I don't know much about the 9th region except that Ohio County is in there. What is Josh Clemons's status? If he returns could they win the region?

Ohio County is in the 3rd region.

Defeatest mentality, to say a Region might as well stay home. On paper certain Regions are strong and should be heavy favorties, but that is why you play the game.

 

Saying something positive about the Region you live in, would serve more useful than constantly downgrading them.

 

If you know anything about Region #1, you would also change your position on the 3 teams, many have listed as contendors....Heath 18-2, Graves Co. 18-4 and Marshall County 17-4...all solid teams and all capable, just like teams from the 16th are but none have a good draw.

 

Didn't mean that literally!! Don't take things so serious! I always think a Region title and a trip to Rupp are worthwhile and great for the kids and fans. And no one is more confident than me. But you have to be realisitic too, and I was just stating my opinion about the draw as anyone else on here has a right to do. Naturally I'd prefer to see the 15th draw a weaker region, wouldn't you? But we all know the odds of winning against the competition the 15th will have to play, especially since the 15th is down this year.

Is there a weaker region than the 15th? Maybe the 14th, but there aren't really many out there.

I am hearing that he is not going to graduate this year because of the and all the rehab, surgerys etc...he is going to come back next year for his senior season and it appears it is highly likely he will be able to play again next season because his age allows it and the timing of what happen with the ...Again this is what is been passed around here in Western Kentucky

You're contradicting yourself in the same post. First you say, "I didn't say cheat," then you say, "It was a hose job." Which is it? Either you're accusing the refs of conspiring to help out South Laurel, or South Laurel did a good job getting E-town's best player in foul trouble. I don't see where there's any middle ground.

 

I don't think the officials set out, or conspired to cheat anyone, but I will say that a predisposition definitely exists when a team is as highly touted as SL was last year shows up. Everyone knew who Walt Allen was, it was expected that they would advance against a no name team.

 

Deny it all you want, doesn't make me change my mind. Watched too many high school games and have witnessed it on more than one occasion. It's human nature to become somewhat involved in the entire event don't you think. I say SL was the media darling, everyone knew(including the officials) who Walt Allen was, no one knew who Steffphon Pettigrew was, until the first game. When they meet, guess who gets the edge?

 

Just like when you hear the "rookie" isn't going to get that call against the "veteran" in pro sports. It happens.

 

Let's hope that Etown gets another shot at SL,(gotta win region first!!) it may be the same result, but then again, Steffphon isn't going to score 2 points in only 11 minutes. Call two fouls on Steffphon in the first three minutes this year.....they won't do it!!

I don't think its a foregone conclusion that E-Town will represent the 5th. I certainly HOPE they do (unless Bardstown can pull some kind of miracle) because I think down the stretch they have played the most consistent, and with Atcher's play this year to add to Pettigrew's presence I think they are the most dynamic team. But JH's defense is just shut-down tough, and once in a while Central Hardin just shoots the lights out. I think the 5th region tournament could be awesome.

 

Drawing the 13th in the 1st round isn't my idea of "easing in," but it might be nice to drop a giant early and be the "big dawg" in the 2nd round.

Historically, I would say you are correct, that one of these two Regions would probably have the worst won-loss record.

 

Part of what makes the Sweet 16 so great is, a team must figure out how to overcome size, speed, shooting and depth of their opponents to advance....sometimes they do and that slipper can be worn by anyone.

You are so correct. JH is a huge task, I don't know if Etown can pull it off again this year. So far it's 1-1, Etown won the KOB championship against JH, then JH beats Etown at home in Jan. Second regular season district game this Tuesday for the #1 seed in the Dist. Tournament. Should be a barn burner! Gotta love it!

 

As for Bardstown, they are doing nothing but winning, I haven't seen them play so can't really comment. I hope they win today!

That is sports, at any level, so deal with it. If E town was the better team they should have proven it on the court. Sure, those fouls hurt E town, but if they were the better team they could have fought through it. Instead, SL wins, goes on to win the championship, and prove they are the best. Let by gones be by gones and get over it.

 

And they will call 2 fouls on him in the first 2 minutes, IF he committs them, like he did last season!

As far as the 13th (probably SL) drawing the 5th, I dont think either region is particularly happy. However, I think whichever team gets past the first game has a GREAT shot of making it to the finals.
