  1. We were pretty good in '89 and '90.:ylsuper:
  2. first one was '82, Paul Andrews shot. I was 11 yrs old. I didn't completely miss another until 2000. Haven't seen one since...of course, I haven't lived in KY for that long.
  3. I was sitting in the lower arena corner. The place was insane when he hit that shot. I was 8 years old and it was the first many Sweet Sixteens with my Grandfather. I remember the first round game when Todd May and Brett Burrow went at it. THAT was my first Sweet Sixteen game.
  4. Those are some interesting stats. It's funny though, I don't think they are complete. Some oif the season numbers I see don't include anything from Paintsville for the 2000 season. I only bring it up because I know that many of the individual and team statistics would qualify for a bunch of those lists. I'm gonna get somebody on that.
  5. It absolutely has. I'm not sure that isn't a product of Paintsville not being as talented as we once were as much as others getting better. We were contenders for state championships in several years in the 80's and, obviously, got over the hump in 1990 with a great showing in '89 in the finals and '86 in the semis. We had some other teams with Randy Daniels and those guys in the late 70's that were championship caliber teams, as well.
  6. You can count on one hand the number of times paintsville didn't win the region for almost 20 years. Starting with my Junior year in 1990 and working backwards, we won the region like 17 times. I know we won at least 6 in a row starting in '85, and at least a couple of others before that in the 80's. Tiller played his freshman year, my senior year, at Paintsville. I don't think they won it when he went to Sheldon Clark. I may be wrong though.
  7. Paintsville takes a 5-2 lead into the top of the 7th. Tuck replaced Grim with Pugh, he walked the first 2 and I told the guy on the phone at the game to not tell me anymore and just tell me the score. Paintsville made their last out when I was on the phone, 7-5 Sheldon Clark. Congrats Cards fans. I just knew when he said he gave up a free pass to the first 2 guys in the seventh it had to be bad. I liked it better when we won the region every year.:ylsuper:
  8. Paitsville got lucky in the draw and they can save their best arms. I don't think that's the case for the other bracket, which means good things for the Tigers.
  9. i think big tuck might be gettin em straight. i know he was limiting innings for his pitchers for quite some time. that's a hard thing to commit to when you're losing games. kudos to tuck.
