South Point, OH vs Johnson Central Predictions

I really dont know how many scouts will be their since this kid is a solid verbal to Marshall already. JK does have a good frame that he could add alot more muscle to without hurting his agility and speed. The hieght to play college ball is definately there being 6'4" and his arm strength is solid. I would like to see him get some attention out of this game but dont know how many scouts if any will be there. I think another one that could draw some attention if scouts where there could be Blake Johnson.

If any college prospects have came through Johnson Central in the last few years, they had to be Scott Salyers and Casey Music from the 11-1 2000 team. Those 2 guys had D-1 written all over them. This years team has more talent and better depth than the 2000 team... but, only time will tell what this team is made of.

There are no "for sures" in football. JC may have not win another game the rest of the year. I dont think that will be the case. One thing that matney did, and it was a great idea... is letting the second string play the enitre 4th quarter. Hopefully the injury bug wont bite this year. If the second string gets to play like that in some more games, that is going to mighty helpful for the depth chart.

Agreed. But, South Point’s claim to fame is that they are the most southern point in the state of Ohio. They are located right across from where the Big Sandy River empties into the Ohio River.

They’re a small school with a weak football program. Most of the local boys go play for neighboring Ironton if they’re good enough. That’s just the way it is over there.

I sure hope that JC doesn’t lose this game because that wouldn’t speak well of our district.

Of course, Ashland has it's own problems right now. Good luck.

When Bruce Humphrey was coach in 2001,South Point beat JC by a score of 26-0, that team went 2-8. But thank God times have changed around eagleville. I may be wrong, but I think that is the only time that these 2 schools have played each other. After friday night the all-time record will be 1-1.

There is no shortage of players that can put points on the board this year for Johnson Central's offense. However, nothing gets a team more hyped up than to score a touchdown on defense either by a fumle recovery or an inteception return. This years JC team has the potential to score big defensive touchdowns when they are needed.

Watch out for Shawn Ousley #65 coming out of the center position to the defensive line. 6'1 285lbs who knows what will happen this Friday......keep your eyes peeled if you make it to the eagle's nest Friday night. Should be exciting to see forsure.

I thought that Ousley played some on the d-line last week against North Laurel. Does anyone know if Chase Richardson will be back for this game or will he have to set this game out to due to injury?

I haven't heard anything definite either way but from all accounts that knee looked terrible last Friday. If this South Point team is as bad as everyone says it would probably be good to rest him one or maybe even two more weeks. There are three more games before JC gets into district play. After all, those are the games that really matter.

Actually if the Eagles win friday night this series will be 2-1 JCHS. In 97 JCHS went to South Point and crushed the Pointers. That was the first meeting between the two teams I do believe.

I didn't get to make it to Laurel so I don't know if he played or not. Was there an injury in that game as well?

That game was something like 48-0 at South Point. It was their homecoming. I remember it because they had a big float come through with an eagle in a stew pot and their announcer during the halftime ceremonies proclaimed something like, "And now we're making our Eagle Stew!" It was about 34-0 Central at the time.

Hey guys, my little brother plays for JCHS. From what i heard from my family JC is strong on both sides just like most of people that see on here say. What you guys got to remember JC got beat alot on the deep ball last year. Did they improve?

Last year in the early part of the season JC did get burnt alot and often on the deep ball. Specifically by South Laurel and Logan, WV. But around mid-season Coach Matney made some defensive adjustments in the secondary using Tommy Taylor, Shawn Grimm, and Ian Welch. From there on out JC secondary got a lot better and held its last two formidable passing team Ashland and Mason Co. to under 100 yds passing. All that were in the secondary return off of last years squad so they are very solid in the secondary. JC has as a whole is very solid on the defensive side of the ball and can sub at almost every position without giving up to much. I think that you will see this defense hold alot of opponents to low scoring and yardage numbers.

Thats awesome! I come back from Iraq next month to watch the Eagles. I'm part of the crew the move with Matney from SC. I also heard they only give up like... 50 yards at the half. Did the secondary make any turnovers last week.

JC didnt have any INT as a recall but they did force a fumble and then recover it for a TD. Although they had a chance during the game to have as i recall 3 INT's just couldnt convert.
