  8. I understand everyone questioning the top 5, but how does anyone know? You are saying that Elliott should be higher than SV, but didn't SV beat Elliott in the All-A?
  9. Tighter than most think... I give SV a close win. 14-12 SV D is better than what people realize...

  13. Don't try to downplay either team with this scrimmage. From what I seen, both teams will be a handfull for any team they play this year. Valley was without key players also, with youngs playing the whole scrimmage. In all and all, it was a good. Both coaches came away satisfied with what they've got to work with this year!!
  14. Big Jonah Justice carried the Cats with 262 yrds rushing and 3 TD's... Roberts lead the way on defense.
  15. Just to correct your stats, McCoy only ran for 440 yards against SV. I did not go back an check, but I think he had like 554 alpurpose yards. Never the less, I heard this young man on a radio talk show, and he seemed to be a good young man. He pointed out that he did not know why Kinder left him in. Kinder stated that he done it for the boy's recognition. I do not agree with those who stated that this boy would not start at our two elite Pike County programs... he would start, he has more heart than most (except D. Harman, who is going to be the man in this area the next couple of years). He ran on SV because he was the only thing Matewan had for SV. They only beat Valley by 5, 48-43. McCoy scored 36 of his teams points. He runs hard! He deserves more than Kinder! I would have loved to have seen him on a Pike County team... anyone of them.
  16. From what I have seen, I think so. But I don't want to take anything from Pikeville. Danial Harman is the best back in the Mountains... Imagine what the next two years is going to be like watching that boy run!
  17. Big John Johnson from SVHS... it is a pleasure to watch this big man at work. Kenney broke for some big runs Friday, but it all was due to this man getting out front blocking! He also has turned it up on D. We will be watching him next year at the next level... I am hoping in BLUE, but he will be successful where ever he goes!
  18. People can say what they want, but Coach Saunders had mostly under classman in the fourth qtr. And his 2nd string QB only threw for one pass, it did end up as a TD. But how can you get experience for the young guys without running your offense. The last few scores were just young guys trying hard against a Phelps squad that had given up. There was a freshman playing on the defensive line the entire second half. And second string running backs mostly the second half. This was no deferent from the lopsided games that I seen other schools play last year. I didn't see everyone whining about the way Magoffin was abused by several teams last year; Nor South Floyd's couple of big losses. I am not going to mention the teams that done it, because I see no big deal with coaches coaching. As for the threats to Coach Saunders, from what I have seen of the man, I don't think that he gives one iota what the others throw at him. He seems to be one who is ready for the challenge.
  19. How is Harman looking? What is expected of him this year?
  20. During the SV game last year I seen that the Toten kid has grown. I coached him in basketball at the Y. And he was a good athlete at age 12. If he has retained anything that he had at that young age, he should be something positive for BHS. How is he turning out?
  21. Danial Harman - now at Pikeville. I watched him grow through the years at Virgie... He is an exceptional Youngman in all aspects. This kid can do it all! And you can guarantee 110% every time he go out, no matter the sport.
  22. I guess we can congradulate Greg, then! Hope he brings enough holdbacks with him that are ready to play, because from what I hear, there will be a lot of boys leaving the team. Way to go Forestdale! Buddies win out!
  23. Guys, I had an opportunity to watch several SV games this year, and Hampton did have them excited about football... but I think this man knew that he was fighting a uphill battle all season. He was made to keep an unnamed person on the coaching staff who wanted the head job (this is the leadership at SV we were talking about). This man talking bad about Hampton every chance he got trying to gain support for himself. All of the parents that I know stated that they would not let their children play for this unnamed person. So I guess going to the playoff's in your first year as a head coach is not enough. You have to know the right person. This bringing in a "Outside Coach" is just a ploy! :madman: They (SV Leadership) just want to smooth things over with their buddies I guess. I would say that whoever gets the job will have to allow this unnamed person on the staff and have full control of whatever area he covers? Which imo is a joke! This guy I am talking about is so arrogant that when he coached at lower levels he made parents sign a contract not to talk to him about their children, or they could not play. The young staff that was there was exciting! Hampton was starting to really come along and David Osborne really had the Offense starting to take shape... I say give them at least a full year to prove that they have what it takes. But what do I know I am just a parent! By the way how fair is this to a player like John Johnson to have the third coach in four years? I guess the SV leadership thinks that it is easy to adjust to different coaching styles! Just as Mr. Harman was claimed to have stated, if things don't change, in a couple years, I will be driving about 12 miles farther down the river to take my child to school. A panther is a bigger cat anyway!
