  1. I’m unemployed because my workplace shut down on February 29th. My wife hasn’t worked for almost two years because of a hip replacement gone awry. Tomorrow morning her gall bladder comes out. When we get home we have already decided to stay in for as long as it takes. Very limited trips out of the house. Mail, bank if necessary. Maybe get a couple of cases of water. We don’t have to go out, so we won’t.
  2. The Ivy League has cancelled both their conference tournaments.
  3. Exactly my thoughts on the game. Owen would have trouble scoring. The #1 team could only muster 21 through 3 quarters.
  4. The Wildcats knocked 12 points off the lead in 1:02 after trailing 61-48 with 3:21 left. For awhile I thought another miracle comeback was in the cards. 8 years ago they trailed Simon Kenton by 17 entering the fourth quarter and still were behind by 12 with 2:30 to play. A Jordan Morris three at the buzzer gave Gallatin a 56-55 victory.
  5. Looking back at the regular season matchup. Grant led 30-23 at the half and 45-38 after three quarters. The Wildcats trimmed the lead to 50-48 midway through the fourth, but Grant scored the next 8 to essentially put away the 68-56 win. Grant shot 58% from the field and 13 of 19 from the line. Gallatin was 24-67 for 36% and 3 of 8 on free throws. The Braves out rebounded the Wildcats 38-22. Fairly lopsided stats for a one score game with 4:00 to play.
  6. Wasn’t there talk of a Super Region in the 15th a few years ago?
  7. Wednesday 6:30 Simon Kenton/South Oldham 8:00 Collins/Henry County Thursday 6:30 Oldham County/Woodford Co 8:00 Gallatin County/Grant County Monday Semifinals 6:30 8:00 Tuesday Championship 7:00
  8. Senior Gage Ashcraft added 14 points including a 3 point play and three pointer in the final 30 seconds of the half to push Gallatin’s from 21-20 to 27-20. Zach Johnson also hit double figures with 10. And kudos to Hayden Dickerson and Logan Riddle for their defensive efforts. Ethan Lankford scored just 2 points while suffering from foul trouble and Trevor Hardin, who also battled foul trouble, was held to 4 points through the first three quarters.
  9. Rassman was magnificent as usual. With the score 39-33 with 6:00 remaining he scored 15 of Gallatin’s next 17 points in a span of 3:30 to push the lead to 56-41 with 2:30 left, essentially putting the game away. He also grabbed 8 rebounds.
  10. Yes. I was sitting across the aisle from one student section.
  11. A few more stats from last night. Oldendick hit 23 of 26 foul shots last night and pulled down 16 rebounds. Brown (12) and Biddle (11) also reached double figures in rebounds.
  12. Freshman Chloe Brown scored from 10 feet out with 2 seconds left to give the Wildcats the improbable victory. Gallatin trailed 37-26 after three quarters, but scored 35 in the fourth and forced overtime when 8th grader Whitley Biddle scored on a put back with 8 seconds remaining. Biddle also forced a second overtime by hitting 2 foul shots with 3.3 seconds left. Gallatin played the second overtime without star guard Ellie Oldendick who fouled out with 19 seconds left in the first overtime after scoring 31 points, including her 1500th career point. 8th grader Jada Hughes was brilliant in defeat with 42 points for the Warriors. Gallatin advances to play Owen County in Thursday’s championship game.
  13. Excellent work as usual, Colonel! Just wanted to add that 31st final is Saturday the 29th. Wouldn’t want any fans showing up to an empty gymnasium.
  14. “The House On Haunted Hill” (1963) Saw it when I was probably 7 or 8. Black and White, Vincent Price, a floating skeleton, a vat of acid, screaming females. It had it all. Also, “The Ghost And Mr. Chicken” Yes, it’s a comedy, but to a 10 year old every scene in the Simmons mansion was frightening as heck.
