I think it is split just like soccer, but do not know exact numbers. :thumb: :thumb: Exactly...and that is why that power to seed or not seed should not be left in each schools hands to decide!!

I think this issue was discussed at a coaches association meeting this past Monday. I think it was pretty much shot down and ignored...

Then Hooray for the lesser team!!!...at least the seeds are in place. It is not about record, it is about sending the best team to regionals. Have you ever watched the NCAA tournament and seen an upset? Same principle...at least they got seeded where they belonged!(for the most part)

It matters alot...the top two teams from districts go to Regionals! There is alot on the line if you win the 1st match...you win the first match in some districts...you are automatically in the Regionals. At least when you seed, most of the time you are getting the best teams to move on to Regionals.

Thanks for the info. CVB. Very frustrating format...and I unfortunately realize it isn't going to change anytime soon... but somebody's gotta try...no one else is. There should be some kind of end of the season GOAL that every team should strive for, and that goal is sort of taken away from you when you do a blind draw in Districts. You lose control of your own destiny and some other school or AD is in control of that???

How about just moving it back to a 2-and-Out tournament... That is fair, and then there are no questions on who is the best team!! From what i hear, they moved it from 2-and-out to 1-and-out because there were teams(mostly teams in eastern/southern Ky) travelling very far, 2-3 times a week to play these games and the KHSAA thought it was too much. Has anyone else heard that?? Why can't this be done in 1-2 days. Do it on the weekend if you have to....just make it FAIR!

:thumb: :thumb: I TOTALLY AGREE!!! This is a great Mid-season tournament to get your volleyball team in gear for "post-season play. Or so you'd think? This is where I think the blind draw becomes silly! Coaches and AD's are trying to get their teams in the best possible tournamaments to better their team. The girls go out, travel, put up $$$, sweat out 3-4 matches in a day, playing the BEST TEAMS in the state(not padding you Win-loss ratio by playing sub-par teams like some teams do), give it their all, and then find out they have a blind draw to determine their fate?? BOO on that!! I also agree that this tourney is the closest we come to a "True" State tournament. :thumb: As a matter of fact, alot of people treat this tournaments' final standings as the "true" State tournament Championships. Thanks to Ron Kordes for putting it on every year!!!

Never been to the Sweet Sixteen, but I have heard it is an awesome experience. In your opinion, is there better competition in the 1st round of the Basketballl games or Volleyball games? Just wondering how level the playing field is...Is basketball divided into classes?

I wish I could tell you a few things I overheard a Ludlow coach/support person say regarding the district draw and their opinion of the season and when it should end...but I will not stoop to your level.... I just want to know what you think of the district setup...not how you feel about Beechwood. I think you have some things you need to get over...like Beechwood?

I'll take that, because it is at least across the board. Still seems like a loss of the meaning of sports and competition.(if there were blind draws)

I at least agree BIGZIG that the KHSAA would screw it up if they tried to fix this... I do not agree that each school should have the power to choose to seed or not seed. Reason for post is merley to see how many people think the set up is flawed and to get opinions and even suggestions?? I have been(for 3 years) and will keep trying to change this setup as I think it is not "TRUE COMPETITION"!

Anyone think that the KHSAA has left unseeded Districts "out in the cold"? Why is there not a standard, ACROSS THE BOARD, mandating either seeding or no seeding. There should not be a choice. The power to choose to seed or not seed should not be left in the hands of each school to decide....The KHSAA should have that power...IMO. They mandate us on all other issues...why not this one?

Don't know who is signing this week, but heard St. Henry Junior midlle hitter Stephanie Niemer has at least verbally committed to University of Cincinnati.

I think they voted the 16th of October, before Regionals

THere will be a NKGVCA (Northern Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Awards) banquet on Nov. 10th. At this banquet there will be 3 awards given out for each Division. And yes, the Post and Enquirer do one also, but only one.
