  1. we all know...any team on any given night can beat anyone!
  2. Does anyone know whether #33 will play or not for Fairview? Any other injuries/player info for either team ?
  3. CV - interesting that LCA beats Raceland and Raceland goes to #8 whilke LCA goes to #17!? Whatsup widdat? Kind of looks like the BCS polls where OSU gets ranked 4th and Texas is 2nd AFTER OSU beats Texas!

  6. Paris is 3-1 and Fairview is coming off a 26-0 loss to District foe Bath Co... What are the thoughts on this tightly contested and evenly matched opponents?
  7. Havent they had several Coaching changes over the recent years as well? That makes it difficult to get continuity/consistency with the kids - thus the number of players coming is reflected... I hope Berea kids stick it out - because they HAVE to love the game under these conditions.
  8. Old Rambler! Well...at least you are STILL a BUCKEYE fan!
  9. LCA is throwing MORE this season...went to the Tony Franklin style offense... probably 25-35 passes/game... I also thought Raceland would beat LCA by 2-3 TD's - just goes to show what I know!
  10. GC - I thought last week, based upon similar data, that Fairview would beat Bath - but THAT didnt happen! So, I kind of posted those stats more of a "for what its worth" statement... I should also point out that Bath Co is 4-0 while LCA is 3-2 so farthis season. This should be a very hard-fought battle and it may come down to which team has the depth and stamina for the 4th quarter. I look forward to watching this one!
  11. Spindoc - read Posts 29 thru 41 to get the STATS on the REF's...it is "water under the bridge now", but really - the KHSAA should review the game films sometimes and evaluate the refs occasionally...
  12. I am posting this for information ONLY - no judgements: Bath Co. vs Opponents: W.Carter (3-2) (2A) 35-25 Won Lewis Co (0-5) (2A) 21-0 Won Morgan CO (0-4) (2A) 32-18 Won Fairview (2-3) (1A) 26-0 Won 114-43 outscored opponents Opponents records equal 5-14 LCA vs. opponents: Mercer Co. (5-0) (2A) 0-63 Lost DeSales (1-3) (2A) 28-10 Won CAL (1-3) (2A) 21-0 Won Corbin (1-4) (2A) 7-20 Lost Raceland (4-1) (1A) 21-10 Won 77-103 outscored by Opponents Opponents records equal 11-11 Food for thought - if meaningful - probably not...
  13. Rams - 42 Berea - 7 This will be a good HOMECOMING win to get the RAMS offense back on track to what we all know they CAN do! I do know LCA's defense and Coaching preparation was a huge difference in last week's game - but Berea doesnt have either to there advantage this week. Good luck to both teams!
  14. Thanks! I think I am over it now...but it was pretty bad to watch - even the Raceland fans were commenting about how blatant these refs were...I think they were embarrassed for the refs that they couldnt even disguise it better! http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/ubb/jump.gif :jump:
  15. A huge win for their program and a great start in the District! Good job Bath Co. players & coaches! We look forward to seeing you next week!
  16. penalties raceland 5-34 yds lca 11-112 yds
  17. Those refs were consistent! Cinsistently bad! The worst I have ever seen! But fortunately LCA was able to overcome the blatantly bad calls. good thing we won or I would really be whining about them!
  18. My heritage, from the Ben Pumphrey lineage! Our little Freshmen, qb-witt & rb-hatden did an awesome job! the qb - his 1st start ever at varsity - controlled the game wiwth scrambling and passing decisions! he was 12-22 for 231 yds and 2 td & 2 ints our defense was the difference! #3 for raceland has some jets for feet!
