Do you know of anyone who has Ran, Threw and Caught a TD in a single game?
I'm pretty sure Jacob Tamme of Boyle Co. has done so.

Corbin 54 North Laurel 52
Big win for Corbin. Nice job Hounds. NL is really struggling right now. I think that tough schedule is getting to them.

Rep Max
True.... but that type of upper body "punch" movement that an offensive linemen does when pass setting is more of a tricep bench press, which isnt what we are talking about when maxing, then the typical chest bench press. This is why tricep training is so important, and is probably the most important muscle in football, apart from the quads and hamstrings!

Rep Max
A 315 one rep max at a body weight of 185 is very strong. Also, at 185 repping out 225 19 times is extremely strong. I dont think you can equate ones rep out max to their one rep max although many ppl do this. I think both tests test different aspects of muscular strength (one rep max = explosion and rep out max = endurance) and both should be used in combination to get an accurate assessment of someone's upper body strength. After all you can train your body to perform one test extremely well, but if you cant do well on the other test then you are deceiving yourself on your upper body strength. Also....... just for the record....... benching is the most overrated weightraining exercise for football. It is important, but pales in comparison to squatting and powercleaning, as well as core training and tricep & shoulder exercises.

Rep Max
Very solid for an offensive linemen. Once again...... when you are talking HS players I think you also have to take into account what position they play and what type of body build they are. Those 2 factors will play major roles in how well they perform at either the rep out max or the one rep max.

Serious Mr. Football Thread
You dont think that Haddix had a legit shot. He finished 2nd in the voting as well... and had it not been for Bush he would have won it. I think that the bolded statement is fairly biased. But besides that...... are there any EKY kids who have a legit shot this year? I cant think of any! The last EKY players that I know who won the award was Scotty Russell from Evarts and Tim Couch from Leslie.... both way back in the early and mid 90's.

13th Region "Top Players" by Class
I think you could add Smith from SL to your junior list as well.
-
Rep Max
I rep 225 right at 15 or 16 times. The most I have ever one rep benched max is 325lbs. I think that breaking 300 lbs and 315 lbs as your one rep max is more a mental obstacle then physical one. This is why some ppl can rep 225 alot but struggle to bench 315.

Serious Mr. Football Thread
Yeah...... I was thinking of the year he graduated. My bad.

Rep Max
LOL..... I think it also depends on what position you are looking at.

Weakest region and Strongest regions
You could add the 13th region in there as well if not for South Laurel.

Top Ten Mr. Basketball candidates?
He will definantly be a candidate next season though. And depending on how SL and Ty perform in the state tourney...... he may be the favorite.

13th Region "Top Players" by Class
By class???? In basketball their are no classes! Do you mean according to football class?

Rep Max
I would totally agree. However in defense of combines...... the 185 or 225 lb bench rep out really isnt performed to display a players explosive strength. This is accomplished through other combine events..... namely the vertical jump. Upper body explosive strength or upper body explosion isnt really that important to football anyways....... at least when compared to lower body explosiveness. The bench rep out is just done to give coaches a rough idea of where a kid stands in terms of upper body strength and endurance. Also, as you already pointed out, this test is very time efficient....... and despite the fact that it doesnt measure explosiveness, it is fairly accurate in determining a rough estimate max. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, like the kid you described.

Serious Mr. Football Thread
I totally agree........ just curious if any have a serious shot this season. Who was the last mountain kid to win the award? I think that Justin Haddix of Breathitt Co. in '03 would have won it if it had been any other year. Just so happened he was competitng with Michael Bush of Male.

Do you know of anyone who has Ran, Threw and Caught a TD in a single game?
I know several years ago in '03 that Dallas Greer of Bell County HS did this a couple of times.

Corbin @ North Laurel predictions
North Laurel in a tight one. This is at home for NL so that gives them the obvious advantage.
