Dixie hit 2 3's. Lloyd hit 2 3's.

Dixie is scared to play man to man defense and it has probably cost them W's in multiple close games this year and over the last few years, in my opinion.

They play a soft, soft zone and don't take play makers away from getting easy touches. You let good players get a clean look at the end of games and it will cost you.

This Dixie- Lloyd game has been very boring for years now as Dixie just makes it as about of a boring game as it can be. I guess the zone helps Dixie keep it close though, rather than getting ran out of the gym by trying to play man to man defense??

That zone runs pretty deep in the Code family, all the way back to father, Bill.  The zone worked very well for Syracuse for many years.  Blaackar was able to get 24, actually below his average,  but no one else touched double digits.  You have to score more than 41 points to win most games.

Coach Walker did what he needed to do to win the game and come away with the #1 seed in the district. While many don't like it, his mission is to win the game and if holding the ball was the best way

  • 43-41 Lloyd in OT. Lloyd held the ball for the entire OT.

  • Lloyd led most of the game. They had a 6 point lead with a minute left. Dixie cut it to 2 with under 4 seconds to play. Lloyd throws the inbounds pass out of bounds. Parks Vonderhar hits a buzzer beat

Yes. Very correct. But you have to know when to pick it up and when to drop it. To " let " a team pass the ball around and get it to their best play maker when they want to is....irresponsible. If you ask me.

Think about this, aren't most good teams going to have the ball in the hands of their best play maker facing any type of defense?

Yes. But would you? Or would you not? Deny him the ball?

Of course you're going to try to deny, but we all know you're not always successful.  If you were, you wouldn't lose many games.

Sit back in a soft zone and your going to.

Let's just say this, the best team in the state PTP 24/7.

Who is PTP?

The Dixie - SH district game could be interesting. Not sure what is going on at Dixie given they are on a 5 game losing streak including a head scratcher to Cooper. The first match-up vs SH was anyone's game through 3 qtrs before SH let it get away from them in the 4th giving the Colonels a convincing win. A trip to the regionals is at stake so that ball could bounce either way ?‍♂️or maybe be held either way ?

Has St. Henry " gotten " better since then? What's Dixie's confidence looking like after a few rough go rounds?

It's not a who, it's an abbreviated adjective, for a who.

Great questions for both teams! I know SH struggles with consistency during games but when they play the way their coach wants them to they have gotten better since that earlier loss to Dixie. Game could be a "toss up" IMO.

I agree. Something tells me Dixie is not scared to put the pressure on 'Th Cru. Sully has been getting his team ready to make diamonds for less than a year now. Is that enough time for them to push one more out when it really matters? Personally, I hope so.

Couldn’t agree more. With what he had to endure over the last year, this would be nothing but fitting to make it to the Regional tournament.
