  1. This is type of game we can’t last in. With the kickoff return, D has been in the field a while.
  2. Sounds like he’s out for at least a few weeks. Which has me concerned. Easily the most underrated player on the field tonight. Before getting hurt last week, he was absolutely creating Havoc.
  3. And this without Avery Courtney and Brady Moore on the lineup.
  4. Fortunately, this is such a ridiculous statement, no MF fan here would believe you are a BW fan. This statement is comical
  5. Yep. We were talking about that all night. Impressive.
  6. Thanks for the updates. Wished I had gone out for sure
  7. Was not aware of that. I am friends with parents of some key players and they are all positive. I hope the others wake up and don't screw up an opportunity for their kids. I hope the others wake up and see it for what it is. In the long run, I believe the kids will respond to no BS. Its the parents that are the problem. I have been wrong before, but I don't think a particular player or parent will have greater influence over Coaching decisions than others. That was not my (nor my friends with their boys) experience in recent years.
  8. Yep, I'm good with that. I definitely wish him well and hope that is the case. Good Luck to the Colonels the rest of the way.
  9. For the past few days Coach Gray has had the boys practicing in rain and into the darkness. I'm sure some of it was the Freshman team, but must be nice to have turf and lights available. Must be like Field of Dreams for him. If only they could make that turf smell like Fresh Cut Grass and Dirt. On a related note... I haven't been too involved with BW Baseball the past few years. I did not know Coach Gray, but heard great things. I was already excited about what I was hearing from friends who have kids on the team and then got a chance to meet him and a couple of the new assistant coaches at a BW fundraiser a few weeks ago. This has definitely put the polish back on Tiger Baseball for me. For the first time in a long time I'm pretty excited about seeing Tigers on the diamond.
  10. . I expect him to play basketball, not football. Hell, the best Football Player on the basketball court last night played with far more finesse and control. You don't get to throw your size around simply because you are bigger. Well, apparently you do, but you shouldn't. You still have to control it. Especially when the defender is set. Isn't that the literal definition of a "Player Control Foul"? Same rule whether the player is 330 lbs or 130 lbs. btw... It was far more than one step and he's not just moving with his feet. He thrust whatever part of his body is closest to the defender. On Defense, he leans into and puts his arms out to obstruct the path of players moving without the ball. Saw it in two games now. They called one or two offensive fouls on him, but his worst offense was called a block on Beechwood. He lowered his shoulder and drove right into the guy. I know this because he's 18 inches taller than the player and his shoulder hit the guy in the chest. He has clearly been taught to use that size in any way he can. As I said, its my outsider and casual basketball fan observation and I truly hope I'm wrong about him at the next level. Admittedly, I have only watched them against BW. I'm hoping to make a couple regional games so I can watch with less skewed vision. There's always a small chance I'm wrong I doubt it, but you never know.
  11. Observations from a basketball outsider. I’m not impressed by the Big Man. Like most D1 recruits, he gets benefit of calls (and no calls) from officials. He had 4 definite fouls in the first half alone. I generally like when local kids go to next level, but I don’t see him succeeding at the next level. He relies purely on his size and the way he uses it, requires officials to look the other way. In the first Beechwood game, he didn’t impress me at all. Refs didn’t let him bully his way around the floor and I don’t think He had more 8 pts. He did have a couple nice moves on some Put-Backs last night. I hope I’m wrong because I like for local kids to do well. Maybe coach Mack (sp?) can correct it. Cov Cath definitely has some amazing talent and man, can they ever move the ball around and shoot. Beechwood is slowly building a program. It sucks to get that draw, but they were in control of it, so the team is to blame for that. I’m slowly starting to become a BW basketball fan. I’m amazed and proud that BW has successful programs in Football, Basketball and Baseball. We just need Basketball and Baseball to make it over that hump. Thanks to coach Goetz and staff for the dedication and development of the program. 6-7 Games this year and hopefully many more next season.
  12. I’m sure you know the answer since you are so concerned with his record being current.
  13. The School Board and Administration have done a fantastic job getting all this done. All done responsibly IMO. Dr. Stacey took the baton from previous administration, made a plan and got it done in quick order. Hopefully we can do something about the baseball stands so a majority of the seats can see the entire field. Choosing to see 3rd or 1st base sucks! The Lights are a game changer for a school that has 5 soccer teams and where Softball and Baseball share an outfield. AD's have to be relieved about the scheduling options.
  14. Yeah. How about 3rd and foot on beechwood 45 after moving the ball 3 and 4 yds at a time and choosing to run a flea flicker. Don’t get it. Got too anxious.
  15. I was totally surprised. I didn't think there would be a running clock until late 2nd half if at all. I knew BW would wear them down. The only teams that Beechwood can't outlast are the ones that don't play 9-10 guys both ways. I thought we could possibly see a big margin, but I did not see a shutout happening and certainly didn't see 60pt one. I just didn't think the Tigers would come out and punch the panthers in the mouth from the first whistle to the last. This is one of the most-talented BW teams in recent history and I still say its the fastest that I can remember. I see no one in Class A beating them unless they beat themselves with penalties or arrogance and lazy play.
  16. What "stepping on their own toes" did they do? All I saw was a Good Team that wasn't used to playing a team with 11 tremendous athletes on both sides of the ball. Beechwood's entire line backing crew is faster than all but 1 player on Ludlow's offense. They are small, but hit extremely hard. That's hard to play against. The second half was a bit different, with some penalties balls being snapped over QBs head, but it had been a long night. I haven't seen all games, but this is the most I have been impressed by Beechwood since Corbin game. They were 99.9% sharp. There were 4 and 5 guys flying to the ball the entire game. Ludlow had less than 40 yards in the first half. That's on the Beechwood D, not the Ludlow Offense.
  17. No doubt. I don't understand some adults acting the way they do. Why would Beechwood fans want nothing other than for District competition to get better. Heard some disappointing comments last night. I also heard a great deal of negativity coming from the Ludlow fans towards players and coaches.
  18. I will certainly give the coaches credit and it may very well be development, but Good Lord, that's some crazy talent on that team. Long-term is where coaching will show. Talent Pools gets deeper and shallower, how coaching adjusts is the key. Can't say I watch more than a few Colonel games during the year, but over the 30 years I have been paying attention, this is the most talented team I can remember. I simply don't see them being stopped.
  19. Yes, it's correct. Highlands is not that bad. The Colonels are just that Good!
  20. Thanks for nice the updates. Couldn't make it to game
