Elly Ogle committs to LSU
This is a perfect fit for Elly. The coaches of LSU are top notch individuals and they were outstanding on the recruiting end with Elly. They attended as many of her basketball games as they did her volleyball games which is pretty cool. Elly has dedicated her life to sports and volleyball in general and I couldn't think of a better place for Elly to be. She is a super girl and deserves this. Great job Elly!

NDA Vball Question
I'll add that the DEDICATION and COMMITTMENT level of the players and parents is UNMATCHED in Louisville..... Can anyone name a school in N Ky that comes in every morning before school to work out(weight training, Plyos, etc.) , shower, and then go to class....then come back after school for a 2-3 hour practice...and do it on a CONSISTENT basis???? You can physically see the difference between the athletes who take these extra steps!! IMO, this is AS BIG of factor in the gap Louisville has made in volleyball than having a "top club coach".

Volleyball season starting soon!
I just heard the same thing. All of their local volleyball games are being played at the "away" team's school...some of the Louisville teams that scheduled matches with NDA will be played at either Thomas More or NKU.

Soccer at Beechwood?
Honestly, while I agree with so many things you state, I disagree with this one..... Besides a handful of volleyball parents and the v-ball coach, no one was outspoken on the ordeal. Thought more coaches and the band director would join the cause as this precedent that has been set by the administration could possibly effect one of their programs in the future. As a matter of fact...these same few volleyball parents tried to drum up support from parents from the band and football team to stand up for the facts being presented ......They saw NO ONE from either band or football faithful at the meetings. On the flip side, I can also see why none of the coaches spoke out publically. Quick....$$$$ talks....and you know the people who have used that trump card recently to get their wishes! Obviously SBDM did not care either...they knew the IMMEDIATE impact it would have on the volleyball program...not to mention they went against their own rule and started a soccer program with less than 16 girls!!!!!

Matt Long-Beechwood
You are 100% correct....it has only been that way for 6 years or so. Not trying to minimize the impact Football has on Beechwood......Just stating that the V-ball program was self-sufficient as of recent. Everyone knows Beechwood Football without a doubt IS Beechwood's backbone....it wouldn't stand without it! The football team has ALWAYS supported the v-ball program. They get psyched up for the v-ball games...they are definitley a 7th player on the court for the girls!!!! There is nothing but LOVE for Noel and the Tigers!

Volleyball season starting soon!
Thanks for the info....they have moved it in the past I know. Isn't NDA getting an A/C?? I heard they were? I understand not showing your cards at the scrimmage...still fun to watch........:thumb:

Soccer at Beechwood?
:thumb:It had been discussed 10 years(boys) ago and it was SHOT down before it started...... you can't touch the football team....but who cares how we affect the volleyball team......:walk:

Matt Long-Beechwood
How about his family...is that a good enough reason Joe?

Matt Long-Beechwood
I agree with alot of what you said...but volleyball paid for itself most years and was self-sufficient. Football funds did not carry the volleyball team. That could change this year though..... They did alot of fundraising to make money so they could do overnight trips to Louisville, buy t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. The volleyball gate alone paid for almost all of the v-ball expenses.

Volleyball season starting soon!
NDA and NCC will run things in Northern Ky. this year. In my opinion these two teams will be representing their regions at the State tourney. I'd love to see these two teams play in regular season....it could happen at the LIVT. Are both teams entered into this tournament? Also, Anyone know when the NCC vs NDA scrimmage is?

All A Volleyball tournament
Since it will be the inagural year, there is alot of tweaking going on, like the dates...but here is what I last heard, and best info. I can give.... For the last couple years there has been a lot of talk around the state about starting a single A volleyball tournament. Well we are finally getting it off the ground. It will be held at the Mid American Volleyball Academy in Louisville on Oct 1th, 11th and 12th. (may be diff't now) There will be two teams from each region in a three day, seven match tournament. There are already regional directors for each of the 16 regions. The format to get two representatives to state will be decided by the teams involved. Some are using head to head play, others are using a tournament, some have already established conference play and others are using a combination of systems. Alls that matters is that two teams will be recommended to play in the "state All-A tourny. If you use a regional tournament then it will cost you a tournament in your scheduling. If your team makes it to the state tourny then it will cost you another tournament. That is the way all the other single a events are run. I wish it could be different, but that how it goes. (KHSAA limit of 20 matches...3 of those 20 can be tournaments) The money made from the regional events will be handled by the regional participants. The cost of the state event is going to be covered by gate receipt and sponsors. The MAVA facility will not cost us anything. They are only going to take concessions. If the cost isn't covered by gate, and sponsors then the cost will be billed to all 32 teams. We currently have 2 sponsors and they should cover 1/3 the cost. Bring lots of fans. Even if we make no money at all the cost shouldn't be more then a standard 5 match tourny. Your regional Rep will have a lot of answers. There are already a lot of regions that plan on sending representatives to this event. If a region can't send two for some reason we will be sending our at large bids. I hope we don't have to do that though. This event has nothing to do with the KHSAA district, regional or state competition that goes on at the end of the season. This is just anouther tourny like any of the other three you go to during the year. It only allows a certian type of school. Just like the big tournaments do.
