Has LMU made an offer to Miller, how about Union College or Cumberland. If the locals are not offering how will the big boys offer. 5'10 maybe 5'11 at best, is Miller better the Vance or the Mills kid that played a couple of years ago.

Congrats to Stuart. IMO he has the D1 shooting ability. His height might be a concern at 6'1, but I think he could overcome that with his athletic ability. He definantly deserves the oppurtunity.

I can tell you two things that I think has happened to basketball in the 13th region: 1.) The vast majority of the teams in the 13th have become football dominated schools, not basketball dominated. Most of the best athletes dont even play basketball anymore, they play football. 2.) Also, most the 13th schools, for one reason or the other, dont have the numbers to compete at the upper echelon anymore. Talent, at least on a team scale, IMO, is at a all time low in the 13th. This doesnt mean there arent great individual players, because there are. It just means that there arent great teams. As far as the bolded statement. I'd have to say alot of that is a "nostalgic biasis" on your part. If SL can 1.) win a state championship, and may be one of the very few teams in the history of the state to ever repeat 2.) compete against the best in this state 3.) compete against the best in the nation (i.e. North College Hill) Then I'd be willing to say that they could AT LEAST hold there own with just about any team in the 13th region in the last 20 years. To say they are just a decent HS team compared to some of the teams the 13th region has produced in the last 20 years is definantly sour grapes.

Wonder what this says about Clay's chances against SL, if they meet? Alot of ppl thought Clay might have a chance against SL if they met in the region tourney, since the region tourney is at Clay. That looks doubtful after such a tough loss at home, this late in the season.

I totally agree on the first bolded statement. On the second bolded statement....... I've heard alot of great coaches say, you are only as good as the last game you played! Bell Co. still owns the county, and has for the last 13 years or so.

This game will take place in 2007, 2nd week or 3rd week. The Principle at Middlesboro signed the contract this week and it will take place again in 2007.

In '05 Bell was not dominated by the junior class. They were dominated by the sophomore class. This year they will be predominantly juniors. I agree with your point however. Based off last season, Rock will have the better team in '06, but in '07 Bell should be back on top, and may have a chance to get back to the top this season.

Absolutely not. You are totally correct. Bell was beaten in both games. The district game Rock got outcoached in the 2nd half. The regional game, Bell got outcoached the whole game.

You are right, they were all about even with each other. I totally agree. But SL was just a little bit better then all the rest when it mattered most..... and that makes them the BEST! Why cant you just admit that? Your NFL analogy is terrible considering the talent level and margin for error between the Super Bowl champion and the worst team in the NFL (by worst I mean with the worst record) is miniscal. Sure the best team in the NFL may not win the Super Bowl, but that is because every team is talented, well coached, and can beat any other team on any given day. Very rarely is a team favored over another team by 21 or more points. Thats because blowouts dont happen often, and there are "upsets" if you will have it, all the time. However, when you are talking KY HS boys basketball, the same cannot be said. Of course its possible, but the BEST team usually prevails, and when you are talking about the state tourney, where its the best of the best, I'd say that whoever wins the title (barring an unprecedented upset at some point and time) is without a doubt the best team. But besides that (and this is totally for a different thread, but just trying to prove a point)..... I'd still say that the Steelers were the best team in the NFL. Who would you say was the absolute best team in the NFL this year. The Colts? We saw what the Steelers did to them. Vouch it was a battle, but in a tight game like that, I'd say the better team won out. If the Colts were the better TEAM, then they would have hit that fieldgoal. The Seahawks? Well you might have an argument here considering they got absolutely jobbed on some big calls, however I still doubt that any of that changes the outcome of the game. The Patriots? Denver beats them solidly then Denver gets waxed by the Seahawks! The Bengals? Sure what if Carson Palmer hadnt gotten hurt, blah blah blah. But he did. If the Bengals were the best TEAM then someone would have stepped up in his place and delivered a win. Sure its easy to remember Peyton Manning and the Colts offense, or Chad Johnson running his mouth, or the Pats 3 in 4 years, etc etc etc. But the fact remains that the Steelers WON every game when it counted and that = the best! Its like you have this "mystical" best team in your head, as if you are comparing all the teams from last seasons sweet 16 on paper and if all the teams play to their full potential and bring their A+ game in the sweet 16 then SL doesnt win it all, and whichever team you think would, is the best team. It's like you are doing the same thing with the NFL analogy. But that isnt how it works. Games arent played on paper, they are played on a court. You have to prove it on the court. That is the beautiful thing about sports. Sure, certain teams get a bad draw....... and have to play night games and morning games, and 2 games in 1 day. Injuries happen, backups have to play. Sure refs lean a certain way, and the ball doesnt bounce the way you want it to sometimes. But that is sports..... you fight through it...... and whatever TEAM comes out on top can claim, we are the BEST! Sure SL may not have been the best team on paper, but they were the best team on the court, and that is what counts.

'09 race techincally...... but I agree. Alot will depend on how Corbin fares on a statewide level and how much pub he can get.

Hopefully we will get to see Proffitt and Pettigrew square off on the floor at Rupp. That should answer some questions as to who the favorite is.

Not sure what Ty averages this season, or averaged last season. However, I say its very impressive when you combine points, rebounds, assists, and steals per game. Needless to say, I dont think impressive stats are the primary focus in selecting a Mr. Basketball, at least IMO. Nor should college or athletic potential be the primary focus. Maybe someone can help us on this. Its not posted on the KHSAA website.

:laugh: Most would say that makes SL the best team i.e. champions. I hate this whole, "the champ of the sweet 16 isnt neccessarily the best team" stuff. Ppl just cant be satisfied with giving a team their due credit. Its the same thing in college football.... that is exactly why we have the BCS, so the supposed best 2 teams can square off so we can figure out who the best team really is. We see how big a mess the BCS is though. Ppl are calling for a playoff. But when you have a playoff we come right back to the original problem.... "the champ isnt the real best team." SL was the best team last season because they have the ring and trophy to prove it.

Are you joking. They may not have been the most athletic team, but they were absolutely the BEST TEAM. Emphasis on TEAM. They have the championship to prove it.

South is still as deep as any team in the state. Sure Riley isnt as big, but he still causes mathcup problems, gives SL a fresh set of legs, can play ball very well, and is probably right at the level Trey was last season for SL.
