Good win for the Panthers...the game wasn't as close as the final score indicates.

Good job Pikeville. Is Honaker settling into the Qb spot?

I wasn't at the game but from listening on the webcast he seemed to do pretty good. He only threw 6 passes and completed 2...1 being a TD pass to his brother. Pikeville moved the ball up and down the field the whole game but just couldn't get the ball in the endzone...they failed to score 4 times when they had the ball inside the 20...3 of those drives ended inside the 10. Soph. Daniel Harmon carried the ball 20 times for 176 yards...A much needed win tonight!

Good job Panthers and good luck Prestonsburg.

I have to say i like Pikeville's offense. Prestonsburg look much improved over last week but could not contain pikevilles backs. Number 24 looked great. The quaterback looked very settled in there as well.

Good win for Pikeville. Prestonsburg seems to be improving every week, they will be in the playoffs this year. Just give them some more games and they will be ready.

Harmon has been impressive early on. That kid will put up some serious numbers before its done.

Does Prestonsburg have any threat to score on offense?

Sloppy game...congrats Pikeville

I agree he is going to be a dandy. Pikeville also has a freshman RB, Houston MacNallen sp?, that is going to be a good one too. I've heard some people say that they think he has as much potential as Harmon. Those 2 along with the Honaker twins will give the Panthers a lot of weapons in the backfield the next few years.

I was at the game and the O looked better and the D looked stout, they only allowed 20 yards rushing and put pressure on the P-burg QB all night. Good job Panthers!

Agreed...

Prestonsburg is just "not ready for primetime". The offense fumbled 5 times (losing 3), had 6 bobbled snaps (center and/or QB), and had 6 dropped passes (one of them in the end zone). Wasting 17 offensive plays against even a mediocre defense severely limits any production. Against a very good Pikeville defense it gives NO chance at all.

There IS hope, however. Prestonsburg moved the ball down the field very well (and scored) on its initial possession. In other words, the "scripted" set that was most heavily practiced was sharp. The trick will be to become proficient will the remaining playbook.

On defense, the Blackcats gave up far too many big ground gainers. Pikeville's rushing yardage came in big chunks, but on relatively few plays. The Panther offense fooled P-burg's defense a number of times on misdirection. Until the young Blackcat LB's learn to react appropriately to the ball (instead of simply crashing gaps and taking themselves out of the play), a lot of backbreaking gainers will be surrendered on counters and traps.

The positive for the defense last night was in its red zone defense. In general, when Pikeville went more with straight power football closer to the goal line, Prestonsburg defended well.

Here is a stat that a friend told me from last nights game...I thought Prestonsburg had more than 20 yards rushing.

Pikeville 51 rushes for 350 yards

Prestonsburg 22 rushes for 20 yards

Yep, I actually thought our defense did well, except for the first drive of the game.

I also enjoyed watching the offense. Tim did well, I am seeing him settle nicely at QB, and Harmon is unbelievable at times. This team WILL make some major noise in the playoffs if they remain injury free, ESPECIALLY if/when Mayo returns!!!:ylsuper:

Wow! Based on these stats, this game was dominated by Pikeville.
