The Indians are loosing 4 starters on the o-line and 2 on the d-line. They also lost Kaleb Curtis at QB. They need guys to step up this year.

Montgomery County just needs to keep doing what they have been since the current coaching staff has been in place.Excellent weight training, spring ball, and increased numbers. The feeder programs are on the same page now with the program, and the entire community is a buzz about MC football like never before. Coach Gooch & his entire staff, have more knowledge and work ethic than any before them and the program is going to continue to flourish.

I don't think your o-line numbers are correct and they had a freshman QB step in last year after Curtis was injured. Who did a great job for his age and experience.

I think they were 3-1, while he was at the helm. You are right in saying that they need guys to step up this year, but I think every program can say that from year to year and even game to game.

Coach Gooch and is staff are building this program the right way. I believe he just had knee replacement, so that shows you how much this guy works! :ylsuper:

You're right about the knee replacement. This has been an extremely hard off season for Montgomery County. They lost a player on New Years day and lost a coach two weeks later. The kids have reacted well and are excited to get back on the field.

MC has a lot of experience returning and hopefully a few surprises coming from some of the younger players. They work hard in the weight room in the offseason. I think this group is dedicated and the seniors to be are ready to lead.

The Indians have learned what it takes to win. They are coached at a high level which allows them to play at a high level. The team's football IQ improves each year along with team strength and quickness. Someone said it earlier, they just need to stay the course.

Who are some of the key players returning for the Indians?

Montgomery should be ok with several key returning starter from last years team. Ryan Hackworth has started since his freshman year and has turned out to be a really good CB. Grant Darnell OL/DE started on both sides of the ball last year and got better each week. Seth Dotson QB started the final 3 games of the year and went 3-1 including a win over Woodford County in the first round of the playoffs. Seth was just a freshman and should only get better. Nick Hendix was probably the best all-round receiver they had last year, will also be returning. Also look for Tyler Cundiff, Tyler Murphy, Zach Hood to have a really good year.

Overall Montgomery Returns 7 defensive starters and 7-8 offensive starters. Like someone said in an earlier post Montgomery's learning curve has gone up since Coach Gooch took over. He has brought a lot of excitement back to the program and things only look brighter with the younger programs getting better.

D line has Hussey returning, O-line will be young and aggessive, Valentine, Mccall and Jorgensen should be ready to step up with some other young players.

A sophomore to be, Justin Covey, looks like he could have his coming out party.

Hopefully, some new faces from the upper classmen as well.

Who is in line to replace the Hovermale kid who kicked for Montgomery Co.? He was solid all year at all the kicking positions.

I would think Ryan Spangler. He will be a sophomore and he was pushing Hovermale for kickoff duties this year. He's got a good leg

I think it is possible to get a soccer player to kick like Hovermale. If they go this route there are a few players they could try to get including Edgar Lopez who has a VERY strong leg.

Soccer players would be great. The Spangler guy has a soccer background as well.

Will Fawns, a soph to be, showed some promise kicking last year as well. Could be some real competition for the job.

Does he also play basketball for the Indians?
