The city of Pikeville has grown over the past 5 years and I look for that to continue...a lot more growth in the city than any other area of the mountains. I know there are some new subdivisions in the planning phase right now...I say Pikeville will possibly move up a class in football within the next few years.

Chris Lawson's first two teams won back to back region titles(98 and 99)and was one win away from being the Panthers first teams to advance to the state final 4...of course that was before the new postseason format came into play. I hope Coach Priode can get off to a great start like Coach Lawson did and make some deep runs in the postseason...that would be a great way for him to get started. Coach Priode is a GREAT guy and I wish him nothing but the best...Good luck Coach. Pikeville has been one of the top baseball programs in Eastern Kentucky for the past decade and I really believe that Coach Priode is a coach that will keep them were they have worked so hard to get.

I know they have Chase Dumphord, who is one of the best players in Kentucky...he is a 6-5, 315 pound offensive lienman and he allready has offers from Kentucky, Auburn, and Louisville...I've also heard that Florida, Tennessee, and Michigan State are close to offering also.

Johnson Central is for real and I think they will have to much for Bryan Station which shouldn't be the case because Bryan Station should be a football powerhouse...I know they have struggled but with all the talent that walks the halls of BS on almost a yearly basis they should have one of the best public school teams in Lexington most years instead of the worst. I've heard that they are making progress at the Station but they still have a ways to go to be able to beat teams like Johnson Central. JC-41 BS-20 GO EAGLES!!

I've heard a lot of great things about this kid...

Daniel Harmon Soph. RB from Pikeville High School...I believe he rushed for around 120 yards against Henry Clay...around 170 yards against Prestonsburg...I'm not sure how many yards he had against East Jessamine but I believe it was over or around 100 yards, though not 100% sure about that game. I have not seen a lot of RBs that are sophs this year but he has to be one of the best in EKY if not the state. I think he will be the best RB at Pikeville since the late Brent Coleman before his time at PHS is over. The Panthers also have a freshman RB, Houston MacNallen, that some say has as much potential as Harmon.

I'm looking forward to the Christian County-Henry Clay matchup...thats the one I voted for.

I would have Belfry ranked 3rd in my own personal AA poll behind Mercer County and Russell. I would say that NCC and Belfry are about even THIS year...a 7-6 game indicates that I believe. Class A football is weaker in the mountains than AA football...no doubt. Pikeville has been down the past few years and Belfry has had their best years ever...Belfry is the better program right now. Hopefully Pikeville can step it up and battle Belfry for 4 quarters like I grew up watching every year and the way it was when I played in Pikeville-Belfry matchups...it used to be a great game almost every year and I can only hope that it will be like that once again someday.

Top to bottom A is weaker than AA no doubt...not even close. However most years(I don't think it is the case this year)Class A's top teams are stronger than Class AA's top teams. It is much harder IMO to advance thru the playoffs in AA(esp. the first 3 playoff games) but it is harder to win a state title in Class A more often than not if that makes sense because I honestly feel that Danville, Beechwood, and NCC are better than the top 3 teams in Class AA...again I don't think it is the case this year.

My guess is that they will play at Pikeville if the Valley field is not ready and Pikeville's field is available. The game could also be at Pike Central since both high schools are just a short drive from Valley.

Chris Lawson is out and former assistant head coach(in the mid 90s)Steve Priode is the new head coach at Pikeville High School. Here is a stat that a friend told me from last nights game...I thought Prestonsburg had more than 20 yards rushing. Pikeville 51 rushes for 350 yards Prestonsburg 22 rushes for 20 yards

I agree he is going to be a dandy. Pikeville also has a freshman RB, Houston MacNallen sp?, that is going to be a good one too. I've heard some people say that they think he has as much potential as Harmon. Those 2 along with the Honaker twins will give the Panthers a lot of weapons in the backfield the next few years.
