  1. So it's upsetting you, that on a 14 player roster, everyone played. These young men, who may/may not get considerable playing time on JV, got in a All A State game and have a chance to be part of contending program. 8 of the 14, played more than 10 minutes in this game.
  2. So you're saying Coach Copley should be in the Pikeville weight room and on their school grounds, even though he's been hired by another school system? I don't think that is a logical approach.
  3. Your constant analysis of the time the Elliott County players are in the game, is perplexing. If they played 20 min. in a 32 minute game, why is this an issue. A coach develops talent in practice and he plays who he wants. I'm not certain but maybe these young men, who like all the other All A teams are excited about playing in the State. Perhaps the most important aspect of the game is not the minutes played.
  4. :ylsuper: It will warm up and being 58°, on the 15th.
  5. You can't control the desire of student-athletes to play, when give the chance. When a reserve enters the game and observes a teammate on the block, open he will pass it. When you have the ability to get every rebound and uncontested dribble penetration, they will do it. Short of saying, "don't give effort" with two so different teams, the margin will increase. When a team is 0 for the season and has such a wide point differential, than these type of games will happen. Think about this, 116 points is a little over 3.5 points per minute against a team, which has trouble stopping their opponent.
  6. I didn't see the game but I posted some of PCA's scores (see post #31). It's obvious they are over-matched at times and incapable of scoring much against solid teams. It takes two affect the outcome like this and perhaps they did/didn't let up on the throttle, I don't know. For us to say classless or lay the blame on PRP, isn't the case. When a Varsity program has a team, which can only score 21 but allows a significant amount of points scored, one could ask the question why. The answer is so the student-athletes can play, which works both ways for all teams involved.
  7. I've stated on BGP many times, when scores like these happen it's the result of two factors. One team is very good and the other, is incapable of stopping them. When starters leave the game from the very good team, you will have reserves who want to play. When starters leave from the team not capable of stopping the other, they too want to play. The result is a game, in which you have a lopsided result magnified by the differing talent. We can't label one Coach classless, because his team can score and then say nothing about the other Coach, who allows his team to get beat by 95. My point in all of this, simply that sometimes regardless of game plan, the result is going to be a wide margin.
  8. You know I see this word used often in threads, were the score is out of hand. Let me ask the following then.... You indicate it's classless to beat someone by this margin and even say 95 points. What term would best describe a program, that allows their team to get beat by 95?
  9. Portland Christian has allowed the following scores: 99 - 12/2 (Burgin) 96 - 12/22 (Whitefield Academy) 85 - 12/30 (Beth Haven) 107 - 1/2 (Wolfe County) 100 - 1/6 (DeSales) 91 - 1/21 (Shawnee) Portland Christian has score 61pts one time and then 5 times in the 40's, 7 times in the 30's and 4 times in the 20's. They are averaging 36.5pts scored. They allow 83.8pts 0-17 record and I'm not bashing or trying to diminish this program at all but they're struggling this year.
  10. Scroll clock, scroll. :ylsuper:
  11. Here is an example, of what I mean. A post from the Scott and Bracken County game.... Today, 12:22 AM #9 grandpa1951 Varsity Player Join Date: Jul 2008 Posts: 140 Scott could have scored 150 points tonight if they wanted to, but they are way too classy for that. Coach Carr played second and third string literally from the end of the first quarter on. Sometimes regardless of what is done, the outcome will be lopsided.
  12. I'm with LN, don't really know enough about it to make a proprer decision but on the surface, I see nothing wrong with allowing it.
  13. :thumb: Agree on that part but with that said. I've seen and attended games, which I'm sure you have as well, where the opponents were not only not-evenly matched but by a wide margin of ability. It gets debated often, when scoring margin like this happen. A coach could insert players and just have them dribble. What good would arise and to me, more humiliating for the opponents than playing the game. Some schools have years, where they will struggle greatly against very good teams and unfortunately, the outcome will be a wide margin. Keep in mind with scores like this, it's usually a combination of superior talent on one side and the other side, with no capability to stop it or score themselves.
  14. Did you attend the game? Your statement indicated, you feel this was intentional.
  15. Not saying it can't be done but other states regulate quarters, amount of games, practice and not allowing out of state travel. Rules vary greatly in some states and on occasion, some 8th graders will start for some programs. Participation of a JV or Varsity sport in basketball, should be predicated on ability and talent, not merely on the current grade level.
  16. Let's stay on the path of Highlands and Conner.
  17. Some schools have limited numbers to choose from. If any player, boy/girl has the ability to compete at the JV or Varsity level, than it's perfectly within the rights of a Coach to do so. Keep in mind the first couple of years to Varsity, is an adjustment to the game both physically and talent. The speed, size, ability of others are substantially different then Middle School.
  18. Student-athletes who leave a program, usually do for a reason. Perhaps instead of Coach Hart being at fault, the better question would be why did those players you mentioned, leave the basketball program and never return. I never fault a Coach, for having success in his/her program and student-athletes wanting to participate.
  19. The lack of attrition and stance by the Coach, is puzzling. Any program that has 8 girls on a team, with only 20 total students will be no match. Never seen a score like this one.
  20. I don't think anyone, would condone or teach a player to hurt another.
  21. You have a valid point but not sure, it would be more money for the KHSAA. How would you structure the format, 8 or 16 teams. If you choose either, than nearly impossible to secure the same venue for use. Then you would have to rent multiple arenas, for the events and staff accordingly. It would help the hotel/motel business and local restaurants, but not sure the overall attendance for differing Classes, would sustain the costs.
  22. Once we can confirm the score, someone please start a game thread on it.
  23. Than you need to make a list of Colleges, that your son could possibly play at and plan on attending those camps. Many DI programs will invite in other area colleges, from DII to NAIA when they host. These are often great exposure opportunities for the price of 1 camp. In Baseball for example, I've taken my son to numerous camps and at one, he was observed pitching by 23 different college and many, are now following him. Market him to the level of play, he can participate at and then attend camps with those schools.
