I hate to hear about all of KCC's problems. Hopefully, they'll be 100% by tournament time. Sounds like Buckhorn played pretty well despite not having their best player Kevin Davidson and Matthew Bowling, who is their normal starter at 2nd base. Great win for Coach Davidson and company especially coming off of a couple of close losses to Clay Co. and Whitley Co.

Can anyone give me some info. on the ending to the Buckhorn - Wolfe game from last night? I've heard that it was qutie interesting

Jan. 27, 2006 - Cody Gilbert dropped 46 in the All A semi-finals for Wolfe Co. The first 2 - 3 minutes of the 4th quarter were unbelievable as he was just pulling up from all over the court and scoring. Without a doubt, it was as impressive as anything i have ever seen.

Justin Rice also returns. I still don't see Buckhorn being a top five or even top ten team, though. Three starters and big Jeremy "Diesel" Abner will be tough to replace

Anytime Leslie gets a combined 30 plus from their guards, they are going to win! Sounds like they really stepped up and gave some help to Day and Morgan. If they continue to play like that, Leslie could very well be playing in Rupp next week.

Actually, Buckhorn never shot it well from the line, either. 18 of 29 , I think including some big misses down the stretch. In truth, had Leslie hit theirs, the margin would have been slightly bigger. However, had Buckhorn hit theirs in that last 1:00, Leslie may have lost.

Great effort from Coach Wilson and his kids. I thought NL by 30 plus.

Although, it would be great news for the opposing coaches in the region, it could possibly be the worst move Hazard could possibly make. Not many coaches could field the types of teams that he has while losing as many players to graduation as he does every year. Politics should have no place in basketball, but unfortunately they are part of it and this one could bite hazard in the backside down the road should they release Coach Spurlock.

I would think that Coach Stepp from JBS would be considered a frontrunner, also.

From everything I have heard, that is exactly what happened. The All A powers that be look over all of the numbers every year and this year, they discovered that KCC did, in fact, qualify and they contacted KCC about playing. So, they approached Knott. Once again, being from Buckhorn, we would prefer to play schools our size in the All A, but we don't make the rules. All we can do is go by them and play whomever we have to play. Do, I think it's fair? Not necessarily. Should our team be punished by boycotting such an outstanding event? Definitely not, in my opinion. Again, and i have said this before, my problem lies in the fact that the 14th region winner will have to play 3 - 4 games just to get to Richmond, while other regions are only required to play two. I would like to see some type of regulation that would balance out all of the regions to fix that problem. I may be way off base with that thought, but that's my feeling on it.

The biggest thing that I really don't like in all of this is that the 14th region will now have 11-12 schools in their All A while other regions only have 6 or so. That doesn't seem right to have one regional winner having to play 3 - 4 games to get to Richmond and another only having to play 2

When has Buckhorn been beaten by anyone that badly, this year? I know they had a couple of losses in the mid-to high 20 point range, but that is far from what you are talking about. While it isn't exactly a basketball dynasty, Buckhorn is far from the level you are talking about.

In defense of JBS, they have played a tougher schedule this year than in year's past ( including a win at PCC ). They also beat some other pretty decent teams. Their record this year is fairly legitimate, in my opinion. On the other hand, they did drop out of the Three Rivers' Conference, which makes it hard to understand why they are continuing to play Piarist, Riverside and the David school, esp. twice each. OBI, in my opinion, is pretty good competition, especially on their home floor. All things told, I feel that JBS is one of the best teams in the region and while I understand the need to get a few "gimmes" on the schedule, I can't see playing those three teams ( Riverside, David and Piarist ) that many times and beating them that badly.

Lee played a great game and took us completely away from our game. However, being within 4 in the second half and having the ball could be considered a serious threat. Of course, Lee got a good stop and gradually stretched things out over the course of the rest of the half.

Did Cahill play for Oneida? I noticed he was not in the box score. He is their main offensive weapon.

Then you have Cordia, Buckhorn, Wolfe , Breathitt, Owsley and Jenkins who are capable of beating any of these top ten teams. While this region may not be as talented as the Lexington and Louisville regions, it has to be as well balanced and as competitive as any region in the state.

In my opinion, when Breathitt started sending all their 7/8th graders to SMS, they really hurt their basketball program. Up until a few years ago, Breathitt had somewhere around 6 or 7 - 7th and 8th grade teams. When they all were sent to SMS, that only gave them one feeder program instead of the 6 or 7 they had previously. I think that has to hurt your program when you go from having that many players to choose from to having only one team of players to pull from. Imagine how many potentially good players probably give up basketball after 6th grade in Breathitt Co.

Colllins is a nice player for a freshman and will be a force, eventually, but i think that may be a bit of a reach especially with Morgan from Leslie and Rich from Lee both in this region. Not too mention the big kids from LCC

Absolutely. Does anyone have any idea how many home games PCC has lost since it's been playing in the new gym? I would have to imagine that the number is quite small.
