  1. The coach of Lassitier High Chip Lindsey ( former Hoover High School assistant ) got in contact with Carlberg thur Spire, where Spire and Lindsey had worked together in the 7 on 7 camps together. A relationship had developed and Lindsey like what he saw from Carlberg summer '07 when Apollo was at a 7 on 7 with Hoover and other teams. A great great catch for Lassitier and a big loss for Apollo. However it is a great opportunity to get in with a program that continues to grow in the very top notch South.
  2. Yes, you are so right about the name. I knew that, but I wrote this after getting off the night shift and was sort of out of it. Thanks for the correction. In fact I work with Christians dad ( different shift ), so I should have known better.
  3. Apollo sophomore starting center Greg Lindsey is in very critical condition after a wreck involving a car and moped late Thursday night in Owensboro. Lindsey along with Christopher Dean Wallace a starting cornerback were hit and thrown approx. 90 feet in the accident. Wallace suffered broken bones in his leg, while Wallace has severe head injuries. My daughter ( a friend of Gregs ) has been in and out visiting Greg and she reports he is in very bad shape. This comes on the same day that Coach Carlberg announced his moved to Georgia and both players had left conditioning thereafter. All prayers and support for these young men, as well as the entire Apollo family, are needed.
  4. Not sure, but I can only assume better opportunities are presenting themselves. I think one of the reasons Coach Gooch left had to do with moving back closer to some family. Carlberg must have got a pretty good offer from down South. Apollo does need some sable coaching to get program on right track, but my quess is that long term coaching at one school is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
  5. I understand that Coach Carlberg from Apollo is leaving to take a position at a high school in Georgia. I think he maybe going as a defensive coach, but I will be able to send more details on Sat. If this is true Apollo is losing a good good coach, which makes both Coach Gooch ( Mont. County) and now Coach Carlberg two good leaders in less than 3 years that have vacated Apollo.
  6. I have said this before and I will say it again. Some one will get a steal with Brock Moorman at the next level.
  7. I would love to see Pitt over Memphis. In fact anyone over Memphis would be great.
  8. Yeap, I agree here. I think the difference in conference play here helps WKU over Drake
  9. What do you say/see as early round upsets? Just early, but I see Nova over Clemson and Kansas State over USC
  10. Yeah, I agree here. Bilas wants to use his law degree to try and make people think like him and Knight uses his years and experience as well as common sense verbage to make them all look like morans. I am not sure he will ever make it as regular because he is not "hollywood" enough for ESPN, but I love watching him
  11. I think he could be gone with out winning any, if the proposal suits him and if he wins one an even bigger proposal may come his way. Just my opinion, but he may be one of the most underated coaches around.
  12. It seems this time of the year coaches that make the dance start getting courted by AD's that felt their program needs new blood at the coaching level. Just wondering how long W.K.U. will be able to keep Horn. Recall a few years ago when E.K.U. got to the show and Ford was gone shortly after
  13. Well if you listen to mr. dukie bilas, Kentucky has no chance...but then again what do you expect from him
  14. Well to watch him sit there and give out his thoughts/insight is a refreshing bit of TV. It seems like there are times he wants to just go off on some of the guys and say "you are reading too much into things". I think they might have him on a Crown Royal drip and he is just taking it all in and liking it.:dancingpa
  15. I must say this was one of the most physical game I have ever seen. To be fair it was call like that IMO on both teams so I can not believe anyone who says much about it being one sided. The stripes let them play, that much I do know. Congrats Apollo.
  16. Coach Gooch was liked by many from Apollo. Montgomery Co. got them a good one from Daviess Co. Good Luck Montgomery Co. and Coach Gooch
  17. I believe the finals will be Tue. at 7:00 now since they had to move it to Sunday for the semi finals. Owensboro plays the winner of North/Apollo
  18. I wondering if you are talking about the Daviess Co/Hopkinsville game about 5 years ago. State tourn. quarterfinals?
  19. Any boys game on the web tonight to listen to?
  20. Agree 100% with you on this. He has improved every year in all facets of the game. Credit very good coaching, and his inner desire to become a better player/student of the game. His potential is unlimited given the right program.
  21. Scheduling is always a concern, but I think it is very douable. People see how much the All A is enjoyed and great basketball played I may add. The right corporate sponsorship on this could make it quite a sucess IMO
  22. I am sure this is the guy. I remember he went to college, but never knew how he did. Again, long before everything was at your fingertips.
  23. All third region first team as selected by 3rd region coaches. Travis Johnston- Grayson Co. Courgars-Soph. who made the first team as a freshman last year. Started as a 8th grader for the Cougars. Brock Moorman-Owensboro Red Devils- Senior- Somebody is going to get a steal with this player at the next level. Aaron Morris- Muhlenberg North Stars- Senior- 2nd year on the first team. Deadly outside shooter who IMO can play at a solid D2 program. Love to see him at KWC. Nick Stinnett- Meade Co. Greenwave-Senior-Not sure if his future is in basketball or football as he could play both with very good results. Player of the year in the 3rd Region goes to Apollo's Tyler Brown. The senior who signed with Morehead State just makes it look too easy sometimes. If he his not on, he makes his team mates look like all 3rd region players with how he gets them involved in scoring with the way he passes. Coach of the Year. Steve Sparks, Muhlenberg North. Coaches defense as good as any coach around. Understands defense wins game. A tough, but fair to his players coach.
