Dayton players helmet was on the front side of the kids shoulder. and on the second to last fourth and whatever on the naked boot where the kid dove and got the first down you could blatantly see #21 for Dayton get shoved in the back; it didn't knock him down, but it was a shove in the back right in front of the white hat. The officiating wasn't good, but it wasn't good both ways...

Actually he cramp 3 times, and only one of which was he in bounds, and on another one LC called timeout after to get him back in the game, and the other one he got out of bounds. When a player goes down, he has to sit out a play, Wesley Steele came in and and ran hard, during those few times that Joe went out.

baloney... he cramped twice within the last 45 seconds and once with 3 minutes left all while the clock was running. No TO's were used to get him back in, he has to sit a play either way.

 

don't feel too bad about the band either, it's how it's done ask any other team that plays here. Get over it.... the players shouldn't be bothered by what the darned band is doing anyways...

as far as LC's backs, I was far more impressed with #21 than I was with #31... JMO...

You won the game! You beat a superior team why all the sour grapes. If the rules allow you to take advantage of a situation, cudos to the Coach for doing so! So you are telling me Dayton never bent a rule for a victory? Come on! There is not a Coach worth his salt that will not use everything within the rule book to win, if he does'nt, he will be an x-coach soon!

what makes you say that they are a superior team? Rankings?

 

alright, true that there is nothing in the rulebook preventing that, but maybe there should be. And there isn't any rules on when bands play either, mabye there should be but there isn't. So I guess we are evening everything out...

 

Just an FYI too, I didn't hear any Dayton fans booing the QB when he what looked to be a moderately serious ankle injury. It's because you could tell from the first half, actually from the play it happened (which was when he was taken to the ground awkwardly on a sack), that the kid was hurt. No one booed when there was a legitamently hurting kid. They booed when they saw a kid being stretched an drinking water a foot from the sideline with 24 seconds left when the clock should be rolling...

The story on the play is there were two similar blocks on the play. The first one is the picture, and its clearly a block in the back, and it is clear as day on film. The second was a about 10 or 15 yards down field, and that player for Dayton had his head on the first side of the player, and was a great block. I thought #4 for Dayton is a good solid little back, made some nice cuts and big plays for Dayton. #24 is also a nice runner.

I don't directly aim my post at anyone just because I quote them. that is why i separated my paragraphs. maybe it wasn't you that brought up the band issue but it is being brought up by everyone else on the thread, so instead of posting another 3 or 4 times I put it all in one...

 

and there was once with 3 minutes left in the game, and at least twice inside a minute... the TO was called after the following play when the kid came back in... I believe that was their last one too...

zoom in on the kids legs and see who was in front. Looks to me like the kid lunged at him and got blocked while in the air.

Believe it or not, a block in the back has nothing to do with where the helmet is on the kid being blocked. Those days have come and gone. Now all officials are instructed to make the call ONLY when the initial contact is made in the back, basically make a box around the numbers. All head coaches know this from the state rules clinic.

 

Looking at that picture, his hands are clearly on the numbers...block in the back. Sorry, but that is a flat out textbook block in the back in what we are shown in the still image. Now, what happened prior to his hands being there is the question. He could have started his block in the side or the front and then continued his block to the back, which would have made it legal.

 

Again, great win Greendevils. I could not be happier for the community, kids and staff.

Yes rankings, stats, on paper superior. as far as your fyi goes, never brought up the way Dayton fans treat injuured players. Just savor the win,your guys did a great job and get ready for the Tigers, remember them? You will see them soon.

Wow Dayton knocks off a #7 seed and out come the haters. Congrats to Dayton. Holding KY's leading rusher to only 103 yards. When going into this game averaged over 200 yards every Friday night.

There is a gentlemens agreement that bands don't preform during the playing of the football game.

 

Go to Trinity or a St. X game and you won't see that happening. It is called class.
