Could the be a preview of the 34th District final?

Lloyd led most of the game. They had a 6 point lead with a minute left. Dixie cut it to 2 with under 4 seconds to play. Lloyd throws the inbounds pass out of bounds. Parks Vonderhar hits a buzzer beater to tie it to end regulation. Dixie wins the tip, in OT and immediately goes inside to Hunter Seng who misses the contested shot. Lloyd proceeds to hold the ball for over 3:30 to take the last (and their only) shot. Blaackar drives to the bucket and gets fouled. He hits both to go up. Parks Vonderhar get another good look to tie but it doesn’t fall this time around.

This is exactly why I am glad the shot clock is coming to high school sports. While I understand the strategy and it worked for Lloyd as they came out with the win, people paid money to go watch a basketball game. Watching kids dribble around mid court for almost 4 minutes is not basketball. I also acknowledge that "stall ball" is not something that occurs very frequently, however, the shot clock will make the game more entertaining because it eliminates the "stall ball" strategy. 

Coach Walker did what he needed to do to win the game and come away with the #1 seed in the district. While many don't like it, his mission is to win the game and if holding the ball was the best way to win the game so be it. I'm not sure he lost much sleep worrying about what the fans were thinking ?

On the flip side, the shot clock will remedy this issue but it's not here yet so coaches will have to adjust and find ways to trap, force turnovers or rushed shots when this occurs, which doesn't happen too often.

Was the ball being held during the game also? Lloyd only scored 41 in regulation, which is very low for them.

It was a typical Dixie Lloyd game. Both teams move the ball and wait for that layup or open 3. Lloyd may have only had 1 3-pointer the entire game.

Dixie hit 2 3's. Lloyd hit 2 3's.

Dixie is scared to play man to man defense and it has probably cost them W's in multiple close games this year and over the last few years, in my opinion. 

They play a soft, soft zone and don't take play makers away from getting easy touches. You let good players get a clean look at the end of games and it will cost you. 

This Dixie- Lloyd game has been very boring for years now as Dixie just makes it as about of a boring game as it can be. I guess the zone helps Dixie keep it close though, rather than getting ran out of the gym by trying to play man to man defense??
