The Lady Owls ended a three game losing streak by defeating their arch rival Lee County in front of the home crowd tonight in Booneville. In what was both teams first game in over 2 weeks the lady owls led by 5 points at the end of the first. With the help of the full court press Owsley was able to outscore the lady Kats 25 to 14. To take a 37 to 20 lead at the half. Owsley led by as many as 28 but Lee count was able to cut the lead to 12 points in the 4th quarter before Owsley was able to pull away for their 14 win of the season. Stats. Good win for the Tigers. This may give them some confidence to close out the season on a roll.

Buckhorn is improving with every game. I will take the Horn by 8.

Owsley County had some momentum going with about 4 minutes to go in the 4th quarter and had cut Wolfe's lead to 5. Then Owsley County's Matt Wright was charged with an intentional foul and a few words later he recieved a technical. This was a momentum swing. Wolfe went up by 8 with 3 free throws and they never looked back.

Hopefully Lewis is ok. In my opinion Leslie is one of the top three teams in the region. Below PCC and Close to Breathitt.

That must be nice. We never got to eat after losses.

Kentucky is one of the few states that doesnt class basketball. For several small schools the only chance that they have for a state championship is during this tournament. It is hard for a school with a population of 300 to compete agianst teams with 300 in their senior class. The All A may not be the most noticeable state tournament but it is a state tournament. This is a great tourney for the small schools. It isn't everday that a Hickory Highschool will defeat the big boys.

Mike Jones is probably the most logical choice. I cant see Billy Hicks leaving Scott County. He has a powerhouse team each year. But anything is possible.

Both teams are good. I think Hazard should win by 8 points. But since the game is at Powell who knows. I have learned that their isnt a team in the state that can gurantee a win at Powell.

Leslie should win this one by 10+

Unless there is a major upset. Looks like Wolfe and Breathitt are going to the region.

Glad to see PCC and Hazard draw opposites. Buckhorn is a dangerous team and Leslie just defeated PCC. Should make for an interesting district.

I bet you would even put money on that. Lee County in a close game.

I listened to this game. It was 30 to 18 at halftime with PCC leading. JBS came out in the second half and trailed until about a minute and a half to go when they tied it up. Jon Amis of PCC hit his 4th 3 pointer to put PCC up by three with 2 seconds to go. I think Clark Stepp finished with 15 but had a terrible night shooting the ball. Collins for JBS had 10+ blocks. Looks like Big Al has the Commodores peaking at the right time.

You can gurantee that you will be treated well. Like the Professor said it is a small gym, so get there early. Several Ref's have told me that Owsley County is one of the best places to play a high school game and I have to agree. Also players, officials, and administrators, you are in luck with the hospitality room, I would put it up agianst any in the state.

I heard that Hicks missed 16 of his 18 three pointers. If Hicks is hitting you win, if he is not Hazard loses.

I have to say that Breathitt is a good team. But they are very beatable. If Breathitt has to play in a full court game, they are not going to play well. Breathitt has to play half court ball in order to win. Perry Central is the best team in this region and a notch or two above the rest. Yes, I know that Breathitt beat them in December, but Perry had also played several games that same week and was very tired. Breathitt is the number two team in the region and have a great chance of going to the state. I think that Peggy Moore deserves it as a coach but I just dont see any team beating PCC.

It will be hard to defeat Estill at Home. Give me the Engineers by 5.

When JBS plays team ball they are a force. But when they play Stepp ball and take Collins and Cox out of the game, they drop down to the mid level teams in the 14th. For JBS to have a shot at the 14th they must include Collins and COX in the ball game.
