  1. He attended Lafayette, but was not football or baseball eligible due to the KHSAA transfer rule. He is a big, strong, good looking football player. Running back/linebacker.
  2. Wonder if anyone has ever seen any uniforms uglier than Henry Clay's "diarrhea yellow" uniforms. I understand they will be replaced this year, but used by the JV squad.
  3. Henry Clay will flirt with the Top Ten in Kentucky this season. New coach, new attitude, good talent. Very athletic. Top Ten in my book!
  4. I am told she is 5'9"/300 lbs. and squats over 500 pounds.
  5. I wonder if Tony Franklin is still making cash off his high school clients now that he is offensive coordinator at Troy State. Knowing Tony, he still is, but it would be interesting to know how he can do both jobs well?
  6. Not true! I would say Lafayette threw more than they ran it. Also, Boone County had a very good power running attack with the Farris kid carrying virtually every play in the first series, but mixing in an effective passing game throughout the rest of the scrimmage.
  7. Henry Clay probably won in points, but it was a fairly evenly match scrimmage. Henry Clay has outstanding skilled personnel. Chase Minnifield did not play. He might be the best multi-purpose player in the state. Clark County has good size and #33 was outstanding on defense.
  8. My guess would be about 5'7", but that height could be argued until the cows come up. I am sure it is safe to say and we all can agree that he is "vertically challenged". It is also fair to say that Nick Petrino had an outstanding junior year.......rolling up the type of statistics that will be difficult to duplicate or surpass in his senior campaign.
  9. Ben Revere is a tremendous baseball player. He has a great bat, almost never strikes out, hits for average and power. He has excellent speed, range, and a mediocre outfield throwing arm. He is 5'9" on a good day and that would be his downfall as far as being drafted very high in the major league draft. That and his mediocre high school arm which projects as a poor arm in the majors. Excellent defensive back prospect in football as well.
  10. They might pull an undefeated season off, but one game on their schedule appears to be a probable "L". Boyle County at Henry Clay, August 26th.
  11. I certainly do not think he is Division I at any other school besides U of L (since his father can/would make that decision) or another Division I school his father sets him up at because of a connection. The situation comparable to this one that comes to mind his Brian Schottenheimer who was on the squad when Steve Spurrier was at Florida. He was learning the game from one of college football's masterminds and not playing much at all. I sure his father had something to do with his decision to go to Florida and sacrifice playing time for tutoring and knowledge from one of the best. Paid off in Brian's case. He is now the offensive coordinator with the New York Jets. I see a similar situation with Nick Petrino if in fact he aspires to be a coach someday.
  12. There is nothing to appeal in Rodney's case. This is a cut and dried rule. He will land somewhere and prepare for a nice college scholarship to an outstanding Division I school in either football or basketball. Might be a blessing in disguise!
  13. Any rule at U of L about siblings of university employees getting tuition paid for? This would make the most sense to me. I would think Nick Petrino would have aspirations of being a coach like his father, grandfather, uncle, etc. and what better place would there be than U of L and his father to learn the finer points of the game. I would personally think his size (height) is a huge deterrent to competing at the Division I level, but he could play, contribute in some way, and learn from his near offensive genius father at U of L.
  14. The KHSAA needs a surplus. Wait until they have to purchase over 400 championship rings for all the state championship football players in 2007. No more surplus, but six state champions in the little old state of Kentucky!
  15. Where are North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Michigan and I can go on and on. Kentucky probably is not in the Top 25although the high school football in the state is on the rise and improving.
  16. It looks better than the six class system, but a three class system would be better. 221 schools divided by three, equals about 70 per class.........much better! State championship rings would be more scarce which is a good thing in my opinion.
  17. Somerset will be a very explosive offensive team. Lots of weapons in the skilled position. If they can tighten up their defense, they could make a run in November for the 1A crown.
  18. I'll tell you what is not a successful season. A team going 2-8 in the fall of 2007 and making the playoffs in the new Kentucky six class system. It will happen and validates the fact that six football classes in Kentucky is a disgrace!
  19. Championship football is what Trinity has come to expect. Gosh, what is wrong with that?
  20. Six classes is a joke! For a championship ring to be ultra special as it should be, there should be three classes and three champions! This means that somewhere between 300 and 400 players each year will have state championship rings. Ridiculous!
  21. Six state football champions in Kentucky severely discounts the feat of winning a championship. I personally felt four champions in Kentucky was too many.
  22. If one of these teams move, the other will stay and have a cakewalk most years to the championship.
  23. This game is the result of a multi-year commitment by Henry Clay to the Pike County Bowl. They do not pick their opponent. Coincidently, Henry Clay must replace their entire offensive line plus their tight end, as well as their quarterback. For those of you who are considering this one an automatic blowout, you must have never been associated with a team who has all new starters in the seven offensive positions closest to the ball. Henry Clay will be fairly young although extremely talented in the skilled positions. Their best playing will come later in the season as they gain invaluable experience.
  24. Henry Clay beat Charles Henderson in the championship game. They also finished second in the Lineman Challenge. They have a lot of outstanding skilled athletes.
