No, it isn't.

Elizabethtown and John Hardin are both loaded.

Elizabethtown only lost by 3 or 4 points in the championship game of the Toyota Classic at Scott County....and they led the Cardinals for most of the game. No place could be more demanding to get a win than AT Scott County. Playing them that close in their own house probably felt like a win.

 

This game will be the best matchup of the first round, imo.

E'Town and John Hardin are the class of the 5th; both are top 20-caliber teams. E-Town has lost 3 games, to Fern Creek, John Hardin, and by 3 to current #1 Scott County. JH has lost to E-Town (they're 1-1 against each other this year) and to Doss. Probably either team will give South Laurel (the big favorite in the 13th) a great game.

According to what I've read, Region 1 is between Graves County and Heath. Neither has a strong "signature win" this year, Graves did beat University Heights early in the year by a couple of points.

I think E-town could give South Laurel a game based on the fact that they have been there before and they have pretty solid guard play. I don't see John Hardin being able to play with South Laurel due to the fact they only have one "true" ball handler.

 

I think the winner of the 5th/13th game is in the finals IMHO.

Could see 9th vs. 10th in the 2nd round. Interesting! Pendleton vs. Holmes II

or Coach Schlarman against his former team, Brossart vs. Highlands.

Wed and Thurs should only yield a couple of good games, but Fri and Sat are setup for some great action. The last three games Fri, and all three games Sat should be dandies.

It's wide open. The top contenders are Graves County, Marshall County, Paducah Tilghman, Heath and Calloway County. Tilghman owns wins over all four of the others, but has some consistency issues. A lot could depend on the regional tournament draw.
