The way the 14th region has went so far. Who knows who will win.

Agreed, I have never seen one player that has had as much of an impact on a team as Ryan Romans has had on Powell County.

This is a Shocker. When was the last time Red Bird made it to the region.

If Jackson City would have had a deeper bench their record would have been alot better this year. All in all a good year for Coach Hall at Jackson City.

Several good candidates, Hicks, Stepp, Romans,and Gay. Hicks should win for the second year in a row.

Owsley over Lee Buckhorn over PCC

I said all along that if PCC got past Buckhorn that I thought they would win the region. But I didnt think Buckhorn would win by this many. Good Luck to Coach Noble and Buckhorn. Hopefully the rumors about Coach Holland are not true. I would hate to see a coach with his resume any where but walking the sidelines on 14th region courts.

Fun game to watch. It was a high scoring affair with very few missed shots. Owsley County lost Kendra Combs in the 3rd quarter with a severe ankle injury (maybe broke) after a collison. Courtney Jones finished with 28 points for the lady Pirates. Senior Jessica Murrell Led Owsley with 27 point 10 rebounds. Combs had 22 points before her injury and Freshman Mika Turner had 12 points and 14 rebounds. Owsley finishes the season with a 17 and 9 record. Congrats to Jessica Murrell on a great career for the Lady Owls.

That is close. I knew Jenkins was dangerous but I though JBS would win easily.

So true, the first person that spoke to me after the ball game was a Lee County School official. He told me to send congratulations to Coach Parrett and wished Owsley good Luck in the rest of the tourney. Very Classy.

Someone stated earlier about Lee County's apathetic offense. THis just backs up the argument.

Upsets early in the region. PCC better not overlook DA HORN.

I was sitting on the bleachers next to the official when that call was made. It was an iffy call to me. Brewer did grab the arm hard but it looked like he was trying to swat the ball out of his hand. But I am not the official.

If Jackson can stay out of foul trouble they have a strong chance of making their second straight trip to the region.

Good win for the Wolves. After a sub par season they will still make it to the regional tourney.

A good win for the Bulldogs. I thought that this game could have been an upset game for the region. If PCC can defeat Buckhorn, it will make for a great final.

It was a good clean game. These two teams are enemies on the court but all of the players, coaches, and fans respect the other when the final horn blows.

Owsley County was able to keep a low scoring game and didnt committ many turnovers. Owsley led for most of the game and the Bobcats offense was stagnant. From the start of the game Owsley jumped out to a point lead before Lee ever scored. IMO Lee County overlooked the Owls and it came back to bite them.

:thumb: I have known the man a long time. He is a class act and a gentleman. Whether the call was right or wrong I dont know. What I do know is that downgrading the man will not change the call.:madman:

Two Months ago I would have chose Buckhorn. But PCC is playing the best of any team in the region and I expect them to roll.

This should be the best game of the 56th. But I am going with Powell County I have thought from the beginning that Powell would win the district and I dont see me changing my mind now.

The game that I was at was just that a game. Breathitt never was really able to pull away. They got several 15-17 point leads in the second half but Owsley was able to pull it back close each time. Owsley was only down 11 points with 1 30 left but some costly turnovers proved fateful. I have seen Breathitt play several times this year, and they are one of the top 5 teams in the region. But their lack of consistency will prove fateful.

KEN JONES, he has Powell County playing the best that they have played all year and are ready to defend their 56th district title.
