  1. WHat is so great about NCC at HOLMES? I heard that field is mostly dirt now and not much grass left...
  2. I thought the Current Level break was at 600 or 650 to move to 2A? This is why I stated LCA is in the lower half of the 1A schools as far as size of student population... I could be wrong...it has happened before...MANY times!
  3. Not unless there are some new rules employed... We only have 390 kids in 9-12th grades...WELL below the 2A jump... LCA is still one of the smaller 1A schools.
  4. SF25 - you are welcome and thank you for being so gracious. This game was won by LCA because they were definitely HUNGRY for it and their Seniors stepped up and made plays when they needed them - on both sides of the ball. We even had our starting center go down in the 1st quarter and brought a Freshmen in to finish the game - did a great job! If anyone was AT the game - they would tell you that LCA played with passion and motivation the entire game and they just earned this victory...sometimes a really good team doesn't look as good because of the way their opponent is playing - and I believe this was the case tonight - Beechwood is a VERY good team and WE ALL respect them, their fans and coaches - CLASS is an absolute part of their TRADITION! Great year Beechwood and we hope we can say that you were beat by this years STATE CHAMPIONS - like we did last year...
  5. We lose 8 seniors...7 skilled position players and one lineman. This is a large class of seniors for us to lose! 5 of them play both ways all the time and the others play both ways alot of the time. As far as re-loading with athletes - yes ...experienced - no. These underclassmen have been playing in the shadows of those 8 seniors for 3 years...We will be a young, but aggressive & talented team over the next couple of years - with a Sophomore QB next year and several in-coming freshmen making an impact (Tyrell Hayden's younger brother Dominic!)
  6. Bardstown 42 vs. Frankfort 13 Class A Football State Tournament Danville 32 vs. Holy Cross (Louisville) 31 Class A Football State Tournament triple overtime Lexington Christian 43 vs. Beechwood 20 Class A Football State Tournament Mayfield 34 vs. Crittenden County 6 Class A Football State Tournament Metcalfe County 52 vs. Murray 6 Class A Football State Tournament Newport Central Catholic 45 Bellevue at Holmes 7 Class A Football State Tournament Paintsville 28 vs. Lynn Camp 27 Class A Football State Tournament Somerset 35 vs. Pikeville 7 Class A Football State Tournament
  7. Sounds great! That way they can EARN their half of the gate!
  8. The schedule is the schedule...LCA beefed up its schedule this year and that earned us some respect. We have NO CONTROL over what DISTRICT opponents we play or how good/bad they are - we just have to play them and hope for the best... WHAT did Beechwood look like after its 5th year of Football? Did you have TRADITION then? Step back and look at LCA's program and understand that COach Rains has done a tremendous job with this group of Seniors he took over as Sophomores (8-3 in 2003, 8-3 in 2004, 10-1 this year)...LCA is too young to have a TRADITION yet... Beechwood has GROWN into being able to play the schedule you do and I think LCA wants to get to that point as well - Beechwood, NCC, Bellevue and Northern KY football is AWESOME and I am a huge fan of the top quality athletes and coaches up there! Envious actually...At least we want to emulate the BEST programs! Good luck to both teams and let's pray for NO INJURIES to anyone tonight.
  9. Blah, blah, blah... Let the whistle blow and let's play ball! This is the playoffs - no one knows what can happen on any given night and I think this will be a VERY close game... I respect Coach Yeagle, Beechwood tradition, and the strength of schedule of Beechwood - afterall, they are 8-3 and still ranked in the top 5 in Class A! Nuff said! However, LCA has the respect this year of those who are paid to study these things and are ALSO ranked in the top 5...LCA's GOALS are to be like Beechwood - that is a compliment! LCA DOES have 1st-2nd graders wearing LCA Football jerseys around because we know HOW to build a program as well - it starts in ELEMENTARY(our 3rd year of having it) and builds from there. Granted, LCA does NOT have the playoff experience of a Beechwood - but WHO does! Beechwood is rich in tradition and they know HOW to play Football! Give our kids SOME credit boys - THEY have paid their dues since 7th grade - believe me on that. And I do not mean they got to win a bunch of games either - on the contrary - they got their heads beat in up to their Sophomore year and they know what they are working for and they KNOW what stands in their way - THIS will be a VERY good game, regardless of the outcome. Go EAGLES!
  10. I can email you or text message form the game - either one... Let me know your preference via PM...
  11. It looks like the "swinging gate" with the QB 12 yds back in shotgun and the center and 1 lineman at the ball...all other linemen/backs are lined up 10-15 yards to the side and the QB can actually throw the ball to the tackle & the center if he wishes...routes are usually short because the QB doesnt have that much time to throw due to an un-blocked rusher or 6!
  12. Bluto, Do you have enough G2 on Beechwood yet to predict an outcome? "You mind if we dance wif yo' dates?"
  13. LCA has a planned limitation on their enrollment in order to preserve the HIGH academics they enjoy within the school - results are very clear on ACT/SAT scores and % of LCA student that go onto College... LCA will be in today's 1A system for another 3 years and then will go no larger than "today's" 2A by design.
  14. That was my thought process...LCA misses one EP!
  15. LCA over Beechwood in a VERY good game... LCA 34 - Beechwood 28 I believe the LCA passing attack along with their multi-talented running game will prevail and be a huge WIN for the young and growing LCA program that Rains and his Staff are putting together. LCA's defense has proven to be able to handle the running game this year and Krueger (QB) has a lot of confidence this year (won the MVP in the State Baseball Championship).
  16. LCA (1A) defeated both of these teams early in the season... LCA over Desales 38-19 Team 1st Downs Run/Pass Yards Run/Pass TimePoss. LCA 7/6 194/209 21:04 Desales 13/3 263/50 26:56 5 of 18 passes with 2INT's by LCA LCA over Corbin 42-30 Team 1st Downs Run/Pass Yards Run/Pass TimePoss. LCA 15/5 410/104 27:08 Corbin 6/15 126/225 20:52 20 of 40 passes with 2INT's by LCA I think I will pick Corbin on this one - they were young and I think they are a different team than when LCA played them in the 4th week. Although, Desales studs were cramping in the 1st half really bad - which had soemthing to do with the results of that game in the 2nd week as well.
  17. BELLEVUE did beat them 27-21! NOW what do you say?
  18. It appears to be advantage to Beechwood on this one because: 1. Experience in Playoffs 2. Storied program 3. LCA beat Fairview 28-14 where Beechwood beat Fairview 55-13 4. LCA beat HC 55-13 and Beechwood beat HC 35-3 (this is adv:LCA) Should be a great game because LCA has motivated Seniors... It will ALL depened upon the turnovers in this one!
  19. I think the best coaching has to begin next week with the start of the playoffs and the results form there all the way to the State championship game will determine WHO the BEST Coaches are this year... I agree that there are many worthy candidates at this point - but some of them will drop in the ratings as the playoff picture unfolds. Good luck to all of these fine coaches mentioned here. Also, I believe the caliber of coaches we have in Kentucky is indicative of how much better KY HS football (not UK) is getting!
  20. This amendment to the constitution was voted down today by the KHSAA board of control 9 - 8 with one vote being absent. But it still must go to State Board of Education to be voted on and they could go with delegate vote and overrule board of control, the governor and legislature will also have a say in the outcome.
