  1. I believe you're missing my point here. What I'm suggesting is that all the coaches get together and form a program that is going to benefit all of them. This is not a way to get everyone to play football but a way to keep everyone on the same page as far as working out and being more academic. Yes I know that several of the sports do over lap but an effort among all of the sports would benefit everyone IMO.
  2. First of all, congrats to him and I hope he makes the right decision that benefits him both in academics and athletics. Second of all, can someone please forward me the sites everyone locates all this information on recruiting of athletes.
  3. Newport's staff IMO has already started in the right direction. Discipline is a big part of a program being successful. The staff has proven that they are in the business of promoting discipline and involving academics too. The off season should be a plus for the team. I stated before there are lot of students that play year round sports so there has to be a connection with the other coaches to unite and develop a solid program that will benefit everyone. Newport's program will develop because they have a coach in place that wants the best for everyone and all of the programs.
  4. The only problems I foresee with the off season program is that so many of your players play other sports. Newport is a small school and students play more than one sport. IMO I believe it would be helpful with all of Newport's programs if all the coaches would sit down together from every sport and come up with a program that would benefit all of them to keep the students involved and working out. IMO this would be a win win for everyone.
  5. I'm not completely 100% on this but I believe the state use to give each cities some funding to assist with officer's court pay. Now, I believe a few years ago when the state began having budget issues the state took that funding away.
  6. My prayers are with her and her family.
  7. Can we get a poll put together on this one?
  8. I'm glad Jacks is not leaving the club. Next week will be awesome.
  9. I believe Newport might just surprise DeSales in this one. Newport 16 DeSales 8
  10. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
  11. Newport is the #4 seed going against #1 seed DeSales and IMO I believe Newport has a good chance of beating DeSales. Newport's offense is quick and the line has been improving as the season has progressed. Newport's defense has improved with the return of #30 Short. This is not the same team as it was a few weeks ago so don't be surprised if Newport pulls a win out of this one.
  12. Coach Hyder is a good coach and things did not go well for him during his two seasons as the head coach at Newport. The new staff at Newport is exactly what Newport needs to rebuild the program. You cannot expect any coach to walk in the door and turn the program around in the first season. Newport has some talented players and will be a force to deal with in the next coming seasons.
  13. Hayes has played with the Newport Fire Fighters since he was about 5 years old. His family recently moved to the Ft Thomas area over the summer. He is a hard runner and hits like a truck. Hayes will be a force to deal with in high school.
  14. Does anyone have any info on Newport's freshmen for this season? I've heard rumor that they have a new coach this season.
  15. My prayers are with your wife and your family.
  16. I'm going with NewCath in this one. NewCath is bog up front and has a strong offensive backfield. Beechwood IMO is a tough team but I just believe NewCath will come out ahead in this one. NewCath 35 Beechwood 18
  17. Cooper's freshmen team is a very solid group. It is hard to single out anyone player IMO. They play together and thats makes them IMO a team that will be a force in the 6A in coming seasons.
  18. I had a chance to catch the Highlands / SK playoff game last week. IMO I saw some good football and I can truly say that the future looks great for both teams. A lot of talent on both sides of the ball.
  19. Baldwin #3 is the QB for Newport and has good height and skills. IMO what hampered his play was the lack of a solid o-line. Newport o-line was not as solid as the past Newport freshmen o-lines. There are some good linemen for Newport but they need to realize that they can do the job if they work together. The linemen were lead by Nolan at left guard. Nolan has the potential but needs to hit the weights. Newport also has a linebacker that should see some varsity action next year. Stull #10 is a aggressive LB and also plays fullback too. Garland #2 is the primary RB for the freshmen and runs the ball good. Fisher is the big TE for Newport and has great size but needs to work on his skills on catching the ball. IMO the biggest obstacle for Newport freshmen is maturity. Once they realize this is high school football and it takes hard work to be successful they will be more competitive.
  20. IMO Newport will come out ahead in this one. Newport has been struggling but also showing signs of improvement as the season has progressed. Newport has a good size line that needs to be more solid in their play. With the addition of Watson it has given the Cats a more aggressive running back. Short made his return against HC and has proven that he is back. Newport IMO is an improved team with Short and Watson and will come out on top in this one. Newport 21 Cooper 12
  21. In all reality if you were to base this game on the fact that Cooper is a 6A school and Beechwood is a 1A school you would clearly assume Cooper will win big. IMO Beechwood has a tradition of knowing how to put a "W" in the win column so I'm going with the small school in this one. It will be a good game overall but I see it as Beechwood by 6.
  22. Can we also get a poll on this thread started too?
  23. I believe this one will be a close game. Both teams are playing some great football and getting ready for the playoffs too. This could be one of those games where you see a lot of second string players in toward the end of the third quarters. IMO not because of the score but in order to prevent injuries to any starters before the playoffs start.
  24. Can anyone please tell me how the AA playoffs are going to be this year? I know that everyone will play someone outside their district but what district plays each other is what I'm looking for.
