It's high school brother, EVERY team is beatable on any given day. I don't believe anyone ever said they were unbeatable. While Division 1 players, they are still young players learning to control the emotional part of the game. I think just the opposite about the "supporting cast". I believe that it will be a member of the supporting cast that will be the difference in a big win down the stretch.

I would agree that most were "legit", but I think Stringer let some early "iffey" calls frustrate him. This is why I say not the difference in W/L, but definitely affected the game. Of course its pretty simple, Stringer needs to get his emotional control up to the level of his Skills. Drop the Eye Black war paint and play the game. You can't wear War Paint and then let the other team taunt and heckle you into failure. If and when he does that, I think he will be unstoppable at the H.S. level.

THIS! I wrote my first response before reading this. You seemed to see even more than me. When he ejected Studer (Rightfully So) he took a clear physical stance ready for a battle he just didn't get. Can't stand any official, in any sport that makes it about him.

No Doubt. I forget his name, but he's a "All about me guy" that likes to show that he's in charge and just waits for someone to argue with him. Called Low Strike all day when Beechwood was batting. Stringer couldn't get a anything even close to the edge called a strike. Once, he seemed to taunt Stringer. Stringer showed non-verbal signs of frustration with a bad Ball Call, but not saying a word. The Ump stood up and stepped from behind the plate staring at him as if to taunt him to complain. Might not have been the difference in W/L, but it definitely had an effect.

While 12 runs is an issue and obviously hard to overcome, what many see as the number 1 offense in the region should score more than 2 runs. I didn't think we would ever see the Tigers get run-ruled this season.

Slusher pitch ed some JV last year early in the season. Was told by Conner parent that Beechwood struggled defensively all over

I think he's a tremendous Talent, but I don't think he lived up to his potential at all last year. He seems to have D1 ability/size, but I'm afraid that grades will keep him away from D1.

C'mon brother. No hostility what-so-ever. I really thought it was a good back and forth. I would just like you to provide some numbers to back up your claims. Of course, it looks like CWB is helping you out a bit. As for basketball. That's a shame. I'm excited for CCH and cheer for them, so it's not good to see you acting like that towards the Beechwood kids. Not good to gloat dude. My kids don't play basketball nor have any of my nieces or nephews. I go to a few games a year. I'm confident the new Coach will get them to a respectable level very quickly. Kids love him and he has clearly re-energized the program. The girls program on the other hand has experienced a 180 degree turnaround in the first season under the new coach. If you want to continue this discussion, then create a new thread for the subject of "why beechwood is down". You can't seem to stop mixing in the Coach part of it. Which is something I haven't even commented on here. I am simply responding to your assertions about what is wrong with the Beechwood Football program.

Certainly Max and Sam and the Way (not Matthew) kid and others. But these are ones that weren't ever coming to Beechwood. Also, I can't remember if the actually live on the Ft. Mitchell or Ft. Wright side of the street No doubt, those are huge and we would kill to have talents like that. Max was definitely one of my Favorite Spartans and a tremendous player. Don't know Sam as well, but I can only assume. Didn't say they didn't exist, but they are not any more of a factor than they were in the 90's. This is not a new thing. As I said, we lose most of the Catholic Kids in the 1st Grade. We have lost a few to Cov Cath lately. This years senior class had 3 that were at BW and two of them were a big loss as far as I'm concerned. Matty Way and Evan Braun. They weren't Ft. Mitchell In-District kids, but they were in the school 6-8th grades. We should never lose those. I think that goes back to losing games to CCH. All in all, whether Beechwood is a Mature community or not is not the point, It does not seem to translate to the enrollment numbers. At least not to the point that Sharkie is making. My guess is the average class enrollment for the 90's until now is single digit differences --if any at all. Also, the most important thing is IS this affecting Football numbers. That certainly doesn't proove-out at all. I do appreciate your perspective CWB. Again, I do want to know the enrollment numbers and leave a little room for the possibility that I am wrong... Very Little, but there is some room. '97 eh? Is Ryan Kendal on that team? Great kid then, great man now. I have to admit that even surprises me, but you are proving my point a bit. Nineties to now, there's just no difference in those parts of the equation. If if I'm wrong about the numbers, the situation is the same between 90's and now.

