Sounds like the Gallatin-Owen game in the 31st District semifinals. Gallatin trailed 33-10 at halftime and went to a full court press to start the 3rd quarter. Coach Jones instructed his players to foul on every defensive possession because the officials can’t or won’t call them all. They got within 74-71 with 24 seconds left before losing 76-71.

I will note that a lot years the 8th still had some District finals on Saturday. But I remember a few times they didn’t and still had the draw on Sunday.

If my math is correct he is averaging 40.2 over his last 5 games. And last night’s 52 came on just 23 shots. 18-23 field goals and 13-18 free throws.

And 61 in the second half. Should have noted that Gallatin went to full court press to start the third quarter and forced numerous turnovers to get back in it. The flip side of it was foul trouble soon started to mount.

Final from New Castle. Owen’s Teagan Moore scored 52 points as the Rebels held off a furious Wildcat rally to end Gallatin’s run of 4 straight District titles. Owen led 33-10 at halftime, but Gallatin pulled within 74-71 with 24 seconds left. Ashton Gullion led the Cats with 15 points. Heckuva 4 year run by the seniors. Just came up a bit short against a great player.

A carbon copy of the first game in Warsaw. The Panthers only field goal of the first half came with 2:20 left in the second quarter as Gallatin took a 22-7 halftime lead. Carroll cut the lead to 34-32 after three quarters and took a 38-36 midway through the final quarter. The Wildcats regained the lead and led 50-48 with 5 seconds remaining. After a pair of missed free throws (Gallatin was 8 for 21), Carroll missed a game tying attempt at the buzzer. Gallatin advances to face top seeded Owen County at 6:00 tonight in New Castle.

Two straight wins in Crestwood for the Wildcats. They won 79-75 in February 2019.

Final from Crestwood. The Wildcats bounce back in impressive fashion after letting one get away in Owenton the night before. Ashton Gullion scored a career high 30, including 15 in the first quarter when the Wildcats took control. Logan Riddle added 14 points and 8 rebounds. Gallatin now stands at 12-7 after their 11th victory in 13 games.

That should read Terrell with 14. Skidmore with 9.

Draud led Beechwood with 33. Boyd had 17 and Downton 14. Dickerson with 20 for Gallatin. Johnson and Skidmore had 14 apiece and Gullion added 10. The Wildcats hit 61% from the floor and 3 point range (11-18). Gallatin out rebounded the much taller Tigers 22-16.

Started 1-5 with 4 losses by a total of 9 points, including a 5 point loss to 8th Region contender Spencer County.. The Cats had Jarin Rassman as their safety net last year, so it took a few games for the team to start figuring things out and learning new roles without the benefit of the usual practice schedule.

The victory was the 450th of Jon Jones’ career, all at Gallatin County.

Fairly certain he did. Watched a little bit online. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the players on those broadcasts.

Final from Warsaw. The third quarter told the story as Gallatin turned a 27-23 lead into a 45-28 advantage heading to the fourth quarter. Teagan Moore led a run that cut the lead to 51-44 with around 3:00 left, but Owen could only muster two points the rest of the way. Drake Skidmore led Gallatin with 22 and 6 rebounds. Moore had a game high 24 for Owen.

Skidmore is definitely the definition of a knockdown shooter. He was instrumental in the Wildcats late run at Grant County in the regional tournament last year. Dickerson may have had some jitters. First game running the offense without a lot of practice. He will be fine. The game was played at a frenetic pace with lots of turnovers. Gallatin took better care of the ball the last 6 minutes and made plays down the stretch.

I believe I saw this was Henry’s first victory over Anderson since the 1988-89 season.

The Raiders converted a 3 point play to start the 4th quarter and take a 52-41. From that point fort the Wildcats finished the game on a 29-6 run, including the final 10 points. Gallatin faces Owen County on Thursday at 5:30 in the semifinals.
