-factor.

Panthers just need to keep their head up and get ready for a war to get in to the playoffs. Bishop-Brossart will be no pushover! Who was the starting QB for Ludlow in this one?

Sets up (what can be assumed) a battle to not have to play Beechwood in the first round of the playoffs between Dayton and Ludlow. Should be a flat out war!!!

Haha I called FC last night, no answer or call back. As I graduated with him I realize any loss to the Tigers requires deep mourning. At any rate congrats to the Tigers, and keep fighting Panthers...keep the chance of a rematch alive next week!

I don't think the problem at Bracken is ever going to be talent, it is going to be getting that talent on to the field. Small schools often struggle with this, Bracken has had an especially tough time getting quality numbers out for practice and friday nights.

It is pretty impressive that Bellevue was able to score almost half of their points in the second half, you want to have your team in a position to do this. I am just curious, because most of the points (from what I have read and heard) were in the closing minutes of the game, were the Tigers in that good of shape or was Paris in that bad of shape?

I find it very interesting that HC is suppossed to have this big down year and yet their brand new QB essentially got a full page spread on the Enquirer/Post Pre-Season NKY preview.

Nothing against the players, but at least one of the front five would struggle terribly with adding more to the offense which is pleanty to ruin any scheme. I never once said unskilled, its more of a problem of being undisciplined which has nothing to do with skill.

Having a few different looks besides the shotgun would be a good idea, but there are a few problems with that. Not to put anyone down, but the kids that are in place are not kids that are going to be able to learn a lot of different plays out of different formations. There is no point in having a ton of formations if you can only run a few plays out of them. If anyone disagrees with that they need to sit down at one of Ludlows practices, or ask Coach Chilldress or Keller, they will tell you the same thing. Some of the kids don't care enough to learn the plays, or simply are not capable of doing it. At the same time they may be the only players that can block anyone at all, so you have to go with them. Different offenses can also compensate for a less athletic team. Throwing a lot of different looks at the opposition could cause the defense to tighten up, obviously making up for a team that has found themselves in trouble running the same few tired plays constantly, leaving the defense anticipating and ready to pounce. Where this does come to be a problem is the line. Beyond Helmer the tight end position may look a little thin this season which eliminates a lot of the more "traditional" looks you might get from a high school team. A lack of talent up-front, as well as players who may be playing selfishly, unfundamentally, or as I said before flat out cant remember what in the world they are suppossed to be doing eliminates a lot of the other "traditional" formations that could be run. This is not to mention any trick plays, which teams in Ludlow's situation may often run (West Carter and Fairview's teams of a few years ago come to mind) can not be run if the guys aren't giving enough time up front. Not that it really matters, but IMO you both are very right and both are very wrong. Ludlow's offense, which gave them a good quick fix, has not produced the results that it had previously. For a small team it is not a bad base offense at all. It provides some opportunities for plays to be made, even if there are weak links in the chain. At the same time the ability to give different looks would be invaluable to the team, if it were something the players could learn and get results from. The team is going to have a lot of question marks this year, as most high school teams do every year. It will be interesting to see the solution Coach Borchers and the rest of the staff come up with.

I just wanted to note that he got the injury playing JV, while Mills and Gilbert were the Varsity RB's.

Defense Defense Defense! Knowing Coach Borchers this is certainly high on the priority list.

I can't wait to see the Bears break that streak and get things going with their program, though I still have to pull for my Panthers and hope it doesn't come this week.:thumb:

All the same I bet Coach Borchers gets the guys ready as if they are playing one of the top tier teams of the conference. :thumb:

Change of venue, loss of momentum, loss of a fired up homecoming crowd. Tough one to swallow for the Panthers who had a decent start against the heavily favored Tigers. Just an overall tough situation for all involved.

Don't the teams coaches decide who gets nominated from their own team?
