  1. The Rupp Arena court has the ability to be converted to high school size. After tonight's game, they will put the additional panels in for the UK/Florida game tomorrow afternoon, and then take those panels out for the high school games Saturday evening. The court is converted to 84 feet (high school size) for the Sweet Sixteen.
  2. A "healthy" 2019 Scott County is better, but Moreno is not 100% and will have a hard time elevating against athletic opponents. Might become an issue in this tournament.
  3. I have seen Scott County about five or six times this season and have not seen Covington Catholic at all. Michael Moreno is not at 100%, but he is playing through his limitations. One statement made on this thread makes me think Covington Catholic might have a difficult time in this game, even with Scott County star Moreno NOT being full strength....."Covington Catholic guards are small and don't respond well to pressure". If the Cov Cath guards can't handle the pressure it will be a long game for the Colonels. Scott County CAN turn up the heat. Can't wait to see this exciting first round match up.
  4. Congratulations to Scott County! Senior laden team in which many have been four year starters. Their experience and hard play led them to a convincing win over the Blue Devils. Henry Clay did not play well, but they were one of the top teams in the state, and McPapa....they were better than Frankfort, in my opinion. Good season, Devils!
  5. Nice post! I agree with #1. Henry Clay plays small and has some great ball handlers, so the pressure that Scott County usually applies will not affect them as much. #2. is true. Unless the Blue Devils have a poor shooting night, they should be right there in this one. #3. it is kinda sad that this Scott County team has been one of the state's top teams for three or four years now, and the Moreno kid gets hurt midway through his senior year. He is NOT back 100%, is rusty, and seems to have a lot of trouble elevating off the floor. It is understandable. I will be rooting for Henry Clay and I think the Devils can win this one. They do need a good game from star junior guard, Marquez Warrick. Billy Hicks has done a nice job in all three meetings of these teams this year in shutting "Quez" down. Smart....he the one who drives the Henry Clay team. Henry Clay needs efficient games from seniors #4 Keaston Brown and #32 Harris Hawkins and hopefully, #5 Ramon Jackson can match is outstanding performance versus Scott County in the district final victory. Jackson MUST stay out of foul trouble. Go Devils!
  6. I would love to see a picture of the inside of this helmet.
  7. You mean Dunbar? Scott County beat Henry Clay in both the regular season meetings.
  8. The Panthers are very good. Scott County at Frankfort in first round of 11th region tournament? Maybe.
  9. A big win by the Henry Clay Blue Devils. A huge advantage playing on their home court in the first round game in the 11th Region due to the scheduling conflict at Eastern Kentucky. They are a very quick, scrappy team who could do some damage in the state tournament. Happy for Head Coach Daniel Brown.
  10. Actually, Scott County left the undefeated ranks back in December down in Myrtle Beach in the Beach Ball Classic. A California team defeated the Cardinals. This would be their second loss this season, but I don't think tonight is the night the Blue Devils beat the Cardinals. Not on their home floor. I better spot for Henry Clay will be in the district tournament in about a month. That will be played on Henry Clay's home floor. The most meeting (if they meet) would be down in Richmond in the 11th Region tournament. I like the homesteading Cardinals tonight.
  11. Maybe an underpar game at the offensive end, but he played some fantastic man-to-man defense on Henry Clay scoring machine Marquez Warrick. He averages over 23 points per game and had just 10. Johnson is a very unselfish player in the Trinity team concept, but was probably not assertive enough at the offensive end. Man he is a good looking athlete.
  12. The Henry Clay Blue Devil basketball team played an outstanding game to get the upset over the Trinity Shamrocks. Surprisingly, their leading scorer, Marquez Warrick (23 points per game), was held in check by Trinity. Senior guard, Keaston Brown, and senior forward, Harris Hawkins, had big games for the Blue Devils. Henry Clay is in the same district and region as Scott County, so they would probably have to pull off another big upset to get to Rupp Arena. Big win!
  13. Henry Clay's starting quarterback is out for the season with a broken leg. The score of this game is not surprising.
  14. Frederick Douglas has the highest scoring average and the lowest number of points given up, in their second season in existence. Wow....impressive!
  15. Just confirmed. Hairline fracture.....out for season. ☹️
  16. The Henry Clay Blue Devils have reeled off 4 wins in a row, including an upset win on the road at Scott County. However, quarterback D.J. VanHorn suffered an ankle injury against Bryan Station last Friday and might be questionable for this big Frederick Douglas game. VanHorn is a key player for the Blue Devils.
  17. Marion County had not won a game before tonight. Washington County appears to be a pretender.
  18. There is a little case history here. In the Fall of 2003, Trinity and Brian Brohm started the year losing their first four and won the state championship. Does anyone remember? Aug 23, 03 Montgomery Bell Academy, TN away (L) 13 - 17 Aug 30, 03 Cincinnati St. Xavier, OH at Ryle (L) 17 - 24 Sep 5, 03 DuPont Manual home (L) 36 - 37 Sep 19, 03 Seneca away (L) 33 - 34 Sep 26, 03 St. Xavier at Papa John's Stadium (W) 17 - 6 Oct 3, 03 Eastern home (W) 41 - 10 Oct 10, 03 Shelby County away (W) 48 - 3 Oct 17, 03 Southern home (W) 56 - 0 Oct 24, 03 Fern Creek away (W) 63 - 7 Oct 31, 03 Ballard home (W) 22 - 20 Nov 7, 03 Boone County home (W) 49 - 0 Class AAAA Football State Tournament Nov 14, 03 Shelby County home (W) 46 - 7 Class AAAA Football State Tournament Nov 21, 03 Ballard home (W) 36 - 12 Class AAAA Football State Tournament Nov 28, 03 Paul Laurence Dunbar home (W) 25 - 13 Class AAAA Football State Tournament Dec 6, 03 St. Xavier at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, Louisville (W) 17 - 14 Class AAAA Football State Tournament Championship I say it is still the Shamrocks to win.
  19. The lack of support has been a trend for several years now. It’s sad. Must be some big Friday night X-box tournaments going on these days. ☹️