I can't believe I am hitting the "Like" button on your posts TP. IMO, you are hitting the nail on the head. I have never once criticized the effort, time, work ethic or any related stuff with Coach Rash and his staff. It would be very arrogant and stupid of me to do so when the evidence is otherwise. I have long believed that there is far more to coaching than simply putting in the time and careing about the kids. It's important, but most coaches put in the time and care about their players. I think what a coaching staff does with a lesser talented team is a greater benchmark of their abilities.

Where in my response did I say anything about Noel Rash or criticize him? My response had nothing to do with Noel Rash. I was responding to your assessments and opinions and asking you to provide some evidence. You give incorrect and invalid reasoning for the state of Beechwood and I'm telling you that you that I think you are wrong. I realize this thread is a comparison of coaches, I didn't and still don't want to go there, but I did want to respond to your ignorant assertions. You give no evidence. You simply restated your opinions without facts. I understand the effect enrollment has on sports. I think my 2nd grader can understand that. You keep bringing up Boone and Lloyd like anyone here needs you to point that out. That would be a DUH! thing. I'm talkinga bout evidence that this is the case with Beechwood School District. I can assure you that is not Beechwood's problem. Beechwood simply does not have the difference in enrollment numbers like the examples you site or as you suggest. What were the numbers from the 90's? Just give me a guess at what you think they were on average. It wasn't that much over 400, if at all. If you were correct, wouldn't the numbers in the program be down overall? They are not. If anything, I think the number of players has grown. You are trying to draw parallels simply based on Mature Community. Throwing in names of great Ft. Mitchell landmarks such as Saddle Club and Greyhound doesn't prove you know what the hell you are talking about. Stop making assumptions and put up some actual numbers and stop using conjecture. Every community that is essentially locked physically like Beechwood/Ft. Mitchell goes through cycles. Older people sell and move away and young families move in. It doesn't take sprawl and growth with new houses. Just because the houses are older and "mature", doesn't mean that there aren't young families living in them. For the most part, Ft. Mitchell has not significantly grown physically since 70's. While your concept may prove correct in most communities, Beechwood draws young families to Ft. Mitchell. More importantly, it keeps many of the people that grrew up here returning with their own families . Thats why you have 2nd and 3rd generation kids playing. Certainly not all, but most families are willing to trade their newer home for an older home for the opportunity to send their kids to Beechwood. Ask any real estate person. It's why a house that would be 150-175K in most communities is $225-250K in Beechwood School District. Why are people willing to do that? The answer is Sports programs and Academics, but you must feed that machine. We have done that in the Acdemics area, but we have not done that recently in the sports. You didn't even address your other incorrect point that there are significant numbers of Ft. Mitchell/Beechwood School District boys that choose Cov Cath over Beechwood. While there are certainly out-of-district kids choosing CCH of Beechwood, there just aren't that many (still can't think of more than handful) in-district that choose Cov Cath over Beechwood and those are generally locked in at the First Grade when they choose Catholic Grade school over public. As for the others... As Guru has correctly pointed out many times, the biggest effect on the Beechwood Football program and kids choosing to go to CCH, Dixie or other schools is consistently losing games to them. This is especially the case with drawing the more talented out-of-district kids. Scheduling them is big and very important, but you have to beat them too.

Thanks, my brain was thinking in terms of whole years. This whole stuff cracks me up. Stupid shell game if you ask me. Sounds like the right choice and good option for BK. Personally, didn't think he was D1, but I would love to be proven wrong and I would gladly eat crow to watch him succeed. I think WKU is a great choice for a player like him.

