Shelby Valley/Sheldon Clark Scrimmage

Featured Replies

How did the scrimmage go? How did both teams look? Is Valley down after graduating so many players

Does anybody have any comments from this scrimmage just curious to see how Sheldon Clark looked this year? I know they lost several key players last year due to graduation.

Told by someone really close to the Sheldon Clark football program, that Shelby Valley defeated them by 1 touchdown in the scrimmage.

To me this is real surprising considering that Valley lost a lot of starters, Sheldon Clark must have lost a lot also, but thought that Ryan Kelley would at least be able to carry the load for the Cardinals.

I heard Valley might be better than everyone thinks

SC worked on their passing during the scrimmage. Kelly did not play much. He carried the ball maybe 5 or 6 times. He is still nursing a sprained ankle. The 2 TD passes SV threw had a jv kid covering. Three starters did not dress and play. Really was not much of a showing to determine what the season will be. QB looked good and running game will be there.

SV is not know for being good year in and year out. I thought SC would be better than this.

It's still early. If Sheldon Clark was working on throwing the ball and their tailback saw limited action, there's really nothing to take from this score. I still expect the Cards to be pretty good when it matters.

Yeah you are probably right you never know what these coaches are trying to do in the scrimmages.

Especially this first one. I've always thought you get a little better read from the second scrimmage. The coaches have an idea what works and what doesn't, and they've weeded out some of the players who probably don't need to be with the first team.

Absolutely, and let's hope that continues.

I am glad to see these schools starting to be consistant with their program it is all ways good to see that wiht hard work of coaches.:thumb:

Saunder's most respectable quality is how he has went forth to turn thi program in the right direction. He has done it by putting a genuine investment into the feeder schools, by reaching out to community supporters to upgrade facilities, they have actively pursued sceduling tough out of district competition (last year they played Breathitt, Belfry, and also playing up against 3A Pike Centra, 3A East Ridge,l and 4A Knox Central.

He doesn't run a gimmick system either.... he runs basically the same style offense year in year out.

Don't try to downplay either team with this scrimmage. From what I seen, both teams will be a handfull for any team they play this year. Valley was without key players also, with youngs playing the whole scrimmage. In all and all, it was a good. Both coaches came away satisfied with what they've got to work with this year!!
