  1. Adding the top PG in the region would have an impact on any team.
  2. Johnson Central should be one of the top 3 teams in the 15th. Not sure how they are doing right now but they will be adding a transfer who is the best PG in the 15th imo.
  3. I was on the team with Tiller, we won the school's 1st regional game that season but lost to Betsy Layne in the semis.
  4. SC's 1st title . Woohoo! Are boys hung in there and battled to the end. This group really deserved to win, the road they had to take was a rough one. Grimm was pitching well but Pugh has been good as well, just a bad hunch from Howard I guess. BMay you my boy, huge 2b in the 7th to tie it up. Attaboys to Coach Mike Hall and his staff.
  5. I love his game, I can't believe he doesn't have major colleges beating down his door.
  6. Well played game by both teams it's a shame this had to be in the 1st round.
  7. Shaun Johnson started, Kenneth Todd relieved him and Braxton Lafferty pitched the last 3 or 4.
  8. SC played very poorly. Todd pitched for SC and Braxton "Goose" Lafferty came in for the save. Score was 4-2 in the 6th MC missed a couple fly balls which broke the score open.
  9. Congrats to Justin. Imo he is the best pitcher in the region this year. Super athlete who works hard at his game, I'm glad to see the hard work is paying off.
  10. SC has a suspect coach? Some people may not like his antics but Mike Hall is a very good coach.
  11. I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words about my nephew. It means alot to him and his family.
  12. My bust I wasn't sure I just knew that he scored a ton in his junior (47ppg) and Senior (53ppg) years. I still say that the Stepp family is the highest scoring in state history though.
  13. Ervin went to Phelps his sophmore through senior seasons and Sheldon clark his freshman year. His brother Jimmy went to Sheldon Clark where he led the state in scoring his senior year. Erv told me Jimmy had around 2500 pts and Ervin is 2nd in state history so I'd say they have to be the highest. Also their older brother Joe was a scoring machine at Warfield, those 3 combined probably have around 8,000 pts. Their younger brother Gary who is the coach at June Buchanan went to school somewhere in Madison County and I believe he avg around 20pts a game his sr. year. The Stepp brothers would have to be the highest scoring brothers in state history.
  14. I've said all yeay that Magoffin is gonna upset someone in the district and it hasn't happened yet which isn't good for SC. SC still has to adjust to the loss of Juan Torrez who was a big loss but if they play hard and D up they should win.
  15. It isn't absurd at all, they are both athletic enough to jump right in Dunaway's spot at HC and put up similiar numbers. I havn't seen anyone Brandon played against this year that could actually stop him from getting his shot including Bryan Station who is one of the most athletic teams in the state. He doesn't lift weights, he's never done any drills to try and improve his quickness and leaping yet he is still pretty athletic. Put him in a college program where he actually has to hit the gym everyday and he'd be a very impressive physically. Lowe looks as if he lifts but I'm not sure. PCC has played down state a couple times and I can't recall one time this year anyone saying they shut him down. Again I'm not saying they are as good but there is not nearly as big of a gap as most think.
  16. The fact that he got the nod against the #1 team in the nation says a ton about the type of player he is.
  17. The 11th is absolutely loaded this year. Would there ever be any thought to expanding the sweet 16 to more teams? I don't think that it'll ever happen and not complaining but it is a shame that every year there are teams in really tough regions that don't get the chance to go to state over one bad game or draw.
  18. Someone please tell me why these 2 kids don't get any recognition statewide. They are both 6'3 swingmen who can post or shoot from deep. Lowe is a little quicker and May is stronger and has a better post game. I stated in another thread that I think they are both very comparable to Aaron Dunaway/Henry Clay who is in everyones top 5 players statewide. Dunaway may have a slight edge on these 2 but the margin is very small. They are all very similiar in size and will play on the wing in college. They all can do everything on the court shoot ,handle, pass, rebound etc... Lowe avgs close to 30pts a game and is at the top of the state in 3pt shooting. May avgs 20pts and 10rbs and hits between 2 to 3 trifectas a game and is a very strong and physical player. I know alot of the kids from the mtns have inflated stats because of the competition they play w/ and against but these 2 would start and avg 20pts a game for anyone. In one poll they are ranked in the 70's of the top seniors in the state and in another including underclassmen May is ranked 87th and Lowe isn't even ranked in the top 100, Are you kidding me? I just think that these guys should get some credit where it is due. They are 2 outstanding players and they should be recognized across the state for it and not punished because they play in a weak region and don't get to be seen across the state very often.
  19. Is Dunaway a legit D1 prospect? If so who is he getting offers from? I ask this because there are 2 players in the 15th who I think are pretty comparable to him and get no pub statewide. I've only saw Dunaway play a couple of times and was very impressed. I know people are gonna call me crazy but imo Brad Lowe from Pike Central and Brandon May from Sheldon Clark are both very similiar players. Lowe avgs close to 30 pts a game, he's at the top of the state in 3's, he's 6'3 and is pretty athletic, May avgs 20pts and 10rbs and 2.6 3's a game, he is 6'3 and pretty athletic as well. I know alot of the stats for kids in the mtns are inflated because of the competition they play against and with but these 2 kids could get 20 a game for anybody in the state trust me. I know Dunaway is in everybody's top 5 players and prospects while May is ranked 87th and Lowe isnt even listed in the top 100 on another prep site for KY, How is that? I'm from the mtns but trust me I'm very realistic and I know that none of our teams could compete in the top regions in the state but there is a few players that can play w/anyone. It's unfair to these guys to be forgotten because they play on weak teams and in a weak region.
  20. Huge district game for both teams. SC's played 2 very good games in a row and Paintsville is struggling. I predict May, Crum and Torres combine for 60 and SC wins by 8 to 10.
  21. They played very hard and with emotion last night and when they do that they are a very good team.
  22. Collins being out will really hurt JBS on the defensive end because he changed a lot of shots on D. Their O will be ok with Stepp and Cox but this will hurt them imo.
  23. 15th Region 1. Brad Lowe \Pike Central - great shooter can score from anywhere, avgs 30 ppg 2. Brandon May\Sheldon Clark - physical, scores inside, has range to 25ft, 19pt 11rb 3. Matt Maynard\Belfry- super quick slasher w/ nice touch from 3 4. Landon Slone\Paintsville - knows how to score, great court awareness 5. Shawn Thompson\Lawrence County - horse on the boards gets most out of abilities 6. Jamie McCarty\Johnson Central - explosive scorer, very athletic unlimited range 7. Ryan Johnson\South Floyd - great ball handler, good shooter, sees floor well 8. Kyle Rice\Johnson Central - JC's backbone good for 15 and 8 every night 9. Mitchell Riddle\Shelby Valley - has all the tools doesn't always use them 10. Jamie Case\Belfry - good compliment to Maynard will shoot from deep 10. Jaryd Crum\Sheldon Clark - best handles\quickest player in the region, can shoot the 3, rarely misses a mid range jumper 1. Belfry 2. Pike Central 3. Johnson Central 4. Paintsville 5. South Floyd 6. Sheldon Clark 7. Prestonsburg 8. East Ridge 9. Shelby Valley 10. Magoffin County
