Powell is a dangerous team, but I will take the Lady Cats by 15.

Shocker. This means that it is possible for Hazard and JBS to play in the first round of the tourney.

Savanna Tharpe for Powell County led them throughout the game. But with a minute left in the 3rd she went to the bench and didnt return unit 5 minutes to go in the 4th. She was packing Powell throughout the game but didnt return until Estill got the lead.

Coach Bobrowski had a great run at Owsley County 2 district championships and 3 consecutive Regional All A tourney Championships.

THis must be the game of the night.

If he doesnt return, I think that Coach Angel is an excellent choice to replace him. He has helped coach Wright for several years and his JV teams have been good not to mention the kids play their heart out for him.

Lee County had an excellent JV team this year. The Charles kid will be a force in the region in the next couple of years. As well as getting Pelphrey back healthy for a whole season.

I have spoke with several people this week at the tourney and they have all complimented on the tournament and the hospitality room. Some folks from Estill County told me that this was the best district tournament host school that they had ever been to.

Back to Back championships for Hazard. I would hate to play Buckhorn in the regional tournament though. They will give a district winner some major problems.

If I recall, didnt Coach Wright start to resign two years ago when Owsley beat Lee in the first round of the district tournament at Wolfe County? But he chose to come back, the next year he won the district and went to the state All A classic.

Congrats to Coach Lewis and Leslie County. PCC took a bad loss when Madden went out.

Good come from behind win for Estill County. A hard fought game for both teams. But Estill was able to get momentum and they finished strong.

Lets hope that The Owls have a little magic left in them.

Cackling impressed me tonight,he will be an excellent player. Berryman was a non factor in tonights game. I hate to see him go out the way he did.

I agree several good coaches never make it to the Sweet 16 but are very successful. Owsley County' former Coach Charlie Turner won over 200 games and 5 or 6 56th district championships as well as two 14th region runner up finishes and several semi final apperances in his 10 year career with the Owls.

It was not intentional by no means she came down bad on it and fell. Jones fell on her because she was trying to seal her off with a box out. I talked with several Powell County players and fans tonight and they all asked about her and wished her the best.

It is great to see the small schools represented in the regionals.

Good game all of the way. The officials let both teams play. Estill had 4 players foul out. Number 10 for Powell County was on fire and Romans who was quiet in the first half played well in the second. Christopher had a good game for Estill. But I was most impressed with Estill County's #4 and 33, I think that #4 is a sophmore but he was very impressive. It was a great atmosphere with almost a capacity crowd at Owsley County's "Palace". Cant wait till Saturday night.
