  1. I understand that Coach Carlberg from Apollo is leaving to take a position at a high school in Georgia. I think he maybe going as a defensive coach, but I will be able to send more details on Sat. If this is true Apollo is losing a good good coach, which makes both Coach Gooch ( Mont. County) and now Coach Carlberg two good leaders in less than 3 years that have vacated Apollo.
  2. I have said this before and I will say it again. Some one will get a steal with Brock Moorman at the next level.
  3. Must be running late on the start.
  4. I must say this was one of the most physical game I have ever seen. To be fair it was call like that IMO on both teams so I can not believe anyone who says much about it being one sided. The stripes let them play, that much I do know. Congrats Apollo.
  5. Coach Gooch was liked by many from Apollo. Montgomery Co. got them a good one from Daviess Co. Good Luck Montgomery Co. and Coach Gooch
  6. I believe the finals will be Tue. at 7:00 now since they had to move it to Sunday for the semi finals. Owensboro plays the winner of North/Apollo
  7. I wondering if you are talking about the Daviess Co/Hopkinsville game about 5 years ago. State tourn. quarterfinals?
  8. Any boys game on the web tonight to listen to?
  9. Agree 100% with you on this. He has improved every year in all facets of the game. Credit very good coaching, and his inner desire to become a better player/student of the game. His potential is unlimited given the right program.
  10. Scheduling is always a concern, but I think it is very douable. People see how much the All A is enjoyed and great basketball played I may add. The right corporate sponsorship on this could make it quite a sucess IMO
  11. I am sure this is the guy. I remember he went to college, but never knew how he did. Again, long before everything was at your fingertips.
  12. All third region first team as selected by 3rd region coaches. Travis Johnston- Grayson Co. Courgars-Soph. who made the first team as a freshman last year. Started as a 8th grader for the Cougars. Brock Moorman-Owensboro Red Devils- Senior- Somebody is going to get a steal with this player at the next level. Aaron Morris- Muhlenberg North Stars- Senior- 2nd year on the first team. Deadly outside shooter who IMO can play at a solid D2 program. Love to see him at KWC. Nick Stinnett- Meade Co. Greenwave-Senior-Not sure if his future is in basketball or football as he could play both with very good results. Player of the year in the 3rd Region goes to Apollo's Tyler Brown. The senior who signed with Morehead State just makes it look too easy sometimes. If he his not on, he makes his team mates look like all 3rd region players with how he gets them involved in scoring with the way he passes. Coach of the Year. Steve Sparks, Muhlenberg North. Coaches defense as good as any coach around. Understands defense wins game. A tough, but fair to his players coach.
  13. If I recall there was a Stepp from Eastern Kentucky in the late 70's that was a great scorer (like 50/game) that was even in the running for Mr. Basketball. I never got to see him play, but would have like to. I don't care if a guy shoots a lot or not to average 50ppg ( this was pre 3 pt.shot), he still would hit 50% from the field unless he hit a ton of free throws game. I think most coaches would like to see a 50% field goal shooter. Any relation to that guy? I think his first name was Erwin or something like that.
  14. This so far has my vote.
  15. Well you see what limited luck you are, and or Matt, is having. I would like to think that any coach that has a few players that are doing as well or better than the ones that are listed on the KHSAA site would want to put the kid(s) name out there if nothing more than spot light to some degree the hard work put in.
  16. It is like pulling teeth sometimes. I heard, as I am sure you have, that giving out too much infor may/can draw attention to some injustices from parents. It is not like it is a big secret. Some coaches just consider it inside information that they would really rather not share.
  17. I realize that it is optional for coaches to update stats or even submit them to the KHSAA. However as a fan, would you or would you not like to see this as required? It gives some light to the fans of each sport and it gets the names out to some who may even deserve it IMO. What do you think?
  18. Agree on this...Big upset
  19. Wondering if there have been any legit upsets. Post them if you feel they qualify as such.
  20. Webster County teams are called the "trojans" so you can just use your imagination on some of those cheers...
  21. Mike Williams (51 points) from Kentucky Weselyan lit up Fly Williams and AP in a Christmas tourney in Owensboro in about '73 and Fly Williams said to a reporter after the game that Mike Williams "aint nothing but a shooter and he can't play defense"
  22. Hanley was a beast and still hold some records at Apollo including those 2 (most yds in a game by a rb and most TD's in a game/season). I think he went on to play for I.U.
  23. Any one else broadcasting girls district playoff games. WBIO 94.7 in Owensboro is doing all the 9th district girls games and can be heard on the web. I believe this is long over due around here. I have seen many girls games this year and these girls flat out get it every play.
  24. 3rd Region played at Daviess Co. 03/03-03/08 at Daviess Co. High School. :thumb:
