  1. While I realize the Colonels are far better this year than recent years, so is Beechwood. This may not be the best Beechwood team ever, but its definitely close. I do believe its the best Rash team. Tigers are small, but this is the fastest all around team I can recall. Ever! They have impressed me from the first scrimmage game. Quite frankly, I'm pretty critical of them. I believe Colonels will win, but I do think this will be the closest match in some time. IMO, the only difference this year is the ability for Colonels to platoon. With two well-conditioned teams, that makes for all the difference. I would definitely like to see the Crazies at skyline crying in their Chili before the game is even over again.
  2. You definitely are Salty... To say that the rescheduling doesn't affect attendance is not being realistic. I can assure you it does. Just those I'm related accounted for 10-12 less people in both 2015 and 2016. Not just due to rescheduling, but just the possibility of rescheduling and things being up in the air. Hotels are also another factor. For those driving 3+ hours, the rescheduling either means scrambling to find a hotel room for a different night or the difference between having to stay overnight or it being a day trip. Wasn't the Women's Sweet 16 at NKU this year and Next?
  3. Article I read stated "Move to UK in 2018" is there an official press release?
  4. The Tigers do get more and more difficult to watch. They just seem flat. I saw very little emotion out of most of this team last night. While I know it's not football, you have to play with emotion. I saw none. It was the same with Conner game and they barely escaped that game. Also, while I think it's great that they win the All A championship, they sure seem to settle for that. To me, that's on the coach. Got to keep the team hungry. Congrats to the Birds. JB has really done an amazing job since taking over.
  5. You are very good at. You may want to turn it into a profession. Seriously, congrats to the Mayfield Fans. When people said that the Cards would no longer dominate their Class, I have called BS and told them they haven't been paying attention. Great players, but great coaching is the difference.
  6. So a few days have passed and I still keep thinking about something. I haven't heard a lot, but it seems that most don't share my opinion about the play call on the 3rd and 1. I think it was a flashback to OC getting too cute. I felt like your best shot was to give the Ball to Slusher and let him pickup the yard. I know they reduced his yards, but at that point, I felt like Pikeville didn't have an answer to prevent him from gaining 2 or 3. He was the best all around player in the field and Hergott took the ball out of his hands for what turns out to be a turning point in the game.
  7. Beechwood has lost most big games, including Frankfort in 13 due to one thing. A BIG BA back (mayfield, Frankfort and now Pikeville) and no answer. The other thing is not having an answer when they can control our playmaker. If someone else could have stepped up, it would have taken pressure off Slusher. People are saying Pikeville controlled slusher-- and they did. Funny thing is that he still had over 200 all purpose yards. On Stringer... I'm Sorry, but I can't think of a Big game where Stringer made a difference. We have lost All Big Games the last two years with him in there. I think he's talented, but to me he is easy scout. Come out and lay a hit on him and he either shuts down, get frustrated and commits personal fouls or both. I may be wrong, but I have been trying to think of one game where I thought he was the difference and I can't do it.
  8. Seriously you need a hobby. How do you even remember a thread started 5 years ago?
  9. You will never convince me that either team takes that "out of district" game lightly. I think the games are generally a good indicator of how those teams will fair in the post season. That said, I'm glad I was wrong. I only wish NCC proved me completely wrong and won it all.
  10. Now you can go back to your other stance that Mayfield would have won anyway.
  11. As a NKY guy, I am sorry to hear the Breds didn't pull it off. I must say that I didn't expect the score to be close. Thinking about how BW handled NCC, I thought it would be another lopsided victory. Guess that's why I am commenting here and not professionally. Congrats to Cards, but great Job Breds. You represented NKY well.
  12. Wow. I never thought NCC had a chance. Congrats. Glad I was wrong. See you in BG
  13. two weeks in a row. Rash has made good adjustments on defense. Great job Tigers.
  14. From my experience, Mayfield doesn't need anyone to "let them up". The coaches can flat out coach them UP
  15. Did you say the same thing in defense of Woody Hayes?
  16. If it weren't for this, The Guru wouldn't have much of a site.
  17. I'm not sure about Head Coach, but I remember Max Montoya (Bengals Pro Bowl Guard) saying: "if he (Mike Yeagle) was on the Bengals Coaching staff, I would have at least 3 Superbowl rings." He was speaking more about Mike's ability to motivate every player. Not sure that equates to a logical progression to NFL Head coach, but wanted to share.
  18. Happy not to find a bunch compaining about Refs. Getting so tired of the BW fans constant droning on and yelling at the officials. There are plenty of times where officials deserve some of that. Friday night was not one of them. Yes, maybe a call or two were incorrect, but it certainly wasn't one-sided. I wish they would spend just half the energy cheering on the Tigers and maybe just trying to standing for the fight song. At one point they were doing pre-emptive complaining about calls that didn't even happen because they were assuming the flags were on BW.
  19. Its all perspective. When my son got to the Ironton Stadium, he asked "how come they are the Tigers and they Orange, White and Black? The influence of growing up a Red and White Tiger from birth.
  20. What games have you watched? I did not see a weakness agains Ironton and I'm guessing Ironton's line is bigger, stronger and better than the Colonels. This is coming from someone who would have agreed with you in the pre-season, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Line play on Friday night. Wasn't perfect, but definitely stood their ground against the Ironton boys. If the line does struggle a little more, then you could be right, but then again, I also like what I saw from Feiger. Scrambled better and more confidently. I guess we shall see.
  21. I very rarely make a prediction, but after watching BW play Friday Night. I can't imagine the Cov Cath I have read about having a chance. I don't see BW looking past or thinking its going to be easy, but I expect a 2 TD win for the Tigers. 3 Reasons. 1. Brett Slusher on Offense 2. Brett Slusher on Defense 3. Beechwood line Play. (They blew me away when facing a very strong Ironton Front)
  22. I find it funny that there is not one single post about "Should this game be played" or "This has become Men vs Boys" What a difference a season makes! LOVE IT!
  23. Not knowing all of the realignment, I would just say that BW seems to be a bit down (hope I'm wrong) and other teams mentioned such Raceland and Paintsville are coming on strong. I also never look past Frankfort.
  24. The Beechwood Program started at Ft. Mitchell Park. The Parks Director does not take care of the field. Heck, is not suitable for Youth Soccer, yet alone a Varsity program. The field at BW (Baseball Outfield) is far superior to the Park, but its not close to what the kids deserve. Comparing Fort Mitchell Park to what Highlands uses is a joke. That City-owned field is one of the top soccer fields in the area.
