Middle school zone defense
Nothing wrong with mixing it in a little bit during middle school, but you need to understand man-to-man defense before playing zone. The issue at the middle school level is that you have many coaches that have no clue what they are doing, so playing zone is easy for them, even though the zone is played incorrectly 95% of the time. Now playing zone at the elementary school level is just stupid. A couple years ago, my son's (4th grade) AAU team played a team down in Lexington that packed in a tight 2-3 zone because kids that age can't consistently hit deep jumpers. The other team was a year older, so they were just way more athletic than our team. Towards the end of the game, they had built a comfortable lead and went man. We scored every time down the floor as they had no clue how to play a man defense. They were completely lost, and it was sad as a team that good offensively and athletically couldn't play a lick of man defense.

Lloyd 43 Dixie Heights 41 (OT)
Lloyd led most of the game. They had a 6 point lead with a minute left. Dixie cut it to 2 with under 4 seconds to play. Lloyd throws the inbounds pass out of bounds. Parks Vonderhar hits a buzzer beater to tie it to end regulation. Dixie wins the tip, in OT and immediately goes inside to Hunter Seng who misses the contested shot. Lloyd proceeds to hold the ball for over 3:30 to take the last (and their only) shot. Blaackar drives to the bucket and gets fouled. He hits both to go up. Parks Vonderhar get another good look to tie but it doesn’t fall this time around.

Newport 56 Dixie Heights 55
Couple interesting calls/no calls late hurt the Colonels, but not as bad as the missed bunnies throughout the game. Dixie had the ball with under a minute left with the lead. Newport is looking to foul. They tackle Hunter Seng away from the ball for what should have been an intentional foul, but they're just assessed a common foul. With the game tied, Dixie's coach Code is calling for a timeout as soon as Dixie crosses half court. Collins gets trapped in the corner, Code still yelling for a timeout next to the official, Collins goes to pivot and rolls his ankle and travels. Newport is given the ball for the final possession. Lowe was the difference maker for Newport tonight.

Covington Holy Cross 54 Dixie Heights 51
That may have been one of the worst/inconsistent, officiated games I've seen all year (both ways). They went from calling absolutely nothing in the first few minutes to calling a lot, but the lot wasn't consistent at all. Hunter Seng's 5th foul looked like a clear charge, but was called a block, which was somewhat consistent as they didn't call a single charge all night either way. The blocking fouls, you could steamroll a guy with no call, but barely make contact and it was a foul. The head bobs by the offensive players seemed to always draw a foul call on the defender in the 2nd half. Amir Henderson is one to keep an eye on these next couple years. The kid is so quick and can finish around the basket. I don't know what kind of shot he has as he just attacked the basket when he was in.

Yep, but he was still moving away from the basket and shot it off his right foot falling away. The game video is on Dixie's Hudl page right now. You can go to the 1:21:50 mark. The clock looks like it started on time. There's a delay between 0.0 and the horn.

I don’t believe Dixie has the red light. The ball was in the air when the horn sounded.

Dixie QB Mason Fields commits to Louisville
For this current year, I thought they increased the roster limit to 105 and the scholarships to 105? The school has the option to give 105 scholarships though.

Los Angeles Dodgers 2025 World Series Champions
$2.11 billion in guaranteed salary on the books is absurd. They just have an unfair advantage that the MLB setup. The upcoming CBA meetings are going to be interesting.

2026 Cincinnati Bearcats
Satterfield needs to change the culture. The bowl game was an embarrassment. The way they handled themselves in that game was an absolute joke.

Highlands 67 Dixie Heights 63
From what I heard, Dixie was up 12 at one point, and then Highlands turned up the full court defense. Dixie struggled with that, and it was downhill from there. Highlands face guarded Rubemeyer trying to get the rest of the Colonels to beat them. Parks Vonderhaar was in foul trouble and eventually fouled out. If he, Rubemeyer, or Seng get into foul trouble, Dixie takes a hit as that is really the only length they have.

Oregon 23 Texas Tech 0 (CFP Quarterfinals)
And add into the fact that they let the NFL dictate when they can and can't play. A Thursday night semifinal and Monday night final is dumb.

What is the best way to eat potatoes?
We do something similar. Dice them up with some butter and Lawry's seasoned salt, wrap in foil, and throw on the grill or near the fire.

Who are the WAY early 2026 favorites?
Big shoes to fill right there, but they do have a lot of talent coming back at other positions.

College Football General Discussion (Week 16)
As an ND fan, it’s disappointing but I expected it. My beef is with the committee rankings leading up to today. They had ND ahead of Miami up until today. The chairman said they thought ND was better than both BYU and Miami, and they thought BYU was better than Miami. However, after BYU’s loss yesterday, their thoughts changed and they used the head-to-head to determine who was better. If head-to-head was the deciding factor, Miami should’ve been ahead of ND in the poll the last couple weeks.

There isn't a Mason Fields 2.0 walking around Dixie right now.

Collins 52 Dixie Heights 49
IMO, the only winnable game that they lost, outside of the Collins game was the SK game. They had a young offensive line with 2 sophomores and 2 juniors. They had no true running back other than Gilliland who was injured to start the season. Defensively, they were undersized up front. QB play will be the big question mark for next year. They have a good core of kids in each class with some current freshman to likely get some significant varsity time next year. They also return TJ Grey who missed this year with an acl injury.

They’ve got an option in each class. Each bring something different to the table.

Collins 52 Dixie Heights 49
What a game. Dixie getting down 21 to start was just too much to overcome. Mason Fields did everything he could to keep them in the game. Talk about saving your best game for last.

Can anyone watching online tell if the return man touched the ball on that punt?

ABC/ESPN/SEC off YouTube TV
Be aware with the ESPN app, there are different tiers. The lowest tier won't get you the televised games on ESPN and ESPN2 as I found this out this past weekend. We have the app to watch my daughter's games, and I just found out about the different tiered levels this past weekend because we couldn't get certain games on the lowest subscription (Notre Dame game that was on ESPN). I'm curious if my recorded shows, movies, and events from the Disney affiliated channels will be reloaded if they ever come to an agreement. Once the channels were dropped, they were dropped from my library.
