  1. What I know is they beat Johnson Central 28-0 (at least 4 TDs) in summer passing league. With pads, in the scrimmage last week, they were inaffective, but I assume they have a passing game when there's time to throw.
  2. Straight facts, and well said. Disagree with the opinion on Matney's mouth, because it has been frustrating, but Martin County got it done last year.
  3. That was probably a typo. I heard Pike Central paid us $3,000 to get out of the Touchstone Bowl last year, and we paid the little team from Beckley, WV $4,000 to fill the void. I agree. It wasn't $15,000.
  4. Pulling for ya'. Small 3A school, bounced back big in the playoffs (saved some face for the rest of us), and had the best fans I've ever seen come to Central. Real tailgaters. I enjoyed a plate and a nice conversation. Hope we can keep playing when alignment changes.
  5. Paintsville has guts, and leads the overall series. Lawrence has guts, and has won 90 percent of the time. My wish list would add Belfry every year (crowd drawer for both and YMT would be on board, I would think); Prestonsburg, and occasionally Sheldon Clark, Pikeville, and if last night means anything, maybe up and coming Letcher Central. I would also like a big coal company to move to Paintsville and lay us some carpet!
  6. Finally, a valid point. Mason is fast and unbelievably under everyone's radar. I for one worry about this season finale. And you guys should be able to relate to the lack of respect. How'd the opener go?
  7. Thanks, we are confident. I would think Morehead could relate to being a doormat in football, so help us out man. The subject is refusal of local teams to play us. The rest is harmless smack.
  8. Just confident. Don't take it too personally. We all eat a little crow from time to time. I like to go overboard. Not too much exageration here though. If you guys have a problem with JC fans being excited and confident, so what. We're always classy. Just pumped and classy now. So...yeah...bring 'em on. We need to play local teams.
  9. Then your school has probably run into the same problem. The 80s are long gone though, and the school you're talking about isn't really competition anymore, except for Paintsville (a non-chicken) and Hazard. Thought maybe you were speaking on behalf of a school that might compete with Johnson Central.
  10. You know the history pretty well for someone who never heard of Johnson Central. Anyone who knows Central football knows we're young, and will be even better next year. Maybe we can get a local schedule think. Help us out bro'.
  11. Right Billybobjimbo. Which chicken do you support?
  12. Wow. What a reaction. Good Job JC Alumni. "Afraid" isn't the right word. These teams around here can't beat us anymore, and Belfry wouldn't have beaten us last year either. Taking nothing away from the pride and rich tradition, just calling a spade a spade, and refusing to buy the excuses that Belfry uses our scrimmages as "practices" and we use them as games. Regardless, we kicked Belfry around pretty good the last 2 years. We would have done the same the last week of the season. Belfry mopped the floor with Central all those years, and can't do it anymore. Why would they want to schedule a loss? Nothing to gain is why. Prestonsburg won't play us because Matney has a history with Pburg, and they don't really want the annals of history to show what would happen. Similar story with the others. So, even though I have no authority, on behalf of the Johnson Central powers that be, go tell your coaches we think you're a bunch of chickens (lol). Otherwise, we'll continue traveling great distances to find competition. And by the way, Bryan Station would have thumped just about every team around here last year. And they're visiting us this year, and are apparently much improved. It'll be a tough game.
  13. Just what I've heard the last couple years: Belfry, Prestonsburg, and Breathitt County cannot or will not (for the past 2 or 3 years). Pike County Central backed out of the Touchstone Energy Bowl at the 11th hour last year, and Central had no choice but to substitute a team from Beckley that needed money, and would have lost to our freshman team. I believe there are many others who won't play, but these are the ones I hear. Why? Its pretty obvious they feel they'd have alot to lose and nothing to gain. The same teams were more than willing to play when Central was a doormat. Just what I've heard. If anyone knows the real reason, please chime in.
  14. I don't really care either. Not that big a deal, and more times than not, what goes around comes around. I don't buy for a minute, however, that the fact the clock runs somehow makes irrelevant the coaching moves (Shelby Valley has a whole team of subs), play call, and control over players.
  15. Sure sounds like it was a little much. However, Shelby Valley was coming off a pretty hard switch to the bare bottom last Saturday when they scrimmaged Johnson Central, but it was a classy spanking. I saw well-mannered players and fans, so that only leaves to question the one who calls the plays.
  16. And excepting a minute or two, the entire 4th quarter, offense and defense, was second team players or it could have easily been 60-0. Central made its share of mistakes, but overall played consistently well and bounced back quickly. North Laurel has some very good players and early-on you got the feeling it might be a tight game, but the Eagles wore them down with better depth, and apparently better conditioning. Lots of cramps and resulting game delays by NL. Although Central receivers dropped a few balls, NL surprised me with their ability in the secondary, and usually more than one defender was around the receiver. I think they'll win a few games for sure, and I predict they'll beat South too.
  17. Yes, it does Frances! I'm gonna get my ear polyp removed too. I wash and I scrub, and have even tried Preparation H, and I still can't remove that stubborn ear polyp. You may want to take another extended trip to see the family real soon though. I'm very concerned that the pain and strain of the next nine weeks will age you rapidly. Good to see you again! Have you been able to ditch the Rascal scooter?
  18. God is not a Tomcat. I was talking to my tomcat when I let him out this morning, and he said God told him he was on his own now. Something about wide right, Karma, and a Ram. I told my cat to stop talkin' to me 'cause it was freakin' me out. Congratulations Raceland. If you guys could jump up to 3A you could finish second in the district!! Francis, God (or plastic surgery) has been very kind to you!!
  19. I just got up for a drink of water and will catch a few more Zs before catching the game on WYMT at noon. The kids got back at 3 a.m., so somebody make sure they all wake up. Had this really weird dream that Ashland lost to Raceland, or the Rose Hill 8th grade team, or somebody like that. Anybody else? Way to go Eagles!!!
  20. I've heard that WYMT is televising this game live, and I've also heard that it won't be shown until noon Saturday. Anyone know?
