  1. Not to get off the subject of SK indoor facility but IMO I enjoyed playing against Highlands at their facility. HHS facility has that school yard feel to it. You walk in there and you realize this is football. SK and Coach Marksberry and his staff has built a top notch program that will hopefully continue success. IMO if you have the donors and support for an indoor facility then build it. More than ever schools need their alumni to step up and help make the programs successful. Not only in their sports but their academics as well. If you can succeed with the academics and extra activities you will have a top notch school system. One thing that really gets to me is that you are constantly hearing from alumni that the old school isn't the same or alumni transferring their children to other schools. Maybe if that alumni would step up and help solve the problems instead of running away from them - the old school would be as good for your children as it was for you. SK I applaud your alumni and donors for stepping up to help the school. Just remember the academics too.
  2. I would assume that funding is coming from private donors. SK is still in the Kenton County school system so I believe that if the KC school board was doing this for SK they would have to do it for Scott and Dixie. Private donors and alumni can really help a program achieve success with upgraded facilities and improve class rooms to draw more people to the community. It makes you wonder where are the private donors and alumni for some of the other top notch programs.
  3. Newport to my understanding only used sophomores against teams that used them when they played each other.
  4. Newport should surprise a lot of teams this coming season. From what I'm hearing they have a couple of transfers that will truly add the punch that Coach Russell has been looking for. IMO Newport and Highlands will be the teams leading the way in their district.
  5. I believe you may be referring to a transfer from Newport. He is a good kid and plays hard so Highlands will prosper from another transfer from Newport.
  6. Dayton has a great coaching staff. The staff is dedicated to the team and the community. IMO the problem I see with Dayton football is the same you see with several other teams. The problem is that too many people get it in their heads that little johnny (or Joe) needs to be transferred to a school that has a program that is currently succeeding. Dayton has had several talented players move on to other programs so this does have an effect on a program. It all starts with tradition and people realizing you have to be loyal to the program if you want results.
  7. This game has been switched to Wednesday at 5:00 at Holy Cross.
  8. Newport will host Holy Cross - game is scheduled for Thursday at 6:00.
  9. Thank you for clearing that up - just one quick note - Newport is 2A . :thumb:
  10. So is this a put down to the teams they have played? Cooper has a good group - so let's not put down the smaller schools that have fewer numbers.
  11. Numbers are low - yes - but the talent is there it needs to be molded.
  12. You are so right - every once in awhile a solid group comes along to compete - IMO - Newport Frosh has some talented players - they just didn't produce - Cooper has a good team - good numbers - very discipline too - now would their season be different if they were in the big school bracket - maybe but who really knows - time will tell.
  13. Newport O-line wasn't able to stop the faster D-line of Cooper - this forced Newport's QB to hurry the passes - Newport's running backs couldn't get much going either - overall the O-line just didn't get the job done tonight. Cooper has a good group and should be a force as they mature into varsity players. Newport also has some good players and with time will develope into good varsity players.
  14. Can anyone confirm this - Holmes was playing some sophomores in this game.
  15. Great start - can't wait for next weeks show.
  16. !. Highlands 2. Simon Kenton 3. Conner 4. Ryle 5. Boone County 6. Dixie 7. Campbell County 8. Holy Cross 9. Holmes 10. Beechwood / NewCath Honorable Mention - Bellevue
