June Buchanan 100 Riverside Christian 29

Another "big win" for the Crusaders.

I would hope that JBS plays some tougher competition over the next few seasons while Clark Stepp is there.

JBS needs to graduate themselves from the Three Rivers Conference. They've outgrown the competition. There is no need for JBS to play Piarist, Riverside, David School, and OBI the next several seasons.

JBS entertains Hazard in their final game. That should be interesting.

You are correct that JBS does not need to play these teams. They voted last year to seed their district which means they would have played Letcher,Knott,Cordia, and Jenkins twice this year. They were voted down and picked up some of these games. The district did vote to seed next year so these games will go away.

OBI is a good team now that they have the 6'7" center on the team. He just became elgible a couple weeks ago and they are better than most people realize. It is bad for them that they did not get to play a full season with him.

This is a travesty. JBS continues playing a very soft schedule and continues to humiliate these schools. I think this score this late in the season speaks volumes about sportmanship at this school. This is nothing but padding stats and humilating your opposition. Hope to see it paid back to you some day.

Go Knott Central

This last game was cancelled according to the JBS faithful. Oh well maybe they need the points since Matewan disaapeared.

Jan 13 David School 113 - 34 Tough game

Feb 7 Riverside Christain 116 - 56 Down to the wire

Feb 20 Riverside Christain 100 - 29 Called off the dogs early

Dec 2 Piarist 97 - 63 Sweated that one out

Jan 4 Piarist 98 - 49 Payback for the Dec 2 Game

:fight:

This score screams 3 things at me.

1) June Buchanan is showing poor form in running up a score on three teams that they shouldnt even bother scheduling - let alone 2 times each.

2) This poor form is obviously in an effort to A) Add to the statbooks B) Add to the wins column. There is absolutely nothing to be learned or earned at JBS from playing teams like Riverside, David, and Piarist. I've never had a problem with scheduling a couple tune up games - but when you schedule three tune up teams two times ach with in the span or a month 2 and a half months - it really goes to show how opportunistic JBS is being in scheduling walk over teams to boost their own look.

3) This will no doubt hurt June in the long run. A team that goes from playing 6 games that they outscored their opponets by nearly 300 points to playing stiff competition such as Knott County Centrall, Cordia, and Letcher Central - will run into the preverbial wall. A team that has played those kinds of games end up without the gaul to play tough teams down the stretch - and it more than not - will end in an early district loss.

June Buchanan should have a good record and good stats regardless of playing this cupcake schedule - and the coaches and AD at JBS should look at that and think good and hard before scheduling such a murder..ing row next year.

Quotes from previous threads RE this (the second) Riverside game:

JBS is only playing Riverside once, and at their house which is one of the worse gyms any where.

I asked the principal at JBS about the games you mentioned and he said the 2nd Riverside game has been cancelled.

They will only play Riverside once. No they were not fun games.

Where do they sell those secret JBStepp decoder rings so that I can understand what it is that the JBS folks are saying.

I don't know if they deliberately spread false information or if they just make a lot of mistakes.

I'm sure that they held back a lot in this game or they would have beaten Riverside much much worse. Does Clark now have his own column in the Massey Ratings? If JBS goes down early in their district (which I think they will), I believe that a lot of the blame can be attributed to their coach and his 'cupcake' strategy. Still looks good on those books though....

Wow that is really ridiculous ... I mean I'm all for beating a team... and playing whole heartedly, but there comes a point where it is just too much and demonstrates a total lack of sportsmanship by those in control (the coaches and coaching staff). I understand you schedule who is available, but come on... this is the second meeting between these two teams, JBS knew what to expect and went for the throat.:rolleyes::rolleyes: But oh well .... I guess this score and this schedule speaks for itself.

Excellent post. :thumb:

BTW - If you pledge a donation to the school or the college, you will receive a secret docoder ring, because then, you will be a member of the click.

I dont care who you are beating teams like this just isnt nice, or doesnt help your team any.

But i guess these weaker schools have to play someone and JBS volunteers, I guess you can say they are taking one for the rest of the teams who decide not to play them because of scores liks this...

While I understand your point that someone has to play Riverside, there is a difference between playing and slaughtering. I just don't see the upside to beating a team by 71. Oh yea, I guess it raises your scoring averages, and helps your "star" players stats out.

Gee Gosh it's so good to hear from you guys. Hadn't heard from you since Montgomery Co. beat Lee Co. We beat Montgomery Co. We have lost a boy as you know, and I know you feel really bad about that. He was just 6'9" so I guess we can just fill in for him without playing any more games. So sorry we upset you ,as we know how sensitive you all are. We will try to do better next year, if the team is still around. Hang in there now. If you keep digging you will end up in China. THE END

Wish I could understand what she's trying to say.... I bought a case of cracker-jax but no secret JBS decoder inside so I guess I'll call their book-store tomorrow and see if they have any in stock. Maybe a pair of rose-colored glasses would help.

Maybe you should see a doctor, You may have been dropped on your head as a small child and it has caused a mental thing. The book store is run by a very nice lady. Please act like a nice lady when you call.

I can not believe even you would try to defend this lousy show of sportsmanship by your beloved school. There is no room in high school basketball for this kind of sportsmanship. You know where my problem lies with JBS, and it is not the kids. The easy thing is these coaches continue to prove me right about them. What happened to your story of cancelling this last Riverside game. Does something elude you, like the truth.
