  1. 13th Region. And from my perspective they let them beat the heck out of each other. Especially the first game.
  2. Just checked the Kentucky High School Basketball Encyclopedia. Walton did defeat Boone County 65-56.
  3. If memory serves me correctly, Walton beat a very talented Boone County team to advance to the semifinals.
  4. I will add that the Pioneers were one Walton-Verona free throw away from being eliminated in the 33rd District semifinals at Boone County. I was in attendance.
  5. I believe the four winners are drawn into their spots. Then the runners up from the District are put in opposite halves. For example: Collins and Oldham went to one draw for the bottom bracket and Owen and Grant drew for the top bracket.
  6. Biggest upset in the history of the 31st District since 1967 when I first started going. First three games were 82-65, 87-70, and 61-53 without Teagan Moore. The win on Friday is the very definition of an upset.
  7. Just saw the stats on Riherds. Owen out rebounded Gallatin 34 to 15. However, the Wildcats hit 9 of 20 from beyond the arc, including 3-3 in the final two minutes. The Rebels hit just of 4 of 23 three pointers.
  8. When 12-17 defeats 24-8 with a top 3-4 player in the state who has beaten them soundly 3 times, yes it is a huge upset.
  9. Watching a replay of the game. Owen takes a 57-51 lead with 2:11 and Gallatin scores the last 9.
  10. Now that I have thought about it is the reason they wait until Sunday is not all the field has been set on Saturday. Most years the 31st plays their finals on Saturday.
  11. If memory serves me correctly, even when it starts on Monday they still draw on Sunday.
  12. One other thing I noticed as well. As usual fans from other schools invariably start cheering for the underdog. If you look in the right hand corner of the video you will se Carroll County students, including some Lady Panthers, celebrating wildly after the shot went in.
  13. My wife couldn’t make it last and was texting scores. As soon as it was over I called her said Griffin hit a 50 footer to win it. After about 15 seconds on the phone she said I can barely hear you. I said it’s bedlam in here. I think I used pandemonium as well. This morning I was watching the video again and said to myself, “Bedlam In Bedford”.
  14. The Wildcats are far and away the longest shot (no pun intended) in the field. After last night’s Bedlam In Bedford I’m not sure they have a preference in the draw.
  15. I’ve been going for 55 years and this is by far the greatest I have witnessed.
  16. Griffin had tied the game at 60 with a 3 with 10 seconds left. After an Owen turnover Griffin hit the shot.
  17. Sophomore point guard Matt Griffin scored 32 points to go along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Juniors Kellen Dossett had 11 points and 8 rebounds and Eli Newman added 10 points.
  18. The young Wildcats built a 12 point halftime lead, then held off a furious Eminence rally to earn their sixth regional berth in the past seven years. Gallatin (12-17) faces Owen County in tomorrow night championship at Trimble County. The Warriors finish at 17-13.