In the other thread someone said that Grayshirt allows the player extra time to learn the system? Given this statement above, I don't see how that is true.

Dude, drugs are bad. You should lay off... Just give me some kids that would have went to Beechwood if there wasn't a Cov Cath MS program? 98% of those kids were going to Cov Cath anyway. I can't think of more than 3 or 4 Cov Cath guys in the last 10 years that lived in Beechwood School District and played Football at Cov Cath. So kindly give me some of those. I'm sure there are others, but the older Way (OL for CCH -can't remember his name) is the only one I can think of off-hand. He was already at Cov Catch when they moved to Beechwood schol district. The issue with the CCH MS program is that its an absolute machine. They have some great coaching and they have plenty of kids. Pure and Simple, a great development program. It hasn't cut Beechwood off at the knees directly, it has simply elevated the Colonel program above that of the Tigers. This is not Rash's fault certainly. While I wasn't a fan, I have been educated about the guy that they have running the MS program. I understand that Keb (Kevin) Bright is a great coach and really has the kids excited about the BW MS program instead of it just being a holding queue until they can play Freshman. As far as the "Enrollment and demographics are two main ingredients for a successful program" What are you talking about? How has that changed from the 90's? If anything, because of the Education differences, Beechwood has more of a chance of getting some good student athletes and certainly keeping any who want both great football/sports opportunities and great education. Enrollment is UP since the 90's so I see no way this is factor. I doubt I'm wrong on these, but educate me. Contrary to opinion, I can be taught and I'm willing to listen to good evidence.

Since clearly this whole thread has gone crazy and my thoughts have been misrepresented and misstated (perhaps even by me), I wanted to summarize this thread, my thoughts and beliefs. 1. Someone else started a thread about a "Coaching Change" - NOT ME 2. Someone else called for a firing of coaches - NOT ME What got me involved in this thread was someone referring to the BW Staff as the "Most Talented in NKY" and others following that with "Top Notch". Interpretation and the accuracy of them is a matter of opinion. Arguing and debating that "Opinion" is the foundation of BGP. Perhaps in a nasty sarcastic way, I attempted to get someone to defend these statements with real evidence. No one did and I kept pushing. I would still like an answer. Preferably without trying to diminish the accomplishments of previous staffs while trying to defend Coach Rash and his staff. You can a disagree with me for sure and I could be wrong, but IMO there are things that could be changed that would greatly improve the results. I stand by my statement that to be considered a "Great Coaching staff" you have to "Win with Less." Some of that is development, some of that is motivating certain players beyond their abilities. No matter how you do it, you have to win games that on paper you shouldn't. A former boss of mine used to say "You have to achieve beyond the expectations..." I use to laugh and call it motivational speaking for salesmen or marketing jargon, but I now see where it applies to so many areas of life and definitely believe it applies to sports. I truly believe that BW "Underachieved" this year. I have thought that for many seasons. You can make excuses about injuries, not having the talent and running into a Goliath opponent, but those are just that, excuses! I also feel that the underachieving is avoidable. If I didn't, I wouldn't bother posting. You can call it "Axe Grinding" or "Sour Grapes", but it just isn't. It was my opinion long before I had a vested interest in it. To end my part in this, I want this to be clear: I NEVER stated that ANYONE should be fired. Because I responded to posts in a thread entitled "Do the Tigers Need a Change", all the defenders jumped on me and assumed that's what I was saying. My whole "Change" is about approach and actions. I DO NOT question or criticize anyone's work ethic or the amount of work they put into the program. I know the time involved and would be foolish to do so when its obvious to everyone that's there is a great deal of work put into the program by all involved. I DO NOT question Coach Rash's dedication to the program, the school or to the kids. Clearly, he and his family are all-in. Julie is a valuable asset to the school and the kids in areas far more important than football. I DO NOT question whether or not he or his staff cared about the kids. While I do question some of his actions and statements, it would be pretty arrogant of me to pretend that I know what's their heads. Despite how it may appear, I'm just not that egotistical. Coach Rash has done some very postive things for my kids outside of Football so I have gotten a glimpse of "what's in his heart". If any of these statements appear untrue in my comments in this thread, I can assure you that it is due to my poor writing ability, emotion or a failed attempt at sarcasm. I am telling you clearly that these are my true feelings. The program has been and obviously still is a "Top Program" in the state. When and how it got there as well as how it remains there is a matter of opinion, but no negative threads or coach criticism will change the fact that it is. The Tigers will be Tigers and will hit the weight room soon to begin to prepare for the next season. As I stated early on, the Tigers will get their 12th Title. Maybe next year, maybe the year after, but no matter when it is, I am certain that the entire Beechwood Community will celebrate. ...and then quickly begin to plan and work for number 13.