  19. Radio - Thanks! And that Heart is what makes ALL FOOTBALL games so much fun! Any team CAN beat any other team on any given night...it all boils down to hustle, heart and desire because it IS such an emotional and passionate game! I LOVE the Fall because of FOOTBALL SEASON! http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/ubb/banana.gif
  20. Bob was chosen Coach of the Week by Atlanta club - all is well! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- North takes momentum into Region 7 opener By Will Hammock Sports Editor will.hammock@gwinnettdailypost.com Four or five years ago, Bob Sphire talked with some of his fellow head coaches in Kentucky about football in metro Atlanta. The other coaches spoke specifically about Gwinnett County, and in detail about two perennial powers, Parkview and Brookwood. So Sphire, now in his first season as North Gwinnett’s head coach, has known about Brookwood’s tradition for years. He got to experience it firsthand last Friday, and the result was outstanding for the visiting Bulldogs, who scored a 10-3 win that many in the Georgia football community didn’t predict. “I don’t have any illusions that anybody outside our (North) circle thought we’d win the game,” Sphire said. “Maybe a former player or a parent thought we might win the game. But nobody thought we’d win except for the ones in the locker room. And they’re the ones that matter.” North has passed its first two major tests of the Sphire era with wins over Walton and Brookwood, both on the road. Now the next challenge is the home opener — and Region 7-AAAAA opener — this Friday at home vs. Mill Creek. It’s tough to come back from such an emotional win, but Sphire hopes his past experience helps out. He built a traditional power in Kentucky at Lexington Catholic and took it to great heights, so getting his players refocused after a big win is nothing new. “This isn’t my first rodeo trying to manage success,” Sphire said. “We saw that building the program at Lexington Catholic. As you win, the bandwagon starts to swell. We’re glad people in the community want a piece of us now. They want to identify themselves with the program. That’s where you want to be. But managing the success is an important factor, and I’m certainly cognizant of that. “I don’t know whether (getting back down to earth) will be a problem or not. We’ll find out.” Sphire and his coaches couldn’t help but be encouraged by last week’s effort vs. the Broncos, which saw the Michael Tamburo-led offense do good things against a very talented Brookwood defense. The Bulldogs moved the ball well and had opportunities to score more points than they did. But the defense was even better. From Jasper Williams’ sack on the first play, the unit set the tone. The coach also praised the strong play of his defensive linemen Eric Eberhardt, Steve Buffington and Robert Pritchard along with linebackers Eloka Anyaorah and Chris Knox. All in all, it’s been a pretty good start for the Sphire era at North. “Everybody’s giving these kids a lot of kudos and they deserve them, not me,” Sphire said. “And these assistant coaches have done a yeoman’s job. They’ve come in here and prepared these kids well.” Please visit http://gwinnettdailypost.com :: gwinnettdailypost.com.
  21. CV - I dont actually travel on the bus...but I will be getting to the field around 7pm to set up Stats, etc...I will call you upon arrival - HUNGRY of course!
  22. OldRambler - I have seen Mike Fields with the H-L be pretty fair about his coverage - the other thing is to get coverage you HAVE to have somebody give them the data - the more data & support & information they get - the more coverage they give you! Make sure your AD or Person in charge of the press correspondence hooks up with me tonight and I can get Mike Fields' email and contact info to them.
  23. Radio - siting the records of teams played does NOT imply a lack of respect for Bath Co...Schedules are made sometimes 2 years in advance and no one knows what the competition will be... my postings simply recognized the observation that the teams Bath Co has played so far are WIN-LESS overall this season - which DOES imply they are having down years or have a strong schedule... I seriously doubt anyone on this thread meant any ill-will to the Bath Co kids, coaches, fans or program. If you go back and read the postings again, I think you will discover more celebration and congratulations to Bath Co than derogatory comments. Your District peers are supporting the fact that Bath Co has made great strides with the program and we are all excited for you. Sorry for getting long-winded on this, but it is easy for all of us to read one statement and interpret it as a slam or lack of respect to our teams...I assure you that was not the intent behind anything I have seen relating to this game or to your program/kids. Good luck tomorrow evening against Fairview!
  24. TT - no sweat - this is how they have to do it...nothing wrong with that. My observations are simply this: I am picking Fairview to win based upon their records and the records of those teams they played and how they played them... Based upon the level of competition and those results, I would logically conclude that Fairview "should" win this game...I, like Tough As Nails, have not seen either team play yet this year and so all I can do is analyze "data" as I can find it... Records are about all I can find and so we start analyzing those in order to conclude a theory...Bath is 3-0 against teams who are "0-fer" with one team in common between FV & BC which is Lewis Co... Sometimes we get on these threads and try to calculate things on a game that is FULL of emotion and desire that is not at all measurable or consistent on any given night...that is the beauty of FOOTBALL isnt it? Good luck to both teams and safety for them as well.
  25. No problem...I can take it - and I knew you guys were having fun at my expense...dont worry - I also dish it out once in a while as well! It will be great to meet you guys tomorrow evening!
