No i won't say they were cheated, however, the fouls were ridiculous. No question about it. SL was the media darling story of the tourney last year and it seemed to me that most everything went in their favor. Just my opinion. I just hope Etown can get back to Rupp! JH is very tough!!

 

I'll have to disagree with your assessment. I was no more than 10 feet away from the floor, right by SL's first-half basket. The fouls were legit. James Haire said so after the game. You are alleging that the referees somehow cheated E-town, and that somehow they were influenced by media coverage, which is preposterous. We're not talking about local homers, we're talking about the best officials in the state.

 

Bottom line is a youthful Pettigrew was the most dangerous player in the E-town arsenal, and SL devised a succesful plan to neutralize him by forcing him to make tough decisions on defense.

Elizabethtown and John Hardin are both loaded.

Elizabethtown only lost by 3 or 4 points in the championship game of the Toyota Classic at Scott County....and they led the Cardinals for most of the game. No place could be more demanding to get a win than AT Scott County. Playing them that close in their own house probably felt like a win.

 

This game will be the best matchup of the first round, imo.

I thought I had read a recap of the game in the Lexington H-L that said Scott County had to come from behind in the last quarter to win. Maybe I'm wrong.

Coach Haire won't say anything that is negative about the officials, never has, never will. I didn't say cheat, you did. You have your opinion, I have mine. Steffphon didn't have two fouls that early all year long. It was a hose job, that's my opinion and I am sticking to it. SL devised a plan to go at Steffphon I will give you that, but that is all I will agree with.

Defeatest mentality, to say a Region might as well stay home. On paper certain Regions are strong and should be heavy favorties, but that is why you play the game.

 

Saying something positive about the Region you live in, would serve more useful than constantly downgrading them.

 

If you know anything about Region #1, you would also change your position on the 3 teams, many have listed as contendors....Heath 18-2, Graves Co. 18-4 and Marshall County 17-4...all solid teams and all capable, just like teams from the 16th are but none have a good draw.

You're contradicting yourself in the same post. First you say, "I didn't say cheat," then you say, "It was a hose job." Which is it? Either you're accusing the refs of conspiring to help out South Laurel, or South Laurel did a good job getting E-town's best player in foul trouble. I don't see where there's any middle ground.

That would be tough. I guarantee one thing, a better final with a much bigger crowd!

I don't know much about the 9th region except that Ohio County is in there. What is Josh Clemons's status? If he returns could they win the region?
