Pikeville 22 Prestonsburg 6

Featured Replies

Yep, I actually thought our defense did well, except for the first drive of the game.

I also enjoyed watching the offense. Tim did well, I am seeing him settle nicely at QB, and Harmon is unbelievable at times. This team WILL make some major noise in the playoffs if they remain injury free, ESPECIALLY if/when Mayo returns!!!:ylsuper:

Long road ahead, but if the offense ever catches up with the defense, no question that Pikeville should advance deep into the playoffs.

Pikeville's rushing yardage came in big chunks, but on relatively few plays.

Really???

Pikeville 51 rushes for 354 yards.

51 is alot of rushes.

7 yd per carry avg.

If Prestonsburg running game is that nonexistent, they are going to struggle against Belfry and Sheldon Clark.

How's the boys on the o-line/d-line looking this year for the panthers?

Sloppy game...congrats Pikeville

Sloppy on one side...Pikeville rolled up 354 yds rushing...not too sloppy.

No, that's not what I meant...

There was a lot of 0-3 yd. rushes the P-burg defense gave up, BUT it was more than made up for by too many >15 yd. gainers surrendered.

In other words, a lot of Pikeville's rushing was of the "big play" variety as opposed to the 4-7 yds. on the bulk of the rushes.

They've done nothing BUT struggle, so far...

This Prestonsburg team doesn't look to have the personel for a power ground game. If the Blackcats are gonna put together an offense, it'll have to built around a controlled passing game. The pass will have to set up the run, IMO.

In my opinion, they don't have that "fire" of teams past either.

I'm going to make a bold prediction (which may help Prestonsburg get fired up).

Prestonsburg will lose to Pike Central, East Ridge or Shelby Valley this year.

I honestly believe this.

I just don't see it.

Prestonsburg has started out slow for the past couple years, and picked things up a bit with each game.

I see them getting stronger each week, but only if they can get their fire back. :thumb:

Actually, Pikeville was very sloppy. Must have been 8 illegal procedure penalties, MANY trips into the red zone that resulted in no points, did not convert another 4th and inches, which gave P'burg the ball in Pikeville territory late in the game (and kept them in it), gave P'burg the ball on the 50 after kickoffs, etc...Pikeville still has a long way to go to be a good team...what will slow that down now is having to play AC, Jenkins, Phelps and South Floyd 4 of the next 5 games...

These two factoids are part of what gives me hope with the Blackcat defense. After all, the runners didn't tackle themselves in these situations...

This is a very young Prestonsburg team, after all.

Hmmm... it's still too early to know if the difference is "fire", "talent", "lack of experience", or some combination of these. I suspect (hope?) it's mostly the third option. A team won't look aggressive when it's not sure what it's doing... ;)

Next week's gave vs. Paintsville will be a HUGE indicator of where this team is headed, IMO...

what does that have to do with numerous fumbles and penalties...

Good win for Coach Jackson and the boys over in Pikeville. Now on to the next one.
