EARLE Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 75% of the 14th region tournament will be made up of schools that qualify for the Class A tournament (6 of 8)... LCC and PCC were ousted by class a schools in both '06 and '07. Estill Co. knocked off Powell Co. in the '06 district, and are playing tonight (they are coming in as the #2 and #3 seeds behind Lee Co. a class a school for the second straight year) Breathitt Co. was knocked off by Wolfe Co. in '06. Leslie Co. was knocked off by Hazard this year 2007: Owsley Co. JBS Knott Cent. Hazard Wolfe Co. Buckhorn (Breathitt Co.- 2A and Estill Co./Powell Co. winner - 2A) 2006: Hazard (winner) Jackson (runner-up) JBS Cordia Lee Co. Wolfe Co. (Leslie Co. - 2A and Estill Co. - 2A)
STRIKE3 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Just a quick question, how many schools in the 14th are "A" and how many, are not?
CADEREECE Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Powell, Estill, Breathitt, Perry, Leslie, Letcher are the only schools that are not in all "a"
STRIKE3 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Powell, Estill, Breathitt, Perry, Leslie, Letcher are the only schools that are not in all "a"Thank you.
EARLE Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 64.7% (11/17) qualified for the class a this season, but all districts now seed in boys basketball (with the exception of the 54th). Non-class A: Powell Co., Estill Co. (56th)...play each other tonight Breathitt Co. (55th) are in Leslie Co., Perry Cent. (54th)...both out, lost to class a schools Letcher Cent. (53rd)...lost to class a school Class A: Owsley Co., Lee Co. (56th) Jackson, Riverside, Wolfe Co. (55th) Buckhorn, Hazard (54th) JBS, Jenkins, Cordia, KCC (53rd) You would think with the seeding and this years draw in the 54th, that at least half the field would consist of the larger schools.
oldrambler Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Being a fan of a small school / class A team I think this is great!
Master of the Hardwood Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Good year to be the little school, I guess. They have all worked hard to get where they are at, they deserve a little respect from the bigger schools.
got game Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I've heard Leslie Co. will be "All A" next year...?
Augger Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 It is great to see the small schools represented in the regionals.