No you are right. Frankfort was certainly the better team last night. I just saw nothing that showed me anything else. Other than 44. It did seem like the panthers couldn't pass when they tried. I get that and I said that in my post. They didn't need to do more than run #44. He's a beast. Should be interesting to see what happens if Mayfield can stop that run as expected. We will see. I like both teams fans, but honestly I would like to see some new blood. I do hope the Panthers can pull it out, but I certainly wouldn't put the rent money on it. Good luck to both teams and hoping for an injury free game so the best can represent in the finals.

This. Honestly, it's surprising when Beechwood gets that many penalties and people assume it's the officials. I think they were bad because they look disorganized and almost uncertain of many of the calls. Almost every penalty occurred on the other side of the field so we couldn't tell. I'm embarrassed when our fans start acting like that. Never helps to ride officials non stop. Let coach do the complaining.

That would make that place perfect IMO. Visitor seating is just too spread out. Come to think of it, that's why the Tigers lost. Terrible visitor bleachers :sssh:

Yes, I know he's a teacher. He's still not responsible for building student athletes and I don't applaud him for making players put school first. Every High School coach should. If he didn't, then he would definitely be gone. Did I tell you that I have been around Beechwood for over 50 years? Please don't try to pretend you know more than me about the inside of Beechwood. I have watched more Beechwood Football than the entire coaching staff put together. I guarantee I have more perspective about all things Beechwood than any outsider. Even if you are a "Personal Friend of Noel Rash" I was wondering how long it would take you to throw that out there. You love your Erlanger boys and stick by them come hell or highwater. I have to respect that. "My Good Friend Bob Myerhoff" and "My Good Friend Noel Rash" LOL. Maybe you should give them a key to the city of Erlanger for their sucess at Beechwood

Hergott was a great player, no one could ever say otherwise. Berger is still the best athlete to ever play all three sports at Beechwood. Nobody is taking anything away from these guys and the kind of athletes they were. Being a great player or athelete doesn't automatically make you a great coach. I know that with the exception of Hergott and Brilz, the assistants don't have any real responsibility and don't seem to get listened to. For all I know, one of them could be the next Yeagle. Just because you played D1 or Pro, doesn't mean you can coach. I would argue that it probably gets in the way. No doubt these two coaches were amazing players with a lot of talent, but the persepctive is all wrong when you are coaching the line in a Class A program. I would argue, we don't want their kind of experience. The two teams (BW and HC) that have fomer NFL Linemen coaching them, have two of the most under producing lines in area. So it just doesn't equate. Why do you guys keep giving Rash and staff credit for the Student part of Beechwood kids? That's insulting to their Parents, Teachers and most importantly to them. They don't do crap to develp a student athlete. None of you Cronies have answered the question... WHAT have they done to warrant being called a "Top Notch" or in once case BEST coaching staff in NKY? Stop knocking me and other detracters and answer the question. If Rash was so good at building a program, then why didn't he go back to his Alma Mater and rebuild that failing program. The answer is that it is easier to start with someone else's hardwork.
