Johnson Central 40 North Laurel 6

Great win for Johnson Central. Defensive Player of the game for JC Nathianel Dials, Offensive Player of the game for JC Shawn Grimm. Johnson Central was penalized 7 times for 75 yards. That is one thine Matney said they needed to avoid, if this was a close game, it could have cost Johnson Central the win.

Wsip radio said that there was around 2000 jc fans at this game. That is a great following for any team that had to travel around 2 hours to play. Johnson Central finally has a what this community has needed for a long time, pride and respect in their football team.

JC had 4 offensive td's and 1 defensive td. The special teams for both didnt sound special. North's offensive line sounded like they had a hard time blocking. But dont count NL out. JC has a tough game next week against one of the best qb's in the nation from south point, oh.

JC that good or North that bad?

Combination of both. JCHS is very solid and North has a lot of holes they needed to fill and are still looking for answers, especially on offense. They used 3 different QB's trying to find the best fit for their offense, the line really was dominated in this game, and they need to find an offensive identity. They have one primary weapon, Asher, and this makes it much easier for a defense to key on one player without other options. North has a lot of work to do and it won't get any easier next week when they play Louisville Western and Justin Collins.

Grimm is the real deal. Those I spoke with said he was very impressive. They were also impressed with JK Ratliff's arm and the potential for a solid passing game for the Eagles.

It's about time that JC has somewhat of a balanced offensive attack. The defense sounded like they are pretty tough as well. Loosing ron blume and shaun music left VERY BIG shoes to fill. Alot of questions were answered tonight. JC believes that a state title is not a dream anymore. With the way they played tonight, I'd have to say that they are right.

They had a really good crowd there, but it wasn't 2,000. More like 500. Little bit of overselling on the radio guys' part. :sssh:

JC rushed 44 times for 307 yards; they had 342 yds total to NL's 168.

JC dominated this game from the start. Grimm took the ball on the opening play for the TD and it seemed to take NL wind out of there sails. What i was most impressed with tonight was the JC defense. They were flying all over the place and were bringing it. The starting D held NL under a 100yds total offense and NL only score came on the back-ups. The Dials kid made a huge play forcing the fumble then recovering the ball in the endzone for the TD. Asher from NL never could get started cause the D-line of JC was in the backfield almost every play. JC needs to cut down on the penalties but i guess that is sort of expected with the first game of the season. JC definately has the weapons for a tough passing game just dropped alot of passes that JK Ratliff threw on the money. Congrats to JC on the win and good luck to NL on the rest of the season.

That's good their D has inproved thats what killed them last year......great job eagles:dancingpa

Josh Gourdouze sounded like a beast last night. He seemed to be in on nearly every play from the NG position. This kid is quick as a cat and will pose a big problem for big, slow offensive lines.

I just got up for a drink of water and will catch a few more Zs before catching the game on WYMT at noon. The kids got back at 3 a.m., so somebody make sure they all wake up. Had this really weird dream that Ashland lost to Raceland, or the Rose Hill 8th grade team, or somebody like that. Anybody else? Way to go Eagles!!!

Congrats to Nathaniel Dials for starting the year off as an Eagle with a bang!

Great game for the Eagles!!! the running backs all ran the ball really really well. Dillion welch and grimm were all close or over 100 yards rushing..

The JC defence was awsome they were to the ball on the handoffs as soon as the qb handed it to the running back.

They need to cut down on the penalties but other than that.... Great game
