Whats everyones thoughts on the game. I know South Point has a stud QB that is named Chris Smith. Gave a verbal to Marshall and is the #14 Dual Threat QB in the nation. I like what i saw out of the Golden Eagles especially the Defense and they have seen a QB like him just not as good, Ty Sergent of Mason Co. could both run and throw. First home game for the Eagles at "The Nest" and i expect the house to be packed and the Eagles on fire. My prediction:

Watch out for Jerrell Dean in this game. He is a big quiet threat to any team that opposes him with the help from Chris Smith.

While South Point does have a dandy of a QB, they really haven't had very good teams the last few years. If Johnson Central is as good as they were last year, I don't see them having any problems with the Pointers.

No way Johnson Central looses there home opener. Last year in the touchstone energy bowl, it wasnt much of a game. This year will be different. Last year, JC had a good defense... but the offense was the key. This year, defense will be Johnson Central's key to success. And what is the old saying... Defense wins Championships!

In the game against North Laurel, there was alot of cramps. Which is expected in the season opener. The "first game gitters" should be over with. And now Matney and his staff can get down to some serious football. I didnt get to make to North Laurel, but I did catch the replay on wymt. Johnson Central has good special teams. I'm just glad that the mistakes made on special teams didnt cost JC the game.

There is no shortage of players that can put points on the board this year for Johnson Central's offense. However, nothing gets a team more hyped up than to score a touchdown on defense either by a fumle recovery or an inteception return. This years JC team has the potential to score big defensive touchdowns when they are needed.

Three things impressed me last night about the Golden Eagles performance.

 

1.) The Defense is solid on all 11 starters and can substitute in on 5 or 6 positions and still be solid. Shut out first game of the season while the varsity was on the field, shows the potential for them this year.

 

2.) The unbelievable balance in the running game. JC has a ton of young talent here. Johnson the only back last night that got carries that was a senior.

 

3.) The kicking game. Barrett put it inside the 5 yd line about every time and once or twice put it in the endzone. I dont think JC has had the since 97' when a foreign exchange student had the kicking duties. Just a guess put giving good protection i think Barrett could be solid up to 40 yds.

Actually i dont think that Ian was ever under center last night. When JK went out Dennis Dillon stepped in and done a pretty nice job. All of Ian's yards where from rushing and recieving. JC used alot of different backs last night as spread the ball to all its running backs on the ground and recievers through the air. Blake really didnt get any carries till the last drive that the varsity was in on in the fourth quarter but scored a TD. Very entertaining style of football this year by the eagles but in my opinion the depth of talent and the defense is going to take them where they want to go.

From what I here South Point does not have much of an O or D line. This should play into J.C.'s favor in a big win.

Eagle fans, let me ask you this question... Is it just me or cant anybody else wait until friday night? Going to rupp last basketball season was great, going to applebee's park 2 years ago was great... Finally we have a football program that is respectable. And to me, friday night under the lights watching our team dominate... all those years of loosing kinda just melt away.

Hey, you took my earlier prediction (lol), or either great minds think alike! I guess you saw I nailed the 40-6 North Laurel prediction last week. I better check and see if my crystal ball is missing.

I havent heard what type of qb smith is... is he a pocket passer or a scrambler? If he can pass, that might help him a little, but if he is a scrambler, then he is going to have a very rough night.
