Your Quaterback is meant to be your leader and your playmaker. I dont think anyone will argue with me when I say that Ian Holbrook was a leader and at times carried his team on his shoulders. Last season Mahan was lucky and was leading a team of leaders. And like you said Monty, his flaws were hidden due to the success and athletism of those around him. The Tomcats are very, very thin. The offensive line is the biggest question but far from being the only one. If Mahan gets his head on strait and eliminates the stupid mistakes this team stands a chance. Drew McDavid will be the key to this game. I have seen him take control of ballgames and give his team oppurtunities to win. Like its been said already, I dont see anyone dominating this game, but whoever controls the boards will be in a situation to win in the end. Good luck to Drew McDavid, Robby Wilcox, Tyler Salyers, Jeremy Rose and Coach Buddy Biggs. Should be a great game. Hopefully Ashland gets to Rupp, it will be the only exciting game(s) I will have watched at Rupp this year, Yoter

Disappointing? You dont know whos going yet. I hate to see anyone get hurt but lets not be a sore loser. Elliot won and I dont think ANYTHING should be taken away from their victory. They were the best team yesterday. We decide who goes to Rupp tomorrow. Best of luck to both teams, Yoter

Had Ashland not fumbled the ball late in the game it wouldnt have mattered, you wouldnt have been playing them anyway. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas, Yoter

As a Tomcat Id like to start by saying we have a very good student section and no one can question our loyalty and our pride. Just as I wouldnt question either of another school. But I like other posters dont really think that this thread is even necassary. Cov. Cath has a great student section, and is by far the best in the state. They should be flattered that student sections across the state are thriving to be like them, Yoter

Should be a good ole fashioned, fun to watch Basketball game. Both of these clubs are playing some solid ball right now, however this is the first time Ashland will have left the comforting walls of Anderson in some 5 or so games. Will this play a factor? I think it will at first but once they get their feet on the ground I look for a close down to the buzzer game. Good luck to both squads, Yoter

Squats and Cleans when they are doen correctly. Form is everything. It seems like players these days are only worried about weight, but if you have good form thats what carries over to the field and the weight takes care of itself. Good formed Repetition, mot weight, Yoter

You get used to it after a while. But you would think after your teamgot thumped at Ashland that you wouldnt talk much. But maybe thats just me. I know the Tomcats are playing some good basketball. But I agree with the poll and if anyone from the 16th should be listed its the Red Devils. The cheap shots would hurt if we werent good at anything:rolleyes: Yoter

If you thought the Rose Hill Game was Rowdy you havnt seen ANYTHING yet. And everyone who went to the Boyd or East Carter game will agree with me. McDavid and company are playing some solid basketball right now, and I think the Buddy system is taking hold. Ashland plays their best game of the year, and right now Anderson Gymnasium is one of the last places Id want to play. From what I hear Ashland has 6 men at all times, Yoter

East Carter is a good club. I thought going into the fourth that this game is going to come down to the wire, but it seemed to me that McDavid took it upon himself to create some distance. Good effort by both squads. The atmosphere should be good friday, Yoter

Well said MBWC41. But I do believe that the spirit in which you do it can make it just as effective. I think I speak for everyone when I say I meant to take nothing away from the Covington Catholic student section, but only to compare the Ashland spirit to that of your own. You should take it as a compliment that other schools are thriving to be like your own. However, I think we make our signature tonight, Yoter

Monty I find myself agreeing with your more and more. Kinda Scary. But friends a great to have! The Tomcats have been playing some good basketball since their loss to Russell, and that game wasnt THAT badly played. But I agree with Monty, I think Ashland has finally put it together. Thats sad that when you take out derogative chants out of Boyd County's Student section, they dont say anything. But what does one expect, Yoter

In no way am I taking anything away from CovCath, but last night Ashland's Student section could have cheered with the best, and I think anyone at the game would agree with me. As for the Boyd Student section being asked to move... Every Basketball game I have ever been to the Ashland pep band has occupied the farthest section over just like last night. That one section would not have held the band and Boyds Student section. But whatever their motive Im not sure, I just know the band has been there as long as I can remember. The GSA chant, however inappropriate, is something Boyd Co. is going to have a hard time living down. Everyone knows had the positions been reversed, Boyd, or whoever would bring it up. I can remember the "fat" chants from Boyd Co. very well when Ashland's Brandon Pennington played... it goes both ways. But good effort to the County and good luck the rest of the season. Its a good possibility that our paths will cross again. Theres nothing like a great rivalry, Yoter

I have seen CovCaths students section, and it was at a Football game to get them to the state Championship, and I will say the Kids from Ashland IMO put on a better show, all due respect to CovCath. Congrats to the Tomcats and Coach Buddy Biggs. They looked good from all points on the floor. Like I said, Ashlands student Section was AWESOME. But I must say I was disappointed with Boyd County's fans lack of enthusiasm, especially the Students. But it was a good game all around for the Tomcats, from the floor to the stands. I dont think You folks in Mason County will have trouble winning a "few" games. Mason County, as does Russell, has a top notch program that are competitors every year. This is a game that should be a Dandy. But all of us at Ashland will miss the Maysville spot on the schedule.
