Why are these two teams playing? It seems like a long trip.

Berea dropped out of district and it was a long trip or a perenial power in one of the big schools down here. Sounds like the game was worth the trip, though.

Berea dropped out of LC's district? How does that impact Dayton? I'm wondering why Dayton would make the trip.

WE were up there. They come here next year. Berea dropping out left us a game short and we had to scramble for a replacement game.

Maybe they (Dayton) were in a similar situation with filling a game, go big or play at your level and travel?? I have no idea. We had a situation where we played Ludlow a home and home in the early 2000's.

Dayton stopped Lynn Camp on the 1 foot line on a 4 and goal from the 5 with the clock running and only 4 seconds remained. The runner dove for the endzone but was marked down just shy of the goal line and Dayton hung on 20-13.

 

Lynn Camp lost at least 1 player to injury on about 5 different occasions on the final drive. Both teams battled to exhaustion.

Bad injuries or just banged up injuries? I wish I could have made this one. Sounds like everyone was leaving what they had on the field. This apparently was the game it was supposed to be....

Cincinnati schools are often hesitant to play NKY schools because of their playoff system. A positive would be getting your team to travel. Granted the Tigers of Beechwood would generally be the team to travel out of Dayton's district, you never know when your team will find themselves travelling deeper into the playoffs. Having a road trip in your back pocket could be an X-factor.

I got that. My point deals with scheduling teams that you have no rivalry with that are hours away when you've got so many local teams that you can play , get fans to, and get home at a decent time.
