No. And don't look for any kind of football field for quite some time, if ever. That would be in Phase 3 and only if there is some way to fund it after funding Phase 1 and 2. Classroom and facility improvements are Phase 1 and things like a theater and a health (aux.gym, classrooms, etc) center are Phase 2.

I would agree that the Bellevue team 2 years ago was a much better team than this year's team. However, give that 2005 team some credit because the 2005 Beechwood team they beat was not 10 times worse than this years Beechwood team. That Beechwood team was a very good team that had only lost to an Ohio power that year in Alter (by 3) and CovCath by 14. They beat everyone else including the eventual state champ NewCath who they defeated 24-21 the week before the Bellevue game. And that Bellevue team had only lost 1 game at that point and that was to a very good Indian Hill Ohio team. So in 2005 you had a couple of pretty good teams battling it out and it wasn't quite the "upset" that this game would be.

Okay. Then I'll be the first to say that the only team that can beat Beechwood this week is Beechwood.

How is Bellevue not allowed to do the same thing as every other Independent school district? How is the Bellevue Independent school district any different than the Fort Thomas Independent school district or the Dayton Independent school district? Did you miss the article in the Enquirer about Dayton's linebacker /(QB at the start of the year) that lives in Fort Mitchell and drives past Beechwood every day to attend Dayton? (Moved to Fort Mitchell when he was a Freshman).

Beechwood is the only team that can beat Beechwood this week is what I believe he was implying. And I agree. There are years when Beechwood can be beat in the district and this ain't one of them. Mainly because their primary rival is now in 2A and this is a pretty good senior-laden Beechwood team. Maybe things will be different next year.

Neither team played very well on offense when they met in the regular season. NCC moved the ball but did stupid things to kill drives. HC ran about 5 different plays all night and ran one of them 70% of the time. So I look for this one to be a little more exciting than the regular season match-up. I think NCC will score more than 14 in this one and I think Holy Cross will score more than 0. Question is can HC make some key stops and can NCC control the HC ground game which seems to be gearing up here at the end of the season. I see NCC winning this game but it is a winnable game for HC if they do things correctly as in no turnovers, force a few turnovers, excell in the kicking game.

Got a feeling Chris may be breaking some records in the future. Next year as a Soph and Mark as a Senior, the Breds will be well-stocked in the running back department.

The problem that Bellevue will face against Beechwood is that the run game will not be able to control the ball. That will force Bellevue into passing situations and that will result in turnovers and bad field position. Plus the Bellevue kicking game is lacking in all phases and that will get you killed against quality opposition. On defense Bellevue must be able to stop Beechwood's 3 or 4 runners (don't forget Elliot is a great runner) and that is going to very tough to do. Playing on the turf only enhances that. Tall task for the yellow and black Tigers this week. I honestly think Dayton would match-up better with Beechwood because of their speed, but Bellevue won the right to be there and try to knock the big Tiger off.

Thrilling game although both teams had periods of bad play. For Dayton that was pretty much the whole first half. No spark, could not stop the run or short passes, could not move the ball. Down 12-0 at the half. For Bellevue the bad period was the second half up until the last 3 minutes of the game. Couldn't run it very well and starting punting poorly. Dayton started opening it up and really moved the ball well taking a 13-12 lead. However Bellevue would mount one last drive following a very nice Dayton punt out of their own endzone. Yes, the pass interference call will be talked about but that only moved the ball to the Dayton 45. Poor tackling on the passes after that is what did the Greendevils in. Bellevue scored with 27 seconds to go and Dayton could do nothing in the final 27 seconds.

He may go somewhere as a punter or a punter/QB. Lineman Oldiges from HC will end up somewhere.

Before both landed in the same district this year the NCC/Newport was always a home game for Newport which helped pay for the use of the field by NCC. Now that is replaced by the Newport Bowl double-header that Newport hosts where Newport plays in the second game and NewCath in the first game.

But it takes two to make a game. If Highlands wants the flexibility to schedule "enhanced" games and that is beneficial for their program, then they probably are not that interested in some of the NKY teams. And likewise those NKY teams probably are not interested in Highlands. If I were Highlands I would be hoping the phone would ring with an invitation to play games in PBS or at Nippert or in the Herbie Classic or in the Skyline classic for the future years. I wouldn't be trying to line up Boone Co right now.

Does "closer than some may think" include those that thought it would be 60-0 and it ends up 42-0?

One thing for all of you that want to make Highlands schedule for them. Would you want Highlands locked into a game with Beechwood or Campbell County or NCC and then have them turn down games at PBS or Nippert against Elder, Moeller, Colerain, or some nationally-ranked teams? Would you expect the other NKY teams to just step aside if that was the case? Heck that's partially how the schedule came about now. You can't blame Highlands for taking advantage of the opportunites of playing teams not from NKY in college or pro stadiums. Would you really rather Highlands play Beechwood home and home or Colerain in PBS and Elder? I don't see anything wrong with Highlands schedule now. It allows them the flexibility to play a Trotwood or play in PBS. And they can still play some pretty good teams from around the state as well as a couple of quality NKY teams.
