Montgomery Co. 53 Mason Co. 49
phenom replied to bricklayer's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Big win for the Indians. Won despite Danis playing only about 5-6 minutes and scoring 0 points in the second half due to foul trouble. Lee and Webb led the Indians bench which outscored Mason's 23-2. Big 10-0 run in the last 1:30 to 2 minutes of the first half gave the Indians a 2 point halftime lead. Chambers is an outstanding player, the best in the region, and the Indians won this game because she only got 7 field goal attempts. She went 6-7 from the field and 5-6 from the line. If she can get 13-15 attemps I think Mason probably wins the game. Enjoyed watching the Indians pull out a big win. -

Mason Co./Montgomery Co. Predictions
phenom replied to kysportsfan4life's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
Last years region final was incredible. I look for this one to go more like the first game this year, although probably a little closer. Montgomery just has too many girls who can do what it takes. -
I love Slaughter for Shelby, but they aren't by any means a one or 2 man team. They are really solid throughout.

Russ Middletan had a sensational game controling things for Mason in the region finals. He's a freshman. He might not stand out, but he'll have an impact.

Contenders for 2007 KY Mr. Basketball?
phenom replied to Bleed Blue1's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
I think Haddix and Knowles are somewhat comparable. Haddix is a little bigger with more potential at the next leval, and Scott Co.'s name might help him out a little. I also think Pettigrew is right there. -

Who will win the State Tournament?

I wonder what this would look like if it were only neutral fans voting. I'd say CovCath would be way down, and Mason would probably be quite a bit lower, to name a couple. -

I went with Shelby Co. I think the 5 best teams might be the teams from region 5-9 -

I think Clark Co will beat Mason in the finals as well, but they did get the worst possible draw. I'm sure Brossart isn't happy w/ their draw either. -
Montgomery County 38 Paris 33
phenom replied to Hilltopper2005's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
A win is a win, and against a good Paris team at that. It's hard to ask for much more than that against a team you beat by 6 and then by 4 in double OT in the regular season. I'm happy with it.:thumb: -

I'm sure Mason couldn't be happier w/ their draw. GRC got absolutely the worst possible draw. Montgomery Co. probably got the best draw they could hope for. -
I'd take Knowles over anyone.

Thanks for the updates. Any Idea on the Montgomery scoring?

I love listening to Dan Manley interview the 8 coaches! I'm gonna miss that this year.

Regional Tennis

They had a decent #1 player last year, but I'm thinking he was a foriegn exchange student. I don't really remember a whole lot about their team, but I don't think they will be a very big factor in the region. That said it wouldn't shock me if they can play with, or beat Montgomery or Harrison. They won't be able to play w/ Bourbon or Highlands. Mason Co. had one of the better players in the region about 3 years ago in Kinley Hendrickson, and they've had some solid doubles teams in that time, but unless they have something new I don't think they'll be at the top of the region. I feel like they had a 7th grader playing in the regional tournament about 3 years ago. Maybe Scaggs? Not sure if he's improved or not, but it could be a name to listen for. -
Ryals is a player you can always count on. He's been a real contributor since his sophomore year. He's really a perfect role player (like he played last year), he's got a sweet shot especially if he's open, and he rebounds very well for his size. This year he's had to be more of a go to guy, and that's not really what his game is built for, but he's done a very solid job and has definitely been the foundation of this team. We will certainly miss him next year!

George Rogers Clark vs Montgomery Co

I hope you're right...but if Montgomery wins I see it being lower scoring than that. -

I would have to disagree about the better team comment for last year. I think the teams pretty even, but Montgomery did have a better regular and post season. As for 2 years ago, that's a different story. -

Worrying about your biggest rival isn't really all that stupid, even if you are more talented. Anyone who saw the game the first time these 2 played knows it could go either way.
