Josh Gourdouze sounded like a beast last night. He seemed to be in on nearly every play from the NG position. This kid is quick as a cat and will pose a big problem for big, slow offensive lines.

He is going to have a great season .. he is so fast and the big line cant stop him.

This win is a good way to start the season. Matney and his crew is happy, but not satisfied. We have a very tough schedule left before we start disctrict play. The South Point, OH and Bryan Station games are going to give the team an indication of were they are at. And if that 3A state title will come back to eagleville in 2006!

Looks like the Laurel teams got swept in their bowl games this year. Nice win for Johnson Central. Good luck to both teams the rest of the year.

Great win for Johnson Central. Defensive Player of the game for JC Nathianel Dials, Offensive Player of the game for JC Shawn Grimm. Johnson Central was penalized 7 times for 75 yards. That is one thine Matney said they needed to avoid, if this was a close game, it could have cost Johnson Central the win.

They were penalized seven times for 45 yards.

My bad... I bet matney still gave them a talkin to!

You can bet that Matney told his boys they had quite a bit of work to do and will not let them get satisfied. They have to get ready this week for the #14 dual threat QB in the nation according to rivals.com. Matney will have the boys ready and "The Nest" should be rocking friday night.

On the pre-game show... Matney said that he gave his team a B+ in both of their scrimmages. I would say that this was a B+ game as well. This was what he said during that interview "If a B is the best you can do, that is fine. If a C is the best you can do, that is fine. If a D is the best you can do, that is fine. But we are a A+ team, were not going to be satisfied with a B+ game, when we know we can have an A+ game." Special teams, dropped passes and penalities will be at the top of the to-do list at practice monday.

Watched the replay on TV...JC looked pretty darn good.

And excepting a minute or two, the entire 4th quarter, offense and defense, was second team players or it could have easily been 60-0. Central made its share of mistakes, but overall played consistently well and bounced back quickly. North Laurel has some very good players and early-on you got the feeling it might be a tight game, but the Eagles wore them down with better depth, and apparently better conditioning. Lots of cramps and resulting game delays by NL. Although Central receivers dropped a few balls, NL surprised me with their ability in the secondary, and usually more than one defender was around the receiver. I think they'll win a few games for sure, and I predict they'll beat South too.

I agree. I think that Special teams, longsnapping specifically, should be an emphasis this week in practice. Bad snaps like JC had in a close game will kill you. Grimm was just amazing being able to aviod the defenders coming at him and still put off a solid punt. Asher tried it and didnt do so well.:D

JCHS is a very solid team and I congratulate them on the win. They were by far the best team tonight. However, you can compliment your team without making comments about a teenager for the opposing team.

Asher didn't do so well. Hey this kid has stepped into the spotlight and he ran into a buzz saw. Yes, Asher is a great player but was man handled by JCHS. His line better get better or it will be a long season.

My comment is directed at anyone who would put up a comment about a kid for another team not doing well and then put a little :D beside it. You can compliment your team on the win without that IMHO.

I agree 110% that the line has to step up. But I have seen this North Laurel line get worse and worse the past 2 seasons. I am curious if they have a different line coach the past few seasons or if they are trying different techniques or blocking schemes. They sure haven't worked so far. In 2 scrimmages and 1 game, the varsity offense has yet to find the end zone. The offense was inconsistent last year, but this year it just looks ragged. Their technique is bad, nobody is staying with their blocks, even when they get out on their blocks.

Also, you must realize that North is a very one dimensional team right now. They have one player to key on, and that is Asher. Maggard played very well, but didn't get many touches. He needs to touch the ball more to take the heat of off Asher. I expect to see the frosh (Wardrup) starting at QB before the end of the season. He is the best athlete of the 3 who played QB, throws a nice ball and once he gains some varsity experience, maybe they can develop a passing game. But if the line play doesn't improve, it won't matter who is playing QB.

Again, congrats to JCHS on a big season opening win. They were very impressive. I really like Ratliff's arm and think that JCHS will have a solid passing game before the season is out. When they get their timing down, watch out! Also, has Tommy Taylor ever caught a pass that wasn't a TD?!? If I remember correctly, every pass he caught last year was for a score. Not a bad ratio!

For North, it doesn't get any easier. Grimm is an excellent back and deserves all the props he gets, but North will see another great back next week in Justin Collins from Louisville Western. That kid's numbers from last year were staggering and he apparently is even faster than he was last year. :scared:

Hey, I agree 100%. That wasn't cool at all. North Laural has a good team but they need to find another threat. I was listening to radio friday night and the NL O didn't move the ball at all without Asher.

Listen, everyone out in Kentucky? Shane Asher is the real deal! If his o line get's better than he will be awesome.
